We have been looking into property in Kanawha City, Charleston, and Elkview. There is a lot of work to do yet, but our hope is to be up and running by next summer!! My friend and I are OCD about details, and we want to make sure we set ourselves up for success.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the school bread is in Norway, in Epcot. I believe it's called the Kringla Bakery...
Thats correct.
I rarely EVER say anything bad about a food at WDW, but at the same place I tried the "Kringla Daily Chef's Selection - Your choice of gourmet sandwich with a cup of soup, with your choice of rice cream, veiled maiden or no sugar added chocolate mousse $9.99". While the rice cream and the soup were both very good, the open faced Salmon sandwich was very VERY fishy. I couldnt stomach it. My son is a big Salmon fanatic (autistic children seem to love salmon for some reason...) and he liked it and ate every bite. I could have gotten an off night. I would try it again if it were free.
However, I've tried most of the desserts in there, and all of them are near perfect!!!

I have to ask, and I do not mean to start any rant (please), but does anyone else in here cringe at the sight of these half cooked meats here??? I know its all in preference, and I respect your right to eat bloody meat and enjoy it. My father in law has an expression about how he likes his steak cooked (I quote word for word) "Wipe his butt, drag him across the grill once, and throw him on a bun".
I prefer mine better though "burn it till not a SPEC of pink shows and CHAR the outside till its crispy".:stir: :stir: :stir: :stir:

^^^ Yes, you are right Self. The open faced salmon sandwich is an iffy thing. I usually order it; but have been "over-fishey" some times.

Got to love the deserts though :cool1:

I'll be eagerly waiting for this new restaurant in my hometown! Seems like everything new that opens is a chain of some sort. So far best Italian I've had was last summer in Boston when we visited my husband's cousin. Her husband is 100% Italian. We went to the fisherman's feast & ate at a small family (not our family's) restaurant.

:rotfl2: hahahaha....that's awesome! I am one of those like your father-in-law! I was showing my parents our pictures from our recent trip to WDW today, and she commented that all of my food pictures looked raw! I guess you're right...it's just a preference. My biggest exception - hamburger! MUST COOK the hamburger meat WELL DONE.

We ran into a situation at Planet Hollywood last month. My husband and I both like our steaks medium well. Just a hint of pink, not red. So DH orders his steak medium well and they bring it to him, he cuts into it and blood, I mean the real stuff, not juice mind you, runs out and pools under his french fries. Yeah totally nasty. We sent it back and it came back slightly more done but still not to his liking. So he ate some of it and his french fries and let it go. This was our first and LAST time to eat a PH.

Smoked salmon can often be like that. Really really fresh smoked salmon has a little fishy scent, but if it has been sitting there for a while, and has gone down to room temperature, it gets fishier. I come from a 4th generation Jewish family where sunday mornings are bagels, smoked salmon (or sometimes lox, depending on their moods) cream cheese, and onion is breakfast and lunch. So basically, I have encountered a lot of smoked salmon. **gets dizzy** :)

DH is like you..I'm somewhere in between you and your FIL but more towards your side then your FIL's. On our last trip to WDW in October we discovered that DS (11) likes his meat rare!! I've always cooked his steak the same way I cook DH's, with not a hint of pink showing. When we went to Ohana, neither DH or I could eat the meat because it wasn't done enough for us...DS on the other hand was chowing down raving about how awesome it was, lol.

No wonder you like lots of spice..........you cook all the flavor out of the meat! :rotfl: I do like a nice rare steak, but so many like overcooked meat. I even cook pork to medium/medium well because the meat loses most of it's natural moisture if you cook it past medium; this results in a dry, tough, chewy finished product. Hamburger needs to be cooked completely just like chicken and turkey though.

Why spend the money for beef tenderloin when you turn it into a tough piece of round steak by over cooking it. :scared1:

Oh, yes. Can't stand the thought of pink meat. Or things that dwell on the bottom of the ocean. ICK! :scared1: So I just look at the stuff around (sometimes the stuff around it looks wonderful!) it or skip right past it.

That's not butter on top, it's pudding! Just so you know. It is delish and a must have every trip :)

Thanks! LOL, I was wondering why someone would put butter on that. Pudding never crossed my mind for some reason. I guess I was thinking school "bread" and butter! :lmao:
