Disney Gift Card Deals

I was able to buy a $25 Xbox digital gift card on bestbuy.com with a Best Buy gift card this morning. I pay my son in Xbox gift cards for mowing the lawn. At least I can liquidate my last $50 fairly painlessly

Didn't realize this would work? So certain cards work online with a BB gc but others don't?

Has anyone been watching for BB reports on another site? I'll be traveling to my hometown in another state pretty soon so I'm wondering if I can find any reports from there... I haven't seen anyone on this thread from there, doesn't seem like many midwest people here.

Though I might try another BB in my area based on @mfly 's experience. It's just not too convenient so I won't be able to go until the weekend.

Yes. I noticed a comment about it on DoC. If you go to pay and there is an option to pay with a gift card it will work.

Just an FYI I have not had luck with my Ebates sticking for Sam's gift card purchases. It states it doesn't qualify for cash back. But fingers crossed yours stays!

Yes let us know if you receive it. In January/Feb i purchase about 600 dollars in gift cards with Ebates/Sams Club and ebates would
not honor it stating it was gift cards. They never did that before. I went back and forth with customer service multiple times before
they said they would make an exception this ONE TIME but not going forward.


Somewhere along the lines they have changed to exclude gift cards so I'm glad i got them when i could. A shame.

My daughter successfully flipped BBGC to DGC in College Station, Texas this morning. She did buy more than just a card, not sure if that mattered in the transaction.

For those who are stuck with BB gift cards that need to convert them to Disney gift cards...

Do you think it would be possible to purchase an item with the gift cards and then return ("exchange") it for a Disney gift card? I have $75 to convert which is equivalent to a $69.99 item. If I were to purchase an item and pay with the gift cards, my total would be $74.19. I'm wondering if I could then do an "exchange" for a $75 Disney gift card and pay the remaining balance with my Visa card?? I thought I had read somewhere that you could exchange merchandise for gift cards but I'm not sure. Has anyone tried it??

Absolutely not. You will get the money refunded on your best buy gift card or in a best buy gift card. You can always try to ask for cashback but most stores stopped that a very long time ago. No way do you get a Disney gift card back.

Read on another site that it's up to the regional manager of the BB stores in your area as to what GCs can be bought with a GC. No idea how accurate that is, but thought I'd share since it might explain why some stores are working and others aren't.

I've added some highlights and knowledge gleaned from our convo here to the convo over there. Honestly, DPs here are more helpful but we're trying to get it figured out over on DoC as well and more DPs are almost always a good thing so the commenters over there are contributing their DPs, there just aren't that many of them it seems and some comments are useless and actually harmful imho- someone literally just declared all was fine as long as you didn't try to purchase more than $200 because they talked to their friend at Best Buy OMG- I replied very clearly to the parent comment they'd replied to that I have heard of people denied $25, $50 and variable loads.

I think we on the DIS have figured it out! It's YMMV by store and it can't be overridden, if the computer says no you're out of luck. (And we have @mfly to truly thank for that DP of one BB not working but then the one 5 miles away worked fine!)

Maybe this can help figure out if the B.B. deal is being shut down by territory. Found this that shows the 6 territories for Best Buy. Worked yesterday for me in Arkansas and multiple people in Texas have mentioned it works for them. Anyone in Territory 3 not have it work for them?

I’m in region 4 which appears to be a no go. Maybe time for a NC road trip! This makes no sense.

Interesting. I work in territory 4 and that didn't work yesterday but I live in 5 (I think, it's a tiny smidge in Ohio) and that did work yesterday.

They're a for profit company, it's their prerogative to update store policies whenever they see fit. This may affects 10% of the people that shop at BB, since most people wouldn't ever think to buy a gc with a gc. This is no different than a sale or promotion that gets pulled early because it was being abused, it's just the criminals that were abusing this.

I'm honestly surprised that Target and Walmart are still allowing it. Target must think that requiring the access codes lessens the impact though I don't know how it would.

You are way off base here. If a sale gets pulled early, then you can't buy the item and it didn't cost you anything. Here we already bought the gift cards, with terms and conditions that said it could be used to buy 3rd party gift cards. They are changing the terms after they already sold us the gift cards.

According to your logic, they have the right next week to say you can only use the gift cards for refrigerators and washing machines. Or maybe Disney will say you can only use a Disney gift card for hotels and not for park tickets, or for food in the park. That would be ludicrous. They sold the gift card with a certain set of rules, and they can not change it after it has already been sold.

That being said, they will get away with it unless we all complain to Best Buy Corporate HQ and our state attorney generals. It worked by ebay when all of us complained, it will work if enough people complain again.

Yeah it seems to make sense- we have reports of it working in Pa but not De, which are different territories.

Not sure how accurate this is. I live in Southern California and I'm able to purchase Disney gift cards with gifts cards at the location by my work however others in Southern California say there locations have not worked. I just went on my lunch today and I was able to convert my gift card to a gift card.
