I just got the email that Disney has been notified of our ownership! We've been working with Sharon at Fidelity, and she has just been awesome. I'm so excited!

Now, I know the email says that Disney will mail me my membership documents, but when can I start calling them to see if I have been entered into the system?

This board was such a help during the buying process. I can't wait to be a member!

I think I was in about a week after Disney was notified of our ownership so I would wait a few days to start calling (it took almost a month for Disney to mail my information)

I agree it was the same for me no both contracts.

Can someone explain the calling portion of the process to me? Are you calling DVC to see if you can get your membership number before they mail it out???

Calling about your membership is not a necessary part of the process, but it is something that some people do when they get tired of waiting. Typically Disney will take about two weeks to set up your membership, load your points and send you a letter with your membership number. Once you have that number you can call Member Administration and get set up for your online access. That takes about twenty seconds.

However, there are some who are not comfortable letting this process take it's course and start calling as soon as they hear that Disney has been notified of their ownership. Because of this, these people usually find out about their membership being completed a few days in advance of those that wait. But these are also the people who post on here about being treated rudely or not being given any information. In my opinion, starting to call this early just sets you up for stress and aggravation and creates extra work for Member Administration, possibly actually slowing down the process of setting up your membership. Disney is not going to expedite processing your contract just because you call. In most cases, the process will go smoothly on it's own. If you haven't received your letter with your membership number in two weeks, then I would recommend calling. Good luck!

Will they send an e-mail if you are already an existing member? I will be perfectly content to just wait and see when they load my points and I can see them on the Members site.

I can understand the excitement after the long wait for the resale process to be completed. Especially now when all availability seems to be drying up for basically all of October through January. I am in the same boat, I will have 160 points that have to be used between now and Jan 31, 2013. I already have a trip planned in Oct (that is paid for with existing points) so will be very hard pressed to find time and availability for any upcoming trips.

If you are already a member, then just keep checking your online account. This is what we did last year when we bought BWV. I checked each day and it was there in about a week after we were notified that we had closed...points showed up a few days after that...

Good luck!!!

Good point. I'm just eager to get my points because I need to make reservations for three trips! But waiting the two weeks is probably the mature/safe thing to do.
