Disney Gift Card Deals

I think after all the recent sales like on Cyber Monday (15% sitewide) and the current 20% coupon which applies to all your eligible items, a lot of the cheap items are wiped out. I usually do a placemat but those are slim pickins right now.

Well at least everyone else has this problem too. Misery loves company :grouphug:. I just decided to not deal with the online stuff this time and hit Target up for the gc deal. I wasn't going to stress myself over it (the second I get there I assume every single person there is out to get "my" deal. Too stressful!) but once I kept running into "shipping not available" online I figured I would check inventory (thanks PP who linked to the DPCI checker thing). Low and behold they showed like 130 or so. Went down and found them easily, but only about 18. Searched everywhere for the rest and an employee checked and told me what isle--it happened to be one I had already looked at so I was doubtful. When I looked I was disappointed to find a huge stack of 50's until I realized the 25's were placed behind them. I grabbed a few more and put the 50's back over them. Hey, I am just leaving it like I found it :teeth: --and I know where to find them if I decided to grab a few more by the end of the week.

The $15 Starbucks giftcards were tagged as working for the promo but did not trigger a gift card. I saw two different card styles in the $15 denomination but didn't think much of it. I wonder if only one of them works since I saw reports of people successfully getting the gc on them.

I've seen people mention gift cards stocked in the back. How do you find someone who actually knows what they are talking about?

I ask because a few months back, I went to Target to buy Chick Fila gift cards, for chicken nuggets for a baby shower i was throwing. I picked the specific Target I went to, because the Target website itself said there was like 72 in stock. However, they were nowhere to be found. In fact, the only place with a spot for it at all was the endcap near electronics/toys. (Of course, I wasn't aware of the separate gift card spot(s) in electronics at the time). But, it was wiped out.

I went to customer service to ask them about it. They checked their inventory, and sure enough they said it was in stock. So, they paged their "Gift Card Manager" who went and hunted for them, couldn't find them either, and then came up and said, "Well, if they aren't there, they aren't anywhere. That's the only place they would be."

I even pressed about their inventory showing some in stock, and neither of them mentioned the thought of looking in the back to see if there was more back there. Were they just being intentionally unhelpful, or customer service duds? SHOULD a customer service person know about the gift card stock in the back? Just wondering in case I need to call someone on it.

Grrr, I'm starting to get a bit frustrated. I'm home from work today w/pneumonia and had an errand to run - and I went by two Targets on the way, so stopped into both. They had each been wiped out entirely. One guest service person told me someone had bought 100 earlier and cleaned them out. Then I called another handful of area Targets on my drive home and they were all out too, some telling me that others were looking for the same thing. These stores all had 80+ showing on the inventory tracker site. Being sick, I don't have the energy to hunt through every store right now, so I guess I'll be calling around some more and keeping my fingers crossed there are 26 more somewhere. At least I live in an area with a lot of Targets, I guess. I sure picked the wrong week to be sick, though. :crazy2:

I went to back my nearest Target after the online inventory tracker showed they had 50 of the $25.00 Disney cards in stock (I was there yesterday and couldn't find anything but $50s and $100s. I couldn't find any and asked the CS desk to check for me (with the DPCI number I had written down). She told me they had none in stock. She was nice enough to check nearby stores and sent me 4 miles away to another Target that showed 60 in stock. I found 3 (even though their in store inventory showed they didn't have any). A nice CS rep there called a store that was showing 100 in stock 5 miles away and asked if they would put 24 on hold for me. They didn't want to, but he talked them into it.

I drove up to the store, waited in line for 10 minutes at CS and of course they had no idea what I was talking about:furious:. A supervisor was nice enough to track down a huge stack of the $25.00 gift cards (even though I had looked before I lined up) and asked how many I wanted! I said 24 would be good. The clerk rang them up and my Red (debit) card wouldn't work :furious:. Spent over 20 minutes on hold with the 1-888 number since I knew there was more than enough funds in the account to cover the purchase, but they said I had exceeded my limit for the week (I never even knew I had a limit -- but I had purchased several $50.00 Disney cards at my local store Monday and yesterday). I gave up at that point and just had them put $200.00 of the cards on my Red (debit) card, which worked, and the rest on my Visa. The 1-888 Red card number said the "debit" card is not actually a "debit" card as the funds don't transfer right away. She said it can take up to 3 days for Target to receive the funds from my bank account. Once they have the funds (which came out of my account immediately) they will clear up more space on my card. She said it's basically like writing a check to Target and they have to wait for the funds to "clear".

So that took about 2.5 hours out of my day. The savings are very nice, but I was so tired, frustrated and hungry by the end of it I wanted to scream. I am contemplating going to the store that said they had 100 in stock on Friday (when the funds will have cleared on my Red card) and buying another $500.00. We have a trip with ABD booked for the summer and I would LOVE all the savings we can get. But I have learned my lesson and will call CS first and make sure they have cards in stock first!

I was curious and I thought of some reason why the inventory online might be inaccurate:

(1) They're misplaced by shoppers. Mrs. Smith decided she didn't need that extra GC or puts it carelessly in the wrong position by customers/workers.
(2) Stolen inactive GCs are not balanced with inventory.
(3) They stock it too many random places. So random that when you want it, you can't find it, but when you don't need it, it's easy to spot.

Got a email announcing the spend $50 on boys clothes and get a $10 Target Gift Card. Since I never dd make it to the store to get my remaining $100s in Disney Gift Cards I am tempted to get the boys some long sleeve shirts and gloves for winter. Then take the $10 target gift card and the $5 Target gift Card I have left over from the Disney Cards I got last week and buy a Disney Card on line from the comfort of my own home. Save time and gas and 20% with the red card. Plus if I could get a Target Gift Card through raise for the rest that would be even more savings. I was really hoping to get some Disney Gift Cards through Disney and have as a keep sake. I love all the different designs they have but it is just too addicting to pass up the savings through Target!!!

The store in Cedar Park on 1431 has, or at least had, some $25. They had 3 last night and I bought 2. They are in the book department, very near Christmas stuff. I think I have enough GCs for this trip, but if I get back in there I will try to see if they've been restocked.

Thanks. Let me know if you see any more. :)

My tracker still shows my three closest Targets with no change in the inventory (on two) and then one location dropped by two gift cards. My favorite location shows 58 and has not budged since Monday so DH went before his hockey game last night and nothing there. He asked and they said they didn't have any and he looked quickly. My Mom is going there later today and I think she'll "dig" around a little more so hopefully she'll find where they might be hiding or like many have said, they could be sitting in a box in the back and no one seems to care or they can't locate it/them. I'm please with what I have saved but would like about $300 more now.

Went to my local Target this morning bc the inventory tracker site showed they had 154 $25 Disney GC. Didn't find them up near the cash registers, so checked back in the electronics dept. Found LOTS there! Yay! But it gets better!...........!
Bought $250 worth and at check out I swiped my RedCard and the 5% came off! Was totally not expecting that!!
This morning a medical test that had me worried came back neg and now this! It's a good day!

What are y'all doing with your Target Gift Cards you get from the Disney GC purchases? Attempting to buy more Disney Cards? I've got $300 in target cards and I'm trying to figure out the best strategy. Thinking if I can find more $25 GCs at Target then using the $300 to buy more Disney $$ and then getting a few more Target GC's to stash away.

That is probably confusing to follow lol.

Yes. I'm combining the Target gift cards online and using them to buy more Disney cards.

Just reviewed my Target receipts from Dec 7 and I only received 4.5% my transactions. I made about 10 transactions at 2 different stores of only disney cards and the 5% red card discount is only 4.5%! At both stores- anyone else?! I don't know what to do, do I really want to fight with a manager for 0.5%?

It's bc the value of the free target gift card is taken off of the Disney gift card. You are "paying" for the target gift cards and they are not eligible for the red card discount.

I need SWA gift cards so I am combining my Target gift cards to use for those. I'm hoping for a few more of the "e-card" promotions. Last week (?), I was able to buy a $100 SWA e-gift card and I received a $5 Target card.

I was planning to buy more Disney gift cards but then DH wanted a PS4 and DS10 wanted Nintendo 3dsxl thing so I got those instead. They were almost free :)

Something similar happened to me. Here's what's going on: The value of the target gift card ($5/2 = $2.50) is subtracted from the value of each Disney card ($25 becomes $22.50) THEN, the 5% is deducted from THOSE values. So, where 20 $25 Disney cards should cost $475 ( 20 x $25 = $500 x 5% = $25 off) after Redcard discount, it is costing $477.50 (20 x $22.50 = $450 x 5% = $22.50 off). After I pushed a $5 payment onto my target card at the customer service desk, the full purchase went right through. If you're bumping up against your Redcard limit, a minimal cash payment will clear it up.

I got the $15 Starbucks cards. They did not trigger the target gift card, but when I asked they gave it to me without checking a manager or anything.

The $15 Starbucks cards had the tag and worked correctly for me at the register.

I got the $15 Starbucks card and the Target gift card came up automatically. Today, I bought 2 $15 iTunes gift cards and got another $5 Target card. I'm trying to decide if I want to go back and load up on a few more of both. DH pays $0.99/month for his iCloud storage so a $15 iTunes card would last him a full year:goodvibes.
