Sorry for my ignorance ... have never taken a cruise before & was wondering if you are able to use Disney Gift cards on board the Disney cruises. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't accept them, but never hurts to ask. Thanks in advance for any info!:flower3:

Yes, they take them at Guest Services to apply to your account. You can't use them in the stores, bars, ect since you must use your room key for that. However, just take the giftcard(s) to GS and they will take care of applying them towards your account.

Thanks Carmen!!! This makes me happy, as I have been buying them everytime I go to the grocery store & stock piling them!!!

You're welcome! I buy them periodically too. It's a lot easier to take little by little vs all at once!

So what happens at the end of a cruise if you dont use the total amount on the gift card? :confused3

Sorry I can't answer your question I just wanted to say congratulations on your weight lose!!!!! Can you teach me how?

I think they apply the balance to one of the gift cards so dont throw them away

Thats a great idea about the gift cards, I think I might start doing that as well. or I should say I will ask my DW to do it

The new Disney Store Gift Cards are accepted onboard....the old Disney Store Gift Cards were not (the change happened about 18 months or so ago).

DCL should be mentioned on the back of the card. As mentioned just bring it to the Guest Services desk on Deck 3 and have them apply the amount to your onboard account.

You can also use Disney Dollars onboard if you have them....they are no longer sold at the Disney Stores but you can still purchase them at the parks and I think online. Same procedure....bring them to Guest Services and they will be applied to your on board account.

I have seen Disney Gift cards sold in Walgreen's, grocery stores, CVS, etc. They have more styles available at the Disney Store but you can get Disney gift cards at many places!!

Thanks MJ, if we can get them close by instead of driving half an hour away that would be great, we are going offically in October of 2011 and december of 2011, so we are going to start collecting them now, thank you very much

You can also buy them online. I purchased some from disneyland.com w/o a shipping charge. You can also buy them from disneyshopping.com and I don't think they charge a shipping fee for GC either. I just looked to see if they (disneyshopping.com) still sold them and they have a TON of designs. They used to just have a few and I couldn't believe all the cute cards they have.

Yup as a Disney Cast Member and a Crew Member on Special Occassions, you can use Disney Gift cards on any ship. If you do not end up using all of the amount then they credit it to a new card or sometimes will just reimburse you the remainder if its low enough.

Congrats on the weight lose! You should be very proud. I need to loss about 15-20 and hopefully will before my cruise!

Have a great one!

Yes they do. They expire in two different ways:
1. On your statement or online you can see when you points expire under Manage Rewards Tab.
2. Once you put point on a card they expire at the end of the year. So if you out points on the card Dec 30th 2010 then they would expire 12.01am January 1st 2011. So you have to be very careful.
Just use the point prior to them expiring~!

You're talking Disney Rewards points there, pluto1979, from Disney VISA and Disney Debit Cards. The conversation is about Disney Gift Cards, which are different.

This is a great idea! Do the gc expire?
Unlike Disney Rewards points, as pluto1979 was talking about, Disney Gift Cards do not expire.

Sayhello

Just wanted you to know that we did use Disney GC on our cruise last summer. Save at least one of the cards incase you don't use all of your GC. DH thought we wouldn't use it all, haha, had to put the rest on our CC. :rotfl2:
If your school sells $crip, you can get Disney GC from them. Then your school benefits on your trip too:banana:
