Do you get the entire $1 off per gallon when redeeming at Shell? I seem to remember not being able to, but it was a really long time ago when I checked.

We don't here in CO. We only get .10 off per gallon, no matter how many fuel rewards you have built up. Those rules may vary by state though since I have read some of the fuel reward policies are governed by individual state gas laws. Also, different Kroger chains have different rules.

info from four years ago most likely has changed. go back a few months of posts and start reading from there. its worth the investment!

This one could be closed, it would be easier for new people to get through
I think the problem is that none of the regular contributors here want to start a how to thread because nobody wants the practice to get too big. If it does Target, EBay, Ebates, etc will find ways to close the loopholes we all benefit from. Posters here are willing to share their knowledge and experience with like minded savers but have spent a lot of time with trial and error developing strategies. In the form it is currently only those who are equally as invested to saving (i.e. Those willing to read along to develop their own saving strategy) are able to benefit from the knowledge and experience of those who have been doing this for awhile. If you want to start a new thread with the knowledge you have gained that is obviously up to you but it is an evolving process. As such it would require you to update the first post regularly or else it would just stagnate. If you read the early posts in this thread I am sure you would probably find outdated info as well since it was started in 2012. Also keep in mind posters here live all over the country so often we talk about including regional deals in our strategy that aren't applicable to everyone (Giant Eagle, HEB, Kroger, Meijer, etc).

Just for new people wanting to figure things out....I just read this thread day by day as people posted for almost 5 months before I started any churning. Only just started a few weeks ago. I feel like it was worth the wait. Now I have a decent handle on things and I know the risks. This isn't a process you want to rush. :-)

You don't need to yell at me, I was just thinking of all the new people, sorry I will just keep quiet.

The process isn't that complicated. The information is on private forums. There are multiple ways of doing this. I started churning before I even read this thread. What works one week, may not work the next. It's really important to only churn what you can float. It's really staying current on deals, posting what works, what doesn't work so we can help each other. There's not a perfect formula. People really need to start small and figure out a system that works for them. Since this is a public forum, I wouldn't want there to be a wiki. I read and discovered another store I wasn't taking advantage of. However, I'm hesitant to buy a large amount of gift cards to this store since it's not one I shop at. If everything came to a halt, I'm o.k with ebay or Target gift cards. The advantage of taking the time to read is you really find out people's success and the problems they encounter so hopefully that doesn't happen to you. So like the others have said, just start reading, then keep up with the current pages.

I like this thread, and doubt I would post on another if another was started. I don't mind posting an in depth look at one portion or another of the whole churning animal, as I understand it, at that moment, on this thread. My spreadsheet for how to do ebay under the 5K limit isn't applicable anymore. A wiki with that would be less than useless. This all evolves so quickly, and I frankly don't want responsibility for keeping up with all the aspects of it. I doubt anyone really does.

And, really, it is different for everyone. haveneselover (sorry, not sure how to spell that, lol) and I both do Kroger fuel points (and she is where I "saw the light" of the value of doing Kroger points in the first place, so thanks!), but we don't do them the same way. I doubt I do Target, or ebay, or anything else the same as anyone else.

There is real money at risk in all of this, and we aren't telling people to read back 200 pages because we want to be jerks and lord the process over anyone, but because none of us want to feel responsible if someone doesn't understand the risks involved and lose their family vacation because they didn't understand how to do ebay bucks, or the risks inherent in Target, gamestop, or whatever. Or they had all $3000 they had tied up in gamestop and they stopped doing gift cards, or got banned from target. And, it is too easy to get caught up in the "game" and spend more than you intended if you don't understand what you are doing, why some of us do certain steps, etc. If you are slowing down enough to read through 200 pages, you're probably about where you need to be on the thought part of this.

And, someone brings it up almost every week, to start a new thread. So, it isn't just "you" (ie, whomever feels targeted) that it is directed at. We are also telling everyone else that we don't want a new thread or a wiki.

I hadn't planned on stopping by Gamestop until the next Bucks promo, but this could put a wrench in my plans! Would love to hear other people's experiences given how varied their policies seem to be between stores.
I purchased $300 in ebay at GS with GS cards on 4/4 and on 4/8, both with no problems whatsoever. The guy the rang me up has rung me up nearly every time I've been in, and he said "see you again soon" so I don't anticipate any problems....

I really don't think anyone was yelling at you, or intending to do so. Reading through the thread is really part of the process. This is not a "Get Rich in 5 Easy Steps" self help book. It's a very involved ever-changing process that you can't effectively pick up in a single post or two. That's all anyone is trying to get across whenever someone posts that question.

I started with just the Target piece. Now that I've gotten comfortable with that, I am ready to take the next step and try eBay, if they are willing to shine down on me with an eBucks offer.

I've been reading this threat for about a year to be sure I have a grasp of what is going on.

Please, don't keep quiet. You will have questions, and people here are more than willing to help someone understand a piece of the puzzle. They just can't hand it to anyone all wrapped up in one neat little package.

I don't think anyone is yelling just explaining why it is important to follow the thread if you want to join the party :)

ETA please ask questions-I think everyone here tries to help one another and fresh ideas/perspective are always welcome.

Oooh! I have an idea. Can we make a sticky/wiki/whatever its called that says we are not going to post step by step instructions, a tutorial, or post a video? :stir:. THEN we we get the repeat questions from those who don't want to use their own time to investigate we can say "please refer to the wiki".

Love it!

There is no one preventing you from doing exactly what you want. That's not to sound rude but it is what it is. If you think it's a good idea, put the work in on it. I've considered more than once to put a faq sheet together of sorts of what I know that could be posted here on occasion but then I'll see posts that lead me to believe that people just want stuff spoon fed to them and I change my mind.

Thanks for all the information in this thread. I started at the first post and read the first 100 pages or so. Then I skipped to around page 520 and have read everything after that over a few weekends. You all have inspired me to save more on trips to my happy place. More I save the more I can go to the most magical place in the world. I'm getting ready to start out with my first churn and am starting out small using my free Target GCs from my first cash out from Swagbucks. Reading all these posts let me get a better understanding of how people do it differently...what works for one person may not work for others.

THIS

I remember a few months ago when someone saw that Walgreens sold Disney gift cards and bought a ton of Walgreens gift cards from a reseller site (like 1,000 or more). Only to be told that you can't buy another gift card with a Walgreens gift card. That info was in this thread and a lot of us new that if it had been asked and we all felt horrible that she now has so much money tied up in Walgreens gift cards. For some people this mistake could cost them their vacation. That's why we are so adamant people read....there is real risk.

As an update to this, I just spent the evening going to a few different GS and all gave me the same line, "not able to do GCs for GCs". This includes a GS that my mom just went to the day before yesterday and did $100 using the gsdigital thing. Today, same worker, said she can't do it. I would be interested in hearing if anyone was successful at converting GS since the 10th or 11th. We might have to take a road trip to wherever DIS_MERI lives :rotfl2:

And another example of how fluid the whole churning process is and why staying up to date with the thread is so important to be successful.

I just flipped $400 worth of video games and transferred them to an eBay gift card tonight. The system definitely takes them. The employee that was helping me with the trades was even like "yeah, that's the way to do it" "buy your games on eBay for even cheaper than here!" I guess he was thinking that I was going to buy more games on eBay, haha.

This is exactly what I'm doing too. In my case, I have to put at least something on my RedCard in order to get the 5% discount, so I work it so only the add on item is being charged to the RedCard. For example, If I order $600 in ebay gift cards (often three $200 cards, but sometimes mixing it up with other denominations), I'll also add in a Target egift card for $30 (which is the amount of the 5% RedCard discount), plus the Ebates eligible add-on item. I'll pay with $600 in Target gift cards (which covers the ebay GC's and the Target GC) with the balance going to my Target RedCard (covers the add on item). This keeps my churning gift cards separate from my add on purchases and makes accounting easier for me. It also keeps me from having odd amounts left on gift cards.

ETA: I've been doing this consistently for the past six months and haven't had any orders cancelled (knock on wood).

Thank you for sharing this, just one question - what do you do with the $30+ Target egift card? Keep that separate for non gc purchases or roll it back in next time you place an order?
