Disney Gift Card Deals

I thought it was 5% total not an additional 5 percentage points to get 6% total.
I also am done buying the gift cards from Raise and cardpool (all places like that). I'm pretty willing to take risks but that is feeling too risky for me these days. I will buy from my Kroger-chained grocery store when they do extra fuel promos. Also, anyone with a Chase Freedom will get 6% cashback beginning in April since grocery is an additional 5% category. I also will just buy Target straight from GCM when they offer additional ebucks promos.

Havaneselover is correct, it's 5% total for quarterly bonus category; not additional.

Good idea! I have mine separate as well, $300 and $250. That's about all I needed for now so I didn't do too much. At first I was annoyed with myself because I wanted it all together, BUT Target limits you to 4 gift cards per transaction anyways, so it all worked out. If you had 4 $150 cards from Gift Card Mall (Ebay), you could probably do $600 at a time. $450 is good though because then that's 3 $150 from Ebay and if you need to use a 4th (say to use up a balance on another one or something), you can do that.
I hear you! The first day, only the $100 cards were in stock, but the second day they had the $150's back in stock so I was able to buy 3.

Thanks, but since my account hasn't been "verified" yet I am already at my max for this month.
Do most people go the e gift card way for eBay cards from target? I was wondering since I have a bit of time to use them, I was thinking of ordering physical cards instead.
I always choose the e-gift card option.

There's no way to save GCs to your eBay account. When you use them, any remaining balance will be saved in your PayPal account, along with the eBay GC info. But the GC has to be used for an eBay purchase first.
I do have a balance on one of my egift cards. So, does that mean next time I buy on eBay it will automatically be applied from my PayPal account? Or will I have to type in the original egift card number again?

I had $40 leftover on one, and I had to re-type it in. I learned after that to keep tabs on them, otherwise I totally would've missed it.

Thanks for posting about the GCM $100 for $95 plus free shipping. Was able to get 4 between wifes and my accounts. Now I'll probably get a ebucks promo since I just used almost all my ebay gcs.

TCB had 2.1% for ebay incase anyone was looking for a higher payback

So the 3% is the doubled amount? Their answer is still somewhat confusing. If so and their regular % is dropping down to 1.5%, that's a huge drop. I'm expecting my Target GC's from GCM on Friday so I should be able to get in one churn at the 3% cash back. Still disappointing if they are dropping from 4% down to 1.5%.

I know - hope they don't go all the way down to 1.5%. I guess we'll see what happens after the current double promo is over.

I used my $10 coupon, (that I paid $5 for) for a $100 Target from GCM for $95. So I actually got it for $90. I now have $400 worth to churn.

For the last quarter purchases, I got 1% plus an additional 5%.

Nevermind, it is 5% total. They list them separately making it look like 6%. Oh well, I am still happy with the 5% plus fuel rewards (and no risk of GC being stolen!!).

Last quarter was Amazon and it was 10% at the end of the quarter. I've never gotten an extra 1%. It's always been 5% for me (except the Amazon double).

From the website: you'll earn a total of 5% cash back on up to $1,500...that's 4% cash back in addition to your unlimited 1% cash back.

I posted upthread that I do see now it is only 5% Here is one of my current rewards. The way they list them separately made me think it was 6%. I did not even look at the amounts.

Rewards Earned
+ Bonus from 1Q 5% category: Gas stations 43.24
+ 1% (1 Pt)/$1 earned on all purchases 10.81
Transaction Date:2/03
Statement Post Date:2/05
Total Rewards
54.05

Purchase total was 10.81 so only 5%

Churning involves using GCs to purchase GCs and then cycling the GCs through the process a number of times, increasing your savings with each cycle.

One form of cycle involves making purchases of ebay GCs on Target .com and then buying Target GCs on ebay.

Ebay offers ebay bucks when you make qualified purchases. The ebay bucks earned by purchasing Target GCs can be used to purchase more Target GCs.

Using a rewards program's shopping portal for your Target and eBay purchases can help to increase your savings.

As an added twist to the Target-> eBay -> Target -> Disney GC churn, you can add a couple of detours through GameStop if your local store allows you to buy a GC with a GS GC AND they carry eBay GCs. It's been reported that effective 4/4/16, GS managers have been informed that they should not accept GS GCs for payment on the purchase of eBay GCs. Proceed cautiously if you decide to attempt this churn.

Isn't it possible to just generate/churn cash through Ebates by purchasing eBay gift cards from target and using the eBay gift card to buy target gift cards on Ebay?!?
Yes, it is. In fact, that's how many of us have been doing it. But the GS churn adds another dimension to the process. Churning through GS allows you to quickly turn your eBay GCs around because they are digital, arrive within minutes of purchase and count as an eBay purchase during ebucks promotions. It also allows you to bypass the quirky Target system that often cancels orders or randomly bans customers. I haven't tried it myself, but there's a GS not too far from my house and if they allow it, I may just have to give it a try soon.

Note: Effective 4/23/16, Target .com no longer applies a 5% discount to any online GC purchase. There are still reports of being able to get the 5% discount when making a GC purchase in-store when using your REDCard.

And on 4/29/16, the 5% discount has returned to Target .com. Which goes to show that the situation is always fluid and you really need to read this thread regularly to keep up with the changes.

And just like that, on 5/7/16, Target .com had Disney GCs back in stock. And the 5% REDCard discount is working on them.

On May 12, 2106 - GCM ran out of Target GCs and did not re-stock them. On May 19, 2016 - the listing for Target GCs ended and was not replaced with a new listing as of 5/20/16.

On May 13, 2016 - eBay electronic GCs disappeared from Target .com and have not been added back.

What do I do with my stack of $50 and $100 Disney GCs? I don't want to have to carry them around with me!
You can deposit them in a Disney Vacation Account and use them to pay for your package or ticket purchase. But you cannot use the DVA in the parks!
Or you can combine them on disneygiftcard.com for up to $1000 on a single GC.

Help! PPDG sent me the wrong eGC!

How many GCs can I order at one time?
PPDG (PayPal Digital Gifts) often limits buyer to only 2 GCs at a time when they are offering a deal on GCs. They will sometimes lock accounts if there appears to be over-activity that might be due to fraudulent purchases.
GCM will limit you to 25 GCs in a 10 day period. The limit is set by eBay and is per eBay account.
Target .com limits Disney GCs to 4 or each denomination in a single order. Target store limits will depend on the mood of the manager.
GameStop limits on eBay cards can be imposed by the store manager.

Editing to add other sources of discounted Disney GCs:
Just buy the Disney GCs and skip the other gymnastics! There are many places where you can buy Disney GCs for less than face value or get something back that makes it worth your while.

  • Target gives 5% off at the register if you pay with your REDCard.
  • Grocery stores (like Giant Eagle) offer fuel perks for purchases and gift cards are included! Others may offer $ off a future purchase for purchasing select GCs and sometimes Disney is included.
  • Warehouse discounters (like Sam's and BJ's) sell multipacks of Disney GCs for less than the displayed price.
  • Check your rewards CC to see if they offer Disney GCs.
Hidden discounts you may not have considered:

  • Your rewards CC can be used for making your purchase. Depending on where you are buying your GC and how the CC rewards program works, you can get between 1%-5% back just for making your purchase.
  • eBay sometimes offers coupon codes that can be used toward the purchase of a Target GC, eBay GC or even a Disney GC from a seller.
Using a GC to purchase a GC:

  • Target isn't the only place where you can use a store GC to purchase a Disney GC. Walmart GCs can be used at Sam's Club. Some posters have had success using a Sears GC to purchase Disney GCs at Kmart or Sears (definitely varies from store to store).
  • Some people report having success using a Best Buy GC to purchase a Disney GC. If you're a member of the Best Buy rewards program, you can redeem your rewards certificates to pay for Disney GCs. All of this depends on whether your local Best Buy carries Disney GCs at all.
  • The Disney Rewards Dollars that you get from your Disney Visa can be used on the Disneystore website to purchase a Disney GC (it's a dollar-for-dollar exchange but if you want cute GCs instead of the standard Mickey GCs, this is a way to do it).
  • Some Gamestop Stores will allow you to buy an eBay GC with a GS GC. YMMV. eBay will offer GS GCs at a discount every once in a while. Rumor has it that this option may be dead, effective 4/4/16. YMMV. http://www.disboards.com/threads/disney-gift-card-deals.2941964/page-657#post-55444019

When I used an eBay coupon to pay for a GC on GCM, they canceled my order with no explanation. It might be a coincidence. The money was refunded to the eBay GCs that I had used to pay for the balance, but the coupon was wasted.
:crazy2: Yikes!!!!! Why on earth?

Was able to purchase 2 of the $100 GC's for $95, and spent roughly $127 OOP. So once I get all of my GC's in the mail I will have $500 total to churn.

I saw that! But... I haven't used TCB in a long time... Do you know how long it usually takes for them to credit for eBay purchases?

Not to stir the pot or anything, but I was reading the SD's thread regarding this eBay Target GC promotion, and comparing the tone to DIS Board's discussion is dramatically different. They were discussing the 5% Red Card/GC discount and the tone is more condescending than here. On top of that, people are intentionally giving incorrect data points to keep the "deal," or loophole alive.

Wanted to give everyone props for keeping this thread honest and alive for 534 pages.

Back to the topic, I have been anticipating getting off work all day to rush to get my UPS package from GCM. Not a good sign that 50% of the promotion is almost over. Let's see if I can get these cards to activate in time for a purchase. Anyone on a crunch as well? haha
