Disney Gift Card Deals

Thanks! I stumbled upon this on Sunday, I had planned to buy $50 of Target cards with the $50 Meijer card I got last week, but changed my mind and just used my CC since the grocery reward is at 5% extra this quarter and got the $5 off. I thought I was missing something since I couldn't find it advertised anywhere. How did you find out about it so I know where to look in the future?
I just noticed the signage above the gift cards. I've been watching to see if they would offer Target. Over the past 3-4 weeks they have offered several deals that were not in the ads. This week it just listed some exclusions but didn't say that you had to buy the ones pictured (like it sometimes does) so I tried 2 and when it worked I got more! I'm glad it came right off and not as a checkout coupon because those can be annoying since you can only use one per transaction. I didn't know you could buy GC with a Meijer GC, good to know!

But you might want to read the follow up posts to that one, because people are discussing how to save more on that purchase because of how their credit card rewards for purchases at Sam's, BJ's and other warehouse retailers.

There are also potential savings (for those who don't have a CC with a good grocery rewards category) by purchasing WM GCs for 3 to 3.5% off at Raise. Go through Amtrak Guest Rewards (3% back) or Swagbucks (2% back) for the Raise purchase, and then TCB for the Sam's purchase. TCP doesn't always credit for the Disney GCs from Sams, so YMMV on that. I got it to credit 2 out of 3 times and got almost 4% back on each purchase. Using the $500 Disney GC as an example, you'll spend $460 with around $30 back + another 1-2% back from your CC from the Raise purchase. I think it added up to 15% for me and allowed me to spend that much less at Target.

I am new to this but how do the Kroger fuel pts work? If I spent $500 how many points would that be and what would that get me? I'm also considering the Meijers $5/$50 deal and not sure which is better. Thanks!
Kroger fuel points are normally 2x for gift cards, and 1x for grocery. So, you normally get 1000 fuel points for purchasing a $500 gift card, or for $1000 in groceries. At 4x fuel points, you get 2000 fuel points for your $500 gift card purchase. Each 100 fuel points saves you $.10 per gallon, up to 35 gallons. You can redeem for up to $1 off per gallon/1000 fuel points at a time. I live 2 miles from Kroger, so I take 4 five gallon gas cans with me when I fill up my tank (up to 20 gallons if on E) and store them in my garage. I then fill up my tank from those as I use up the gas in my tank. Some people take 2 cars and fill each up. Since I get $35 in gas savings off each $250 in gift cards purchased, I look at that as a 14% savings from fuel perks alone. Additionally, I have a rewards card that gives me 6% back on grocery stores (up to $6000 per year). So I am at 20% just buying the initial Target cards :)

And this is an excellent example of why people should read the thread! :thumbsup2

However at 728 pages maybe we should have a Wiki instead of a forum to sort through all the info
YouTube How-to videos, a how-to sticky, a new thread with the first post spelling it all out and other shortcuts have all been discussed at one point or another on here. The general consensus has been a resounding NO.

Maybe we could start a new thread with a link to this one for those that want to read it all.

Why start a new thread? Someone else tried to do that a little while ago. It quickly became a duplicate of this one (with lots of tangents), but the most helpful people continued to post on this one. Having a second thread only means that people have to check two threads in order to try to keep abreast of any changes or new offers.

Can you purchase GC from Kroger online and still get the 4x points? We don't have a Kroger nearby, but we do travel enough that I think the gas perks may be worth it.

I believe so but how do you use the gas perks if there isn't a Kroger nearby? I don't do this because I can't get 6% off from Amex this way.

Just FYI, when we went to convert some GS the other day, a manager said he had received a memo on 4/5 that they were only supposed to take GCs for purchases of some restaurant and gaming cards, but not Amazon, Ebay, etc. Not sure how true that is, but wanted to put that out there. I would highly recommend calling first even if you have used that location before, but that is no guarantee either.

I hadn't planned on stopping by Gamestop until the next Bucks promo, but this could put a wrench in my plans! Would love to hear other people's experiences given how varied their policies seem to be between stores.

We travel to in-laws where there is a Kroger every couple of months.
FYI fuel points expire (would have to time purchases with your trips)-I think I heard here it is the end of the next calendar month (i.e. Rewards earned now expire end of May)

This one could be closed, it would be easier for new people to get through

Why close this thread? Because you and a few others don't want to do a little reading? Start at page 530 if you don't want to read all 700+ pages. The information is on this thread. Ask questions if you are confused but don't expect anyone to draw you a road map because there is no single right way to do this. We all read along and worked to develop our own ways of doing this, based on what's available to each of us and how comfortable each of us is with the risks. The best way to do this is to read what others have been posting and create your own way to do this.

Do you get the entire $1 off per gallon when redeeming at Shell? I seem to remember not being able to, but it was a really long time ago when I checked.

I'm really not sure. I don't even shop at Kroger because it isn't that close. They are building one closer though so I checked out the Kroger website a little today and that is how I knew about the Shell stations. It may have the answer to your question on there.
