Disney Gift Card Deals

Has the in-store policy changed at all? I'm sitting on less than $50 worth of Target cards so it's not a huge blow to me right now. I'd like to know if something has changed before I get any more.

I must say that I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief seeing that everyone's GC orders have been cancelled AND NOT JUST MINE. I am not happy they have been cancelled, but I was seriously afraid I had been banned!

I'm pretty optimistic it will come back. Their website is HORRIBLE! Last week I tried to order gift cards, pencil sharpeners, and a wedding gift. The website was doing all kinds of wonky things - I don't think the communication between the gift registry and "regular" website is working. I would add the GCs, but then when I tried to put the wedding gift in the cart, it would be empty! After several attempts, I got everything in the cart, but it wouldn't let me ship to separate addresses. And I kept getting the spinning loading symbol over and over again!!! So then, I finally decided to place the orders separately.

So today I got an email about my order being delayed and that I had to go to my order and OK the delay, and I did. And that is when I saw that my entire order (including the wedding gift!) was being shipped to the bride!!! I'm sure she would have loved getting $300 in Disney GCs! So, I canceled my order and tried to re-order and then my orders kept getting canceled. And that's when I came here... And seriously, their IT sucks. I am going to write them a letter with my complaints about their site, but not until I'm done with getting my GCs!

I'm in the same boat with $20 currently in Target gift cards, but a goal of getting $1100 more over the next couple months for our trip starting on Thanksgiving. So I'm hoping it is just a glitch and will change. If not, then I'll just go for the 5% Redcard discount most likely. That will lose me at least $100 in planned savings, but it's still something.

I was able to buy a $50 Disney GC using a $50 Target GC last night in store with zero issues. There is nothing in their system that does not allow it at this point, so it is really individual cashier/Target dependent.

I think it's done. They changed the policy on egift cards first. That never changed back. Then they changed the language. Who knows though. But between possible fraud and sheer volume it was bound to happen.

I think my days of churning are coming to an abrupt end. With BB currently "sold out" (and that's never happened), Walgreens is my only churning avenue right now. I have $300 in WG cards that I was planning on turning into eBay and running them through, but if I can't get BB with them, I don't want to risk having $300 tied up in eBay or Walgreens. I'm skeptical tha Walgreens will keep allowing GC with GC purchases because it is already hit or miss. I think I will cash out $200 to Disney and risk $100 more in eBay. I have over $100 in eBucks coming so that will still leave me $200 to "play" with. If it gets stuck in eBay, I will just get that Apple Watch I've had my eye on:)

Well, I've read that this has happened multiple times in the past, and this is most likely a stock issue. I'm holding out hope that that's true, until I know for sure :)
It's only happening to orders paid with gift cards. I don't think it's an inventory issue but I've been wrong on this stuff lots of times before.

I have a very tight vacation budget (I only allot ~$1500/yr out of our paychecks) I am not someone that will say, "Oh, I'll just use the Target gift card towards groceries and put the cash equivalent in the vacation fund". My mind can't process that...If it is "cash", it is NOT allowed to go into the vacation fund unless it was a rebate or plasma earnings (or the $75 direct deposit from each of my paychecks). Therefore, any time I lose a route to convert gift cards into Disney gift cards, I get nervous because I see that as a huge loss to our vacation fund.
I read your other post about your vacay costs(bravo! great job) and I was thinking about this..... IDK about everyone else here, but the 'simple' ways to save/churn disney are nonexistent right now, it appears that large effort=small savings currently.... so I personally AM changing how I think/earn/save for trips. In my last deal I acquired Visa g/c which I applied (on paper) to my vacation expense fund. However I wasn't able to actually use those to purchase my theme park tix,I had no choice but to use my cc. So I am carrying those g/c with me, and using the for daily expenses,(groceries, etc)till they're used up. I have to, since I 'need' that $$ for my tix, but I had to get 'creative' to get what I needed. So what I do there is calculate the cost of my tix, deduct the savings I creatively applied (on paper) to the actual cost, and keep track of expenditures. It doesn't matter IRL where/how that $$ is spent, just that it comes out of the overall budget as desired. SO I get what you're saying, but for me, altering my perception of what funds go where is helpful.

Effective Aug 4 Target changed their policy to not allow gift card purchases with another gift card and their computer system is now up to date...this purchases being cancelled. A lady posted on a fb thread that she talked to someone at head office because of her purchase being cancelled and this is why...

I am assuming we can still purchase Disney GC's with the Target RedCard and get the 5% off? Small discount but a discount nonetheless.

Yep, that's about the time that the message appeared on Targets Disney gift card page "You cannot use a Target GiftCard to purchase this card".
