Disney Gift Card Deals

Interesting. I thought there were reports here of it working in store yesterday, but maybe in-store systems are not caught up to the policy change yet. This doesn't sound great.

I would assume that within the next few days all the stores will be up to speed so maybe try going asap to see if it still works before they are updated on policy change.

I think it's done. They changed the policy on egift cards first. That never changed back. Then they changed the language. Who knows though. But between possible fraud and sheer volume it was bound to happen.

I agree with this. I know things similar to this have happened with Target before, but this time to me it really feels like gc to gc online is coming to an end for good. Super sad to think this, but it all just seems to coincidental. Might explain why their website has been extra wonky recently also. I tried placing an order yesterday for some school uniforms for my son. My order had no gc in it, but I was using a gc to pay. First, I kept having trouble with my cart, then when I was finally able to checkout I had the same issue that others have posted about recently where it showed my gc payment duplicated. I was able to delete the duplicated gc, but when I clicked to submit my order, it redirected me back to my cart and said there was a problem. Had to go through the whole process again, but finally got my order through.

I will go to target on my lunch break and confirm. I got a Disney GC on sunday using a target GC and had no issues.

If you go back on this thread the same thing was happening. Website acting up, cards in/out of stock, employees saying same thing about changes being made. It might be over this time but this isn't the first time all of this has happened.

While I don't disagree there's no question retailers including target have been getting stricter about gift cards. This is exactly what happened when they stopped allowing egift card purchases with gift cards too. Only time will tell but my money is certainly on this being dead.

So, we all need to put our heads together and come up with a new way to churn. :-)

I need to "find" $1000 by October so that we can upgrade to AP's. I'm on a basically fixed income, so "earning" these gift cards are my only vacation funds. :-(

:scratchin:scratchin:scratchin If anyone can come up with something, it's the people here.

Going to try and unload these in store today. I'll report back. Luckily, I got all of mine at 5.5% or greater, so I don't feel like I've lost anything.

In other news, I had no problems getting Walgreens gcs with ebay gcs yesterday, and had no problems getting ebay with Walgreens today. Walgreens has Disney cards for when it is time to cash out, so while it is not as lucrative as when Target cards were on ebay, it's still feasible. It's important to note that unless there is a promotion going on, it doesn't pay to do this, because the service fees are the equivalent of 2% ebay bucks.

I went to my local Rite-Aid yesterday and the cashier told me to go ahead and try to pay for the BB gc and Cracker Barrel gc with a cc, but she didn't think it would go through because they are trying to cut down on fraud. But it did. So I would try a cc first, if you'd rather pay with that than cash.

I just purchased a $50 Disney GC and two bathing suits with my Red Card just to see what would happen and it hasn't been canceled. This morning the same order using GCs was canceled in like two-three minutes after the order was placed. o_O

ETA: I think I'm headed to my Target today to try to cash out my remaining GCs. Worse comes to worst, I'll hang on to them for Christmas.

Just bought $950 of target gift cards this morning-panicked when I went online and tried to purchase and it wouldn't. Decided to run to target. No 5% off but was able to use my cards thank goodness for that!

People are still having luck in the stores, depending on which store you go to...some are saying no, and some don't know that it's changed over yet, and others are saying that they are still allowing it in store so who knows...I think time will tell :)

This thread gets sadder all the time :sad1:

It's like all the top executives at Target, GS, Ebates, and Ebay all had lunch one day and decided it was time to cut us off.

Or did a quick search on the internet to see how everyone has been capitalizing on this...

But, in reality it probably has more to do with minimizing fraud.

And the likelihood of that is SO small, that I am not planning to quit! Honestly, how many people really do this to the extent that we do? There are maybe 25 names that I see on this thread consistantly, and let say that there are another 50 lurkers who follow what we do, but don't post. The average person sees our process and runs to find something easier and less time consuming.

The stores sell gift cards because it brings us into the stores. When we are there (physically or online), we buy other things. They have to make sure that none of us are laundering money or reselling cards, but other than that, there really is no reason to turn us away, as long as no one tries to buy $2000 worth of cards at one time.

So once again, when you can't make the purchase you want, stop, get a sandwich, and try again later.

I think a lot. Go on the Disney Cruise FB page with 30,000 members. It was generally less detailed than what we discussed but I suspect there were enough people doing it and it was costing them money. Same thing with the ebates loophole.
