Disney Gift Card Deals

Has anyone used a Walmart gift card at walmart to buy a Disney gift card recently? I did it a few weeks ago, but all of these sudden changes have me nervous! I'm going to cash out some Swagbucks and want to make sure it works. I know I could cash out for Paypal, but I can get the Walmart one for less. :) Thanks so much!

I used Walmart at Sams club this past weekend to buy Disney cards. No issues. I’d imagine Walmart should be the same.

Well, as I suspected, I can now confirm that Grand Rapids no longer allows GC->GC purchased at BB. I asked about rewards certificates and they said those will no longer work either. So, that’s that...no more B.B. Visa for me. I will stick to Target but I might just switch to PayPal to be safe. My vacation budget just took a $150 hit between the rewards and gift cards that I’m now stuck with, I have a little work to do over the next five months. My goal was to go with $1500 in gift cards that I didn’t have to pay for and I had $1350 so far. That includes that $150 that I didn’t manage to convert in time. Oh well....

A No-Go in Cherry Hill, NJ. Cashier knew right away that it would not work. I have a few more BB near me I'll have to try. Someone's comment about stores 5 miles apart having different results gives me hope. I have $300+$30 from this cashstar deal. We'll have no problem spending it if I can't get GCs with it but I'm not going to mention them to DH just yet. He'll have them spent in no time.

I have no real data points - but I'm wondering if it is simply a matter of which Best Buy's have run the update on their system yet. As soon as they update it changes their system and they are done??
This is what I assumed it was. I hope I'm wrong and GC-GC stays available for some.

It was a no go in king of Prussia pa. Cashiers we’re like, nope no more gift cards.
Darn. I was hoping you'd find me a back up plan.

I am going to try this evening in TN, finally got my B.B. card I ordered form SB on the first. Will let you all know what happens here. But doesn’t sound promising

It worked for me in Arizona last night. I had $100 BB GCs that I used to purchased Disney GC with, and then I sat down in a chair by checkout and purchased the cashstar deal and immediately bought more disney and Hotels.com GCs with the $300 e-GC. I'll use the 3 $10 GC's to get Black Panther Blu-ray in a few weeks if I can't get more GCs.

I did the math and if I sell my $50 gift card on Raise for $49 (2% off, which is the "going rate"), I will net $43.12 after they take their commission. Then, I can take that and use the BB QR code to buy a Disney gift card and earn the 600 SB so my net "loss" will only be $0.88. I guess that my vacation account can take that hit. I never paid any money for the gift card so I technically did not "lose" any money in this deal. I just can't use it towards the intended purpose.

I am fairly certain that the rewards certificates cannot be sold so I will have to spend those on something at BB, but I'm sure I'll find something. I'm not sure what I will do with my other $25 BB gift card. I'm going to hold onto it for now until I let my final BB Visa billing cycle close. Once I figure out what my final amount of rewards will be, I will figure out what I might want to buy. If I need the $25 to get it, I will keep the gift card. If not, I will sell it on Raise and by then, I should have another $25 in SB to cash out to PayPal so I can combine it and get another $50 Disney gift card.

I might have missed this but did you actually try using the rewards cert?

No....the store was nearly empty and the cashier and greeter (both were familiar faces to me) were chatting with me about how I use the gift cards at Disney and how I earn them. I politely voiced my disappointment that they will no longer accept my BB gift cards and they genuinely seemed upset too. That's when I asked if they happened to know if my rewards certificates could be used since they are technically coupons, not gift cards. The "greeter's" eyes lit up, like I had just had the most genius idea ever, and she said, "You know, that's a great question! Let me check..." She got on her headset and asked someone and her demeanor instantly sunk when she said, "No, sorry...they made those a no-go too". I did not actually try, but the way she made it sound was as if she was aware that they were allowed at one time and now they are not.

There's a lot at BB you could probably get for a disney trip. I always somehow end up breaking my portable chargers, and BB has tons of those. You can get stuff for your camera you might need. So all is not lost with the rewards certificates. I'm definitely going to continue buying my DSGCs from BB at least until the SB deal ends so I'll be racking up those rewards certificates.

You could sell your $50 Best Buy card to Cardpool for $44.75. They have the best buyback prices that I've seen.

My $25 Best Buy swagbucks GC credited today. Just went to Best Buy in Holyoke, MA and had no problem buying a $50 (fixed not variable amount) GC using $25 GC and $25 on my debit card.
