Disney Fantasy - June 17, 2017 - 11 night Southern Caribbean

One month to go!! Who's getting excited?!!??!! Ok.. most of us already were. FYI... I tried calling DCL today to see if I could get a little more info about the Castaway Club reception and when it would be scheduled. But.. their line is down?? Called (800) 951-3532 and all I get is a busy signal. What's up with that??

You are trying to call on a day where all of the castaway club members can book for Fall 2018. Tomorrow is when the general public can book. The next few days are going to be busy, so the phone lines might not be able to hold the demand at the moment. Try calling later in the day, or within the next several days. You should be able to get through. :)

Do you know which decks have self serve laundry? Does it cost anything, or are these controlled by our KTTW Cards as well? Is it best to bring our own laundry detergent?

Do you know if the "room service" option is expensive. I don't know what to call it. The thing where they take your laundry and bring it back to your room for you.
On the Dream class ships all stateroom decks have a laundry room on them:
The laundry rooms are on decks:
2 – port side forward opposite stateroom 2004
5 – port side aft opposite stateroom 5190
6 – starboard side forward opposite stateroom 6510
7 – port side forward opposite stateroom 7014
8 – port side between midship and aft elevators opposite stateroom 8150
9 – starboard side forward opposite stateroom 9500
10 – starboard side just aft of the midship elevator opposite stateroom 10572

$2.00 wash/$2.00 dry. Laundry soap $1.00. You use your KTTW card to activate. I usually bring my own detergent. Mostly because I can get a box at the dollar store that will do about 6-8 loads for the same price as the little $1.00 box from the machine.

Laundry list. Not terribly expensive.

Typically, the Castaway Club reception is the first sea day. I would expect it to be around 10:00 am. That's usually when it's been on our cruises.

But, of course, all that may change with the new restriction of it only being on long cruises now.

Thanks! It's great to know that each deck has one. Also, those laundry service prices look cheaper than at WDW.

Hopefully it won't interfere with our M&G since the time can always change I'm assuming. :)

Ahhh.... that explains that. Thanks. My request would not have been nearly as urgent as booking a sailing. Also... GOT THE CRUISE DOX YESTERDAY!!!

I know you are right. But, I don't remember it being that soon in the cruise (and early!). They aren't messing around!

One month to go! Woo Hoo! :flower:

I started putting clothes aside awhile ago. (It takes a lot of planning - on cruises dh and I like to match color or theme with our shirts. I know, I know! Ha ha!) Besides, I am getting side-tracked because we are going to WDW for 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend so I have that packing going on, too.

We pack the same for an 11 night trip as we do for a 7 night trip. Typically (for me), enough underwear for 7 days, and 3/4 tshirts, 2 nice blouses, 2 pants/capris (don't do shorts). Plus the basic swimsuit, nightwear, couple of light sweaters/wraps and formalwear. And, of course, can't forget the pirate gear.

For a long trip (over 14 days) I'll add another blouse, and pair of pants. That's not counting what I'm actually wearing for the travel day. And I pack a blouse/shirt and a set of underwear in my carry on bags.

We always use the self serve laundry at least once. Sometimes twice.

We kinda do the same with packing the same for a longer cruise as we do for a 7-nighter. Everything has to be worn twice. But, it will be hot and sweaty in June so I will pack an extra t-shirt just in case. Beach days are the second day of wear for shirts with bathing suit under it. We usually do laundry once on an 11-nighter. If need be, I hand wash underwear in the bathroom. We also repeat dinner clothes and I mix and match - dressy top will be worn 1 night with pants, then with a skirt or dressy shorts. My dressiest outfit will be worn on formal night and also at Palo. No pirate wear for us, we are going to Palo that night and after dinner will change into shorts for the fireworks.

Cabanas should be open for dinner every night. I normally go to the dining rooms though, so i can't tell you how good it is or what offerings they typically have.

I didn't realize it was every night. Maybe not the 1st or last night?

I've read mixed reports on Cabanas for dinner. For us, last cruise, we went to Cabanas 1 night and it was excellent! The waiters are supposed to be those working their way up. But, the Cabanas waiter was one of the best DCL waiter we ever had and our MDR waiters were not so great on that cruise. Go figure. And.... the steak was fantastic! It was a very relaxed and enjoyable meal.

We'll see what the MDR situation is like this time. We are planning on going to Cabanas definitely 1 night on this upcoming cruise.

Ok. So, I just looked up some previous navigators on the Disney Cruise Line Blog website for the Fantasy, and I stand corrected. The first night of the cruise, Cabanas is not open. It also shows to not be open on the last night of the cruise. This is for 7-night sailings. Sorry. I just assumed it would be open. I have never tried it though.

I also looked up our cruise on the DCL website, and I have noticed our cruise isn't sold out yet.

What is everyone looking forward to most about the ship? Personally, I grew up in California until last year when I officially moved after I graduated from college. For that reason, I can't wait to see the Aladdin Musical again. I know it's different on the ship since I saw it last summer, but I miss that show at DCA.

I know on one of my DCL cruises, we had a big name singer perform (a country singer). Does anyone think we might get one of those since it is a longer cruise?

Yeah... sure its nothing to really worry about. This was the first sailing out of a brief overhaul.

Correct, Cabanas is not open for dinner the first and last night of any given cruise. So on a 3 night cruise it's only open one night for dinner, for example.

:sunny:Man, it has turned so darn hot and humid down here in South Florida lately! It is a reminder to me how hot it is going to be in the Caribbean in June. I've sailed in the Caribbean during the summer many times. But somehow, I always forget how hot it will be! I've decided to pack an extra t-shirt or 2. As soon as you put on a fresh shirt, you're gonna sweat right thru it! We're going to WDW this weekend and that will also be a hot one!

P.S. I've asked on a couple of threads, but have never really gotten an answer. If we buy a refillable popcorn bucket this weekend at WDW, will it be the same design as the one on the ship? And, can we get it refilled on the ship? Anyone ever do that?
