@havaneselover - mine show up on the statements as 1% then a separate line for the 5% bonus category, so it does end up being 6%. Between that and the 5% off the price in store/online, it'll be 12% total IF I get credited for the eBates.

@hsmamato2 - yes, I'm talking about the quarterly bonus category, which includes restaurants and club stores this quarter.
Personally, I count it as a discount since I will use the "points" for money off of my credit card bill when I have spent extra on vacation stuff, and since we pay that off monthly there are no extra charges.

Are you sure the 1% isn't for purchases in non-bonus categories? I have a Chase Freedom card and only get 5% not 6%. Also the Chase website lists it as 5% cashback categories not a 5% bonus.

FWIW, the freedom purchases are usually the one point per purchase dollar plus the extra 5 points per dollar in the categories. that makes 6 points per dollar spent in those categories.

Mine show up that way too. But when you do the math, the bonus is 4%, not 5%.

That's not how mine are. The statement shows 1% then another line is the 5% bonus. But it's only 4%. So a $157 bill at the grocery store earned me $1.57 in regular rewards and $6.27 in bonus rewards (not $7.85).

Same here. Mine is definitely 5% total.

@havaneselover is correct as usual. The Freedom card pays a max of only 5% total cash back in the quarterly bonus categories paid in the form of UR points regardless of how poorly Chase shows it on their statements. @hsmamato2 and @jknewberry, please review your statements and do the math. You'll see your normal 1% cash back/UR on one line and an additional 4% on the line that reads "bonus from 2Q 5% cat". Even though Chase poorly shows it as 5%, your only getting an additional 4% on that line if you do the math. I hope this will eliminate the confusion.

Anyone have troubles with SVM Cards? I received two that are showing up in the Walgreens system as invalid cards.

ETA - when I call the number on the card it indicates that funds are available but in store and checking balance online shows the card is invalid.

FYI - Stopped at Walgreens on my way home and purchased a $25 Walgreens gift card. I stopped at the Walgreens by my house and bought a $25 Disney gift card (it was the one you can put $25-$500 on) and swiped the gift card. It went through with no problem, I don't even know if the cashier knew I paid with the gift card as payment. This is in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago.

That happened to me when I bought a Southwest GC at Target. I was stuck in the middle of Target and SW neither taking ownership of the issue. I finally got Target to give me a Target GC for the amount of the SW card but it was a pain, I feel sorry for you.

Do any of the Ebay gift card sellers run promotions on Walgreens cards?
I think I remember seeing a deal on Walgreens cards in the past, but as they say, past performance does not guarantee future results.
Right now, only SVM sells Walgreens gc's

That's awesome! Ha, this is so funny, that's exactly what I did earlier this evening! I couldn't wait any longer to check this out. So I went to one local store and bought a WGC, loadable (and it's reloadable), and put on $25. Wasn't planning on it, but near the end of check out, I asked if the person getting the gc could use it to buy another gc, such as a Disney gc or and Ebay gc. The clerk didn't know, so called over the manager. He didn't know either, they read the back of the WGC and saw nothing preventing it. I mentioned I had a 'friend' who was able to do it in their store, they said to let them know if I find out it would work, that'd be great. I left and went to the next W, got a loadable Ebay card and went to the counter, like I do it all the time, lol. I asked for $25 on it and just slid my Wgc in the machine, no questions, and it went thru right away, easy peasy!! Oh, I'm in Northern Illinois, about 60 miles west of Chicago.

Yes the W I went to had loadable eBay and Disney :) the other nice thing is after they ring you up you just swipe the GC, no need to discuss or debate it as the sale is just completed automatically as if you were using a debit or cc.
Yes SVM is in Il, Arlington Heights, I believe. They sell GC for the company I work for so I have absolutely no concerns about them. They would have been vetted up one way and down the other to protect our brand image.
Glad that SVM is reputable, if a bit slow. That's interesting they had been vetted by your company, good to know! Yes, my two most local one's do, too, I had to check while out today! This is definitely looking better and better for going thru W for some gc's, as I noted above, lol! I was so excited this little test worked, now for the next promo! This could work quite nicely, as I'm still interested in the churn for ebucks, and this is looking like a nice option! One of the draw backs is the shipping cost, so this is best with at least the 4x and 5x promo deals. Glad you tried this and shared the other day!

Raise has several 11.2% disc on Walgreen cards right now, they also have GS for 8.5 which surprised me, last week it was like 1 or 2% off I think also Target has a lot of 5.2% off.

You have to be careful about the the store credit card at Walgreens vs GC. You can not use the store credit cards to buy GC so the raise stuff is not going to work by the amounts on it seems like they are store credit not GC.

Raise is sold out of the Walgreen cards :(

Ah, very interesting thank you so much for pointing that out! I hope everyone that read my post reads your's also.

In the past I bought a large amount of Walgreens gift cards to try and buy Disney gift cards, it states on the gift card that you cannot buy other gift cards with it. I would be leary of trying this.

I have my Walgreen's gift card in hand. It absolutely does not state this. Perhaps you had store credit gift cards or their policies have since changed.

Mine states: "this card cannot be redeemed for cash and no change will be giveb, except in those states which require redemption for cash."

@Friendlyadvice2 Yes, you are right, it is only 5% total. Boo. But still the easiest way to get 11% of Disney gift cards I've seen... Here's what my recent transaction listed (for a restaurant, my Sam's Club membership and Disney Card purchases haven't shown this detail yet):

Bonus from 3Q 5% cat: Restaurants
101.72
+ 1% (1 Pt)/$1 earned on all purchases
25.43
Total Points
127.15
