If I were to start saving for a $8k vacation in October 2017, how much should my initial churn start with?
I've been mostly been doing raise>target for my current trip. I just started eBay with just $300 in January. My eBay bucks was a huge $51 with just two churns I know I missed out on a lot bc I never had eBay gift cards ready at the right times.

We can't tell you because...

1) We don't know how often you can get eBay gift cards.
2) We don't know when or how much the next eBay bucks promotions will be
3) We don't know how long the gravy train will last.

My advice is to set up a spreadsheet, track all your arbitrage activity for a quarter, then calculate how much you'd likely earn.

All that said, the cap on ebay bucks earnings for any quarter is $500/person, so seeing how there are 6 quarters left before your vacation, the maximum you could earn from ebay bucks in that time frame is $3,000.

Has anyone ever thought about making a Google doc or something (perhaps can be combined with the cash back doc) with step by step instructions for all of this? Then each time someone new comes, we can point to the doc? I'm only involved in the Target -> Disney portion, but I'm intrigued by the eBay side of the equation. The thread is just so huge at this point, that I lost track of how folks do that side.

It gets asked often by new people who see others saving and say "how do I do that?", want to put no effort in, and be showed a path to easy money. Really the whole process is not for one who needs to be told how, but for people who contribute to the process to bounce ideas off each other, think outside the box, risk some money, try things, etc. If one just wants to be told what to so he can do it himself that adds no value to the group.

Think if you went to an investment conference... and said "I'd like to earn lots of money, please spell out a 3-step page on what I should buy so I can avoid having to research yet make some fast money?" It's like that. This is an investment that has all sorts of risk and requires improvising and plan-B's not just following steps.

I would just estimate and see how many times you could turn around the cards, and go with the lowest Ebates % for each, etc.

A pp already advised a $3000 max for EBay itself.

You definitely want to max out ebay bucks every quarter from now to your trip so I think you will need to invest more than 300.00 I personally like to have about 2k, so I have can do two rounds of 900 target purchases from ebay.

Also, look at other ways to add to your churning for free - swagbucks, ebates, etc... For my last trip, I applied for the Citi Thank you card that gave 50,000 points sign up bonus after a minimum spend and no fee for the first year. I turned that 50k into 500 of target gift cards which significantly helped me pay for my trip.

Everyone does this differently, so there is no way to be able to tell you what your "initial churn" should be so that you have $8K by Oct. '17. There are people who are more risk-averse than others. Some people convert their Target GCs back to eBay as soon as they get them Then there are others who sit on those Target GCs for a while so that they don't arouse suspicion. Some people churn through Gamestop but there are others who don't want to be stuck with GS GCs if that process gets derailed. The greater the risk, the greater the profits...and the bigger the loss. No one is going to create a plan for you to follow. @PerfessorZ made a good suggestion that you track your churning results for a quarter and extrapolate from there.

I just started this, but I printed out my daughter's school supply list for this. My son starts K next year and daughter will be in 4th. I am getting small things off the list each time I order through eBates and they have been crediting so far. I've actually been making more money through eBates, than the item is worth. Like a $1.00 pack of pencils, pair of Fiskars scissors, etc.

I suppose I could go back to it, although there's only so many glue sticks & boxes of pencils I can buy before it gets excessive. (I don't want to get anything too big to fit in my mailbox, like notebooks or folders, because I live in an apartment building with no doorman. The super will take packages if he is home, but if he's not it goes back to the post office and then we have to go pick it up. Huge PITA.)

So, I just went to order a $50 eBay card with the Target card I got from MyPoints, and I realized I had $190 on a Target GC that I thought had been used. Turns out that in my spate of cancelled orders last month I got mixed up and didn't mark one of them as cancelled on my spreadsheet. So I ordered 2 x $100 and 1 x $50 eBay cards. I figured that might be better than ordering another $200 so soon. Fingers crossed this order goes through! Then I will be all converted to eBay and will wait to see if there's an eBucks promo this month. If not, I'll just cash out back to Target before my eBucks expire. This will also give me some time to work on my rewards apps; I kind of fell off doing them last month so I haven't been earning as much as I'd like.

Thanks! I was getting worried because I have been trying to place an Ebay order of $600 today and it's kicking out my gift cards on paypal. I thought maybe I reached the limit.

I should have added that I set the item for in-store pickup. We go to Target almost every single weekend anyway and I'd hate for them to pay shipping to send me a pair of scissors, etc when I go there anyway. I've ordered pencils, erasers, notebook dividers, and scissors so far. I think I am still good on glue sticks from last year! lol
Since I do in-store pickup, I will start getting bigger items after I run out of small stuff. Like 3 ring binders, etc.

There WAS a $5,000 PayPal limit per rolling 6 months. If you used $5,000 worth of eBay gift cards until middle of March I believe, you were capped. They lifted that cap. However, if your gift cards are being deemed not usable, could it be that you used that card DURING the days of limits? If any cards were used during that limit they will not be good to use until the 6 months are up.

I'm now part of the "Cancelled Target Orders" Team! Didn't really bothered with eBates and Target and decided to try for fun since I'm cutting SB out completely now. Cancelled eBay GC with a Picnic Basket I was going to get anyway for our anniversary picnic. And all orders today after that was instant cancelled even for a single eBay GC by itself. eBates gave me credit though. Going to wait another day before I try again.

Do you have anyone/anywhere you could donate the excess supplies? Our church always needs markers, glue sticks, colored pencils, etc. So, I take quite a bit in there. I know once summer hits here and school supplies buying is kicking up, our grocery stores have barrels out where you can donate supplies to be given to less fortunate kids. I'll be taking some to that also. I'm sure a local school would appreciate anything you have in excess.

I have had 3 orders from Target cancelled this week I opened a new red card in my husbands name & was able to purchase a few more. I'm going to keep it up until his is banned too. I'm trying to spread the orders out more though but I don't know if that will help.
