Disney Gift Card Deals

I appreciate your theory, but...

One of my many of why Walmart,Target, gas gift cards sell for so much is that peoples 1st and only credit card is the ebay/pp and need gas and groceries but they have no money or credit.
Paypal offers a debit card that can be used anywhere visa/mastercard is accepted.

I also have other theories involving soon to be divorces, crack head soccer moms, churners, shut ins, filler items, hoarders, maxxing out credit cards before you go bankrupt and give up paying ccs.
I still can't see any of the above willing to pay more for face value.

Can't use debit that has $0 balance.

Can someone explain to me why GCs on Ebay sold buy individuals are list for more than the card is worth? I don't get it when you can just go to the online store and order at face value.
Some, I think it is because they want to get back what they put into it. Others know that when GCM sells out of Target, people will overpay to get the ebay bucks. I can't think of any reason why I would pay above face value, heck I grumble about having to pay shipping at GCM lol.

I am just starting to have a large amount of target gcs. For the those that are veterans how much do you comfortably put through target in a month?

I am considering buying some eBay gcs in store with target gcs and forgoing the ebates and 5% red card discount.
I've probably been doing about 4 orders of $450 maybe twice a month in average, for the big ebucks deals. Thinking of doing maybe half in store to put less thru and maybe do churn thru GameStop once a month that I tried the other day.

Then they can't use paypal either.
Bill me later? Doesn't Ebay or Paypal have credit cards? i don't know. That's why I called them theories.
Have you ever seen Louis CK stand up about being broke? Warning. Lots of swears!

just search youtube for Louis CK and broke.

Edit: took link down. Don't want to get in trouble .

I know some have asked why Gamestop, or Kmart, or anything other than just Target > ebay > repeat. I think it depends on what kind of volume you are looking at. I have a trip for 6-8 to pay for in October, so I probably need to get $1000-$2000 in Disney gift cards from target every month. That is pretty much the max of my comfort zone to run through Target, period. So, barring target having a sale on gift cards, I don't plan to get any other gift cards from Target besides the ones I need for Disney. Heck, I've stopped doing ebates with my Target orders because I want to do as little as possible to flag my account and still get what I need. I *need* Gamestop, target, best buy, etc. to get my ebay cards.

I have got down the Target > eBay > repeat process down. How does K-mart or Best Buy play into this?

I mentioned in an earlier post, I am not going to buy ebay cards from Target anymore, because I need $1000-$2000 in Disney gift cards each month for a very long time (I have everything for my May trip, but need to get started on an October '16 trip for 6-8, and then when I get that saved for, I will have a 3 day Disney cruise in June '17, also for 6-8, plus DVC dues). I'm not comfortable with more than that; I order a new set when the previous comes in. Man, this Disney habit is an expensive thing lol.

I try to have a well thought out plan, so I don't have to do too many things on the fly (and forget important steps), but also allow for things like adding in a trip to speedway ($20 extra in points) and game stop (12K points, about $10), which gave me the 5% I would have missed out on by skipping target .com, plus I will get $50 cashback from Discover....Now I am just wondering how many gc I can churn through gamestop before they get mad lol.

ETA: If I have money I am willing to add into what I already have invested, I will nearly always go for Kroger fuel points, because that is 7% (and 14% at 4x), plus the 6% from my credit card in cashback. But, I already had over 2K fuel points (70 gallons of gas) from March's 4x and I don't want to add any until I spend those. That is when other avenues of spending come in (ie my Speedway purchase).

Very few stores will let you buy other giftcards (ie ebay, although some have Disney too) with their own store gift cards. Kmart, Best Buy and Gamestop do allow that, in many cases/places. Not all of them, though, so this is a step you will want to approach with even more caution than Target > ebay > repeat. Target has banned people from Target .com for being "resellers." What makes Target decide someone is a reseller is a huge unknown, so many are being cautious with their Target usage.

Another advantage to Kmart, Best Buy and Gamestop is that they often have digital gift cards, which you can use to flip quickly when there is a 4x or 5x offer on ebay. Their gift cards are also easier to find without shipping charges, so you don't have to pay extra to not have your money available in transit ;)

I think if I had to do more than 2 transactions, I would probably take some in store. Currently I do one one transaction one day, and one the next, when I receive my GCM cards.

Although going into the store could eat into my profits because we all know we aren't walking into Target for JUST Ebay gift cards lol

I sure wish I could do this! There are many wonderful benefits to living in a smaller town, but no Target is hard! The nearest store is 100 miles away, so I just keep hoping I don't set off some arbitrary warning bells when I start ordering my gift cards. I do try to break it up.

And the advice to hit all the Game Stops stores you can find? We have one. :charac2:

Thank goodness for the dot coms :surfweb: and all the advice on here that has saved me $$$ so we can go to Disney! :disrocks:

I think people just need to be patient with ebates, and stop putting in tickets unless it is a regular eligible purchase. Target usually credits the same day for me, ebay has ranged from same day to a week later depending on when my item ships. I know it is easy to worry that you aren't going to get cash back, sometimes you won't. Putting in tickets is begging for them to deny it and possibly have them reverse your other purchases. Paying with gift cards is technically not supposed to work on any of the shopping portals, but it does most of the time on ebates and a lot of other portals as well. I don't ever put in tickets if I know that I'm not technically supposed to get it.
Patience people.
I was just about to post this..... STOP asking ebates for credits- I have been doing MS type stuff for years now and I will tell you this... All these 'questions' to the merchant will trigger suspicion about the similar activity patterns, and this will be shut down for everyone. I feel like this point should be made VERY clear right at the outset, like a sticky,it's that important to remember. Same goes for Target, ebay, etc. Unless there's a very real problem that IT can fix, be PATIENT> This sort of activity is what's called YMMV -Your mileage may vary- and most times these offers work for most people, but sometimes they don't. That's the 'gamble.'. Please Please I hope people will listen to this or it will end sooner rather than later.

I know you guys will feel my pain on this.

Trying to figure out our food budget per day for Hawaii - will be in Oahu at Aulani for 6 days, but not sure how much we'll want to eat on/off property. So trying to figure out how much I want to have in gift cards is so difficult!

The same with the Ebay > Gamestop flips.

Although I'm kind of new here... the way everyone was reacting over the Ebay > Gamestop flip, it seems like it's a relatively new thing here. We don't know how for sure how much Gamestop monitors our accounts, or if they decide to ban people moving forward, so please play it safe and don't buy thousands of dollars of gift cards at a time at a single location. Buying $300 or so in gift cards doesn't seem as suspicious, but dropping $1 or 2k on a gift card does. Big sign of money laundering and Gamestop gets some pretty sketchy people pretty often. They have banned peoples accounts for trading in 4 of the same title with a video game, so I wouldn't doubt that they would ban us.

But anyway... great quarter everybody :thumbsup2

It seems like the sales kept coming one after another in the past week. Here's to the upcoming quarter popcorn::

I was actually told on this board to "put in a ticket" a few times and no one gave this or any other advice NOT to. I personally followed the advice given here, not knowing that ebates doesn't credit for purchases paid with gc's ( and they were crediting every other purchase I made with just gift cards) I'm sure I'm not the only one . If someone had explained why it wasn't a good idea to put in a ticket I certainly wouldn't have. I followed advice given here. No one corrected. Oh well.

In general we abide my a 'no phone calls' rule around here. Pretty much no phone calls, no tickets, no contacting customer service unless there is a massive error of some sort.

The same with the Ebay > Gamestop flips.

Yes, to get the points they are going to register all activity, so I am approaching with caution (I mentioned wondering about earlier how much they would allow). The good thing is, there won't be a lot of ebay bucks offers in April, so I can move back into ebay cards slowly, from my Kmart stash. I also don't want to run a ton through Kmart at once; I think they already call me "the gift card lady" (when I take my kids to their Dad, I hit one of the Kmarts in Indy, so I spread them around even more). Sadly, all my cards are currently in transit and I can't churn any in Indy this weekend.

Another 'side effect' to all the "my Ebates didn't credit" posts is that it discourages others from using the portal.
My last batch of Target cards arrived later than many others on here so I made my 5X Ebay order at 5:30 pm on the last day of the sale. By that time I had read a bunch of worrisome posts regarding Ebates not posting for people who had bought at the beginning of the sale. I contemplated not even using Ebates but decided to go ahead and try since I've had success in the past.
