Disney Gift Card Deals

I cruised through the MyPoints redemption area last night & it found the redemption value varied depending on what you cash out for. I did a handful of back-of-envelope calculations, but from what I gathered, 1.4% is pretty much best case scenario. Cashing out for lower amounts with more popular or liquid avenues resulted in a return rate of much closer to 1%. I haven't done an exhaustive comparison, so if I'm way off here, please let me know.

It may be still worth it to not have to buy and/or ship unnecessary items to qualify for a 2% rebate, but just wanted to make sure everyone understood the numbers involved.

Yes. I am not a fan of Mypoints as a shopping portal for exactly this reason. The cheapest redemptions are not for Target or eBay. It is for places like Macy's. I earn on Mypoints when there is no other shopping portal (West Elm) or through email clicks, but the redemption rates aren't great and points have been devalued over the years.

Does anyone do all of the daily earning features on SwagBucks? It seems like there is some promise there go from SB points > Target > Disney Gift cards.

There is a Swagbucks thread on this forum that you should check out. Many people use Swagbucks to fuel their vacations savings through gift card churning.

Thank you. I tried to look at MyPoints late last night once I got all my kids to bed but I was too tired and it just wasn't making any sense. You saved me the hassle today.

Back to report a no-go at Lowes. As stated above, the register is pinged to not accept the gift card as payment. The clerk didn't know why. she asked the head cashier, who told her that gift cards are not considered Lowe's merchandise. I called hubby and told him to go back and tell whomever he talked to that they were wrong --- it was the manager. Go figure.

Now I sit with my churning money tied up at Lowe's and can't get the Disney gift cards there. :o(

Well, that stinks! But thanks for getting back to this thread and letting everyone know that things haven't changed at Lowe's.

At this point, you have a couple of options open to you:
  • Sell the Lowe's GCs, possibly at a loss, and recoup what you can for your Disney fund.
  • Or, use the Lowe's GCs whenever you need to make a purchase there and add the cash to your Disney fund. It's sort of like paying yourself back but it will be slower than just selling them outright.

Sorry. I was hopeful things had changed at Lowes. I second Marionnette's post so you can recoup your DIsney money.

Does anyone know if party supplies work on a Target order to receive ebates credit? My youngest turns 5 in a couple of mos so I thought I could buy some party supplies (napkins, plates, etc).

I added a pack of party plates to one of my recent orders and received Ebates credit. I'll be doing it again on my next several orders until I get everything I need for the next family birthday.

I used to do a lot on my points and have always redeemed for Macy's because it's one of the best deals. I generally always need\want clothes or shoes. I don't feel like the prices of gc have changed, you may not get as many points for some things. It's still 5 points per email and the surveys haven't changed, though I have up on them because I was rarely qualifying. About the only thing I'll buy through them is Groupon or livingsocial but I don't buy much online these days.

I wish there was a way to exchange them with others, in November we went to WDW and I forgot a few of my gift cards. Hubby found them when we got home, i ended up selling them to a neighbor for 15% loss. I would have loved to trade with someone like you, as we are doing some kitchen remodeling. There are some websites out there that exchange, but they take a big cut.

I have had every order I've made through MyPoints credit when purchasing my Disney gift cards with the target gift cards. I like not having to buy stuff I normally wouldn't just to get the transaction to credit!

I've been buying them for 2 years now.

Yes it will credit just giftcard orders. It takes 30 days for it to enter your account and you get "points" that you can exchange for another giftcard. The rate is 1.4% when you exchange vs 2% but at least I don't have the worry I have with Ebates.

I just thought I'd point out that, theoretically, you could "churn" Target gift cards indefinitely and earn MyPoints without spending a penny. If you receive a $5 Target gift card with a purchase (FWP), you could go to MyPoints and buy another Target gift card with it, thus earning 10 points. Take that new $5 gift card and use it to buy another one...and so on and so forth. Now, I am NOT recommending that anyone do this. It would certainly raise red flags with Target and MyPoints if people just started doing this repeatedly. The reason I mention it is because it is a way to earn some points (to save towards more free gift cards) when you COMBINE your Target gift cards. For example, I have a $25 Target gift card from Swagbucks and a $5 one from Perk. Once I earn another $20 from Swagbucks, I will go through MyPoints to combine them into a single, $50 Target card, which will earn me 100 MyPoints. Yes, it's slow, but it's something...and I always have a Disney trip planned.

Got my Target GC's from eBay in the mail today! Now to wait for a sale on either eBay or Disney GCs, or another eBay bucks promotion. I have $24 in eBay bucks so far, so I may cash out my mPoints for eBay cards from now-April so I can get the highest possible value Target GC.

I may also switch to using My Points for my Target orders so I don't have to buy things I don't really need. I also wouldn't end up with odd amounts left on GCs that way.

Since the combine button went away, this is what I have been doing too

I ordered a dry cleaning kit ( something I really needed) from target with my last gift card order. That didn't credit. Should have ordered a ruler too!

Groceries and Toiletries won't credit. The kit must have fallen under one of those categories.
