How is Disney, even if it's a loadable card, open loop?

I don't expect you to have an answer. It just seems to me that whether a card is loadable or not is not the same as open loop.

Yea, I'm not following that either, but the poster is probably just relaying what she heard from the store folks. I think the important part of the story, is that somebody, somewhere at BB, felt the need to make some sort of distinction for whatever reason. Time will tell.

It didn't make sense to me either, I mentioned the visa gift cards not being allowed before and she said, yeah any of the loadable ones that aren't a fixed amount, they will get in trouble for now. Hopefully they will keep carrying the $50 cards so I don't have to worry about it.

When she came back over she told me she just wanted to check to make sure it was OK to use the gift card on those eBay gift cards because recently they were told they can't do it on certain gift cards or they will get in trouble. She said the open loop gift cards like the loadable up to $500 eBay cards and Disney cards they can't do anymore, but the closed loop specific amount cards like the eBay and Disney $50 cards are OK.

To add to this: I went into my local Best Buy today and noticed that all of the variable load eBay and Disney cards were gone. They did still have $50 eBay, and $25 and $50 Disney. Anyway, I inquired about a variable load eBay card and was told they had to pull all of them because they were causing their system to crash. He said everything would be fine until the end part where the transaction closed and the gift card gets activated and instead, their registers would crash. He said as far he knew or heard they were a failed experiment, "we never used to carry them, we tried and they haven't worked, so we're probably not going to carry them anymore" (granted he was just a regular team member so who knows what he knows). This had nothing to do with GC to GC purchases, I guess they were just having technical problems with these cards in general (weird because I bought a variable load eBay card from that same store just 3 weeks ago).

Weird. I bought a variable loaded eBay card for $250 today with BB gift cards.

Anybody purchase eBay gift cards at GameStop today? There have been reports of certain gamestops getting rid of eBay cards in certain areas in other forums I frequent...

When I did spot checks of my local stores throughout last week, all of them still had eBay GCs on the racks except one that has been out of stock for a while. I don't know if I can read this as GS selling existing stock until they're sold out with no plans of restocking. I just received a shipment of GS GCs so I'll be hitting up several stores this week and can report back. I'd note that gsdigital still lists eBay on their GC page, and I'd assume GS would remove this listing if removing eBay GCs from their inventory is a company-wide policy.

So, buying through PPDG can you only use PP balance or can you do some of your balance and the rest on your backup payment attached to PP? I want to buy a couple of SW cards but do not have as much as I need in my balance, but I do have a cc and banl acount attached. I am trying but it says they cannot process the payment right now and directs me to go back to the merchant and try a different paymet method (if available - but there isn't).

You've been blocked. It has nothing to do with your funding. Call PayPal and have them verify your account over the phone.

Thanks, it is my first purchase and only for $200 so thought I would be lucky (but why start now?). I'll give them a call and see what they say.

You can also try a single $100 GC instead of $200. Sometimes a lower amount works for me.

I tried that and it grayed out the PP payment option - it only left the PP credit line option.

Was going to call but now I am second guessing myself on getting the cards. Our trip is not until next year and the dates are not even open on SW. Don't know if I want to hang on to the GCs for that long with the growing GC fraud instances. Am I being paranoid? I think I have seen the discounted SW cards being sold before, so I am hoping they come up again closer to when I need to book.

Both of the GS's I go to, one very local, one sort of localish - on the way when I go to my brother's place, lol, both still have fully stocked loadable Ebay gc's. Been able to make easy purchases, usually load one $500 card at a time, swiping my physical gc's myself

Weird. I bought a variable loaded eBay card for $250 today with BB gift cards.
Yeah, me too. Just Saturday late afternoon, I purchase two loadable Ebay gc's for $400 each, they were super friendly and helpful. He chatted about how it's graduation gift giving time, lol!

The way SW has been raising their fares, you may decide on a different airline when it comes time to book. That is kind of what happened to us. I had bought a bunch of SW GC's and opened the SW cc for the points but it would have been so, so much less $$ to fly on Frontier. So, I decided against buying the SW gc's from today's sale.

Interesting. I went to one of my local BB on Sunday and bought a loadable card. They still had quite a few ebay and disney cards along with other loadable cards. I had apologized to the cashier because my phone was being slow to pull up my cards for payment and she said it wasn't any problem. I guess she had bought a macbook and paid with 10 gift cards she had to pull up on her phone.

I used the Sears card that I got through SVM yesterday at Kmart to buy another g/c with no problem. Kmart is also having (at least in my area) a deal this week where if you buy $25 of dining (loads of brands inc. Subway, Burger King, Darden, Red Robin...) g/c, you get a $5 Kmart g/c and $2 in Shop Your Way rewards. So I got a $25 BK card for $17 (after the bonuses) and a package of dental floss and used the Sears g/c to pay for it all. Again, YMMV.

Thanks! The Darden cards would be useful for me with the upcoming swim meet. My DD carbo-loads at Olive Garden at lease once per meet.

My Saturday Target order of the "new" 100's is still processing, too. I've never had an order process for more than 18 hours, let alone 72!

Does anyone still check this board hoping everything goes back to the way it was working in March? Glad I learned so much from you all but am hoping to be the one that can find a new avenue that will work for us who can not shop in store. My Disney trip is paid for but was hoping to be able to plan another trip through churning for three to four years from now.

Are all Disney gift cards out of stock on target.com? I bought some last night and wanted to buy some more today (after getting another target card on raise) but now they don't come up when I search for Disney Gift card.

I could get to it through my order history but not through a search or even browsing. I get stuck when I click on the link to the gift cards so I think there is a problem with the gift card section of the website.
