Disney Gift Card Deals

I wonder if the ones that people were able to order have shipped.

Eta: I see it on the app.

Yea, I'm now seeing it again on the website as well, but it is listed further down the page than it was over the weekend.

I placed a $300 order on Saturday morning and it has shipped.

This is a good point. At what point are we supposed to report "free" GC's (from Swagbucks, mPoints, Shopkick, etc...) as income on our taxes? And where to eBay Bucks figure in?

eta: Or are eBay Bucks considered a rebate, like ebates???
Money received from Ebates, Ebucks, or purchasing discounted gift cards is not considered income by the IRS. It is a rebate or discount on a purchase and thus not taxable.

Money earned from PTC sites is taxable and is reportable on your tax return. If you earn more than $600 in a calendar year, the site is supposed to submit a 1099 form. Regardless if you receive a 1099, you are supposed to report every dime you earn.

Not all money received from Swagbucks is taxable. If you got money from a rebate, that is not taxable. The rest is considered income.

How many gift cards will Southwest allow you to use per ticket? And is there a way to combine gc's?
4 forms of payment, which means 3 gift cards and a credit card, 4 gift cards, or 3 gift cards and a credit from a previous trip, etc. You can not combine gift cards, but there are a few tricks for using more forms of payment. You can book one way tickets for your party or split up your party into separate 'trips'. If that doesn't work, you can book less expensive flights, then cancel those flights for credit. Last time we flew to Orlando, I booked one way tickets. It keep the price below the $800 each way so I could use gift cards for the whole thing.

So my SVM sears gift cards arrived today and another successful churn at Kmart. If I knew for sure it would continue to work I'd really stock up when SVM ran sears/Kmart deals. Between the bonus eBay bucks, the bonus ebates, and the 15% off sears cards last week it was the best deal I've seen since the target/eBay deal died.
Again though this is definitely a YMMV route as I stopped in a different Kmart last week to make an unrelated purchase (i.e. Non gift card purchase) and they had signs all over the place that only cash or debit cards would be accepted for giftcard purchases and they also require photo ID. I inquired about using Kmart gift cards at checkout (to purchase other gift cards) and was told absolutely not. I also saw a similar sign at a local Joanne fabrics store (have the Amex offer I was interested in using) so guessing it may have to do with credit card fraud.

Agreed about the Kmart thing being fairly uncertain.

The Kmart closest to where I worked used to take GCs for GCs, but the last time I was in, was told in no uncertain terms that I could no longer do that. I have another Kmart that I was able to this weekend, but I was purchasing other things at the time as well and perhaps flew under the radar.

I just wish that the Kmarts in my area carried higher dollar cards. All the usual suspects are capped at $50 and sometimes at only $25. But, I do like the that I've never had an issue so far.

Me too-I had to buy 6 $50 Disney cards
I would consider churning back to eBay but they only carry $25 ones and 12 of those seems like it would raise more eyebrows IMO

what's the upside to spoon-feeding the internet your method if they're just going to abuse it to the point where it gets shut down?

This is pretty much it. I'm not here to help anyone else make money or take what I'm doing and multiply it 10-fold and get it shut down quicker. I'm here because by sharing ideas it helps me to make money. If you don't actually contribute, try something or experiment, then you are not useful in the process. That's just how it is! If you just show up and ask how others can help you that is kind of rude IMO. Both here and in most aspects of life.

But, some people out here are very smart and devious and resourceful, and collaborating with these people is mutually beneficial. Altho I figured much of my churn out for myself over the years, the Ebates parts and a few others like the GCM and PPDG limits I learned from folks out here, and that was a big win. :)

So, if you want to join in, then go read. Figure out what it is that you want to do with your money. Don't ask someone else what you should do. Investing in anything is a research project, not a set of instructions. It's your money! Why anyone would follow some instructions from random people on the internet w/o doing their own research to understand their risks is beyond me.

I can't really be mad at people who did more than me. Some did way more and got banned. (tho the people allegedly banned were evasive and defensive when asked about the amounts, so this remains suspect) Some did more and didn't get banned. Some did way less than me. I'm happy w what I ran thru the system when it was going, and that's all you can really look back on. Lani doing $1000/day doesn't bother me cuz I did double to triple that on a few days back in the hayday. Was probly playing with fire, but really, was just playing with money which is akin to Blackjack in Vegas. It was fun, and a rush.

Funny tho. Stay away for a few days and come back to 7 pages of drama. I guess that's what happens in a churn thread when the deals kettle is currently dry. :D

Here is another interesting story on MS, gift cards, money orders, and police involvement . . .

Thanks for this! Fun read, but I agree w most of his commenters that it's bogus, written to sell his seminars not a true story. I bet he even tells it at the seminars to excite people. And I also bet people who would pay to go to a seminar on manufactured spending are likely to believe the story. I suggest OP remove the link, because the Disboards should not be advertising for / direct-linking to a guy selling seminars.

Data Point/Heads Up

I went to Lowe's this weekend. I had purchased a $100 Lowe's GC during one of the last promos on eBay. Knowing that I couldn't use a GC to purchase another GC at Lowe's, I went in planning to use the GC I had in hand on merchandise I needed, and purchase 2 $50 Disney GCs to replace the funds used to purchase the Lowe's card. Well, my Lowe's was out of Disney, so I picked up 2 $50 eBay cards and headed to the checkout with my cart full of stuff. After about 20 minutes and a very confused clerk, we finally came to the conclusion that no matter what dollar amount your merchandise totals, you cannot have a GC on the order if you are paying any part of it with a GC. I had to check out the eBay cards on a separate transaction.

Anybody purchase eBay gift cards at GameStop today? There have been reports of certain gamestops getting rid of eBay cards in certain areas in other forums I frequent...

So, I had an interesting experience at Best Buy today.

I went in to Best Buy today with a $100 GC to convert to eBay, in order to get the rest of my airfare paid for with the southwest deal.

I went to the register, she rang up the two $50 eBay cards and when she saw my gift card I was paying with she said, just one second and went over to her manager. My heart dropped! I have churned through this best buy a ton of times with no problems.

It took her a few minutes because he was helping another person. I could see them talking and he shook his head yes and I could tell he was saying "that's OK".

When she came back over she told me she just wanted to check to make sure it was OK to use the gift card on those eBay gift cards because recently they were told they can't do it on certain gift cards or they will get in trouble. She said the open loop gift cards like the loadable up to $500 eBay cards and Disney cards they can't do anymore, but the closed loop specific amount cards like the eBay and Disney $50 cards are OK.

How is Disney, even if it's a loadable card, open loop?

I don't expect you to have an answer. It just seems to me that whether a card is loadable or not is not the same as open loop.

@Marionnette i tried to PM you but your privacy settings say I can't send you a message-if you are interested you can PM me. If not no worries :)

Yes that is odd-you can't convert a Disney gift card to anything else (that I'm aware of) so it would not be an open loop....but hey each company sets their own rules so doesn't matter what we think right?
