Disney Fantasy - June 17, 2017 - 11 night Southern Caribbean

The hotel we are staying at the night before (Hilton Homewood Suites) is also sold out for the night of June 16. But, I believe the huge Oasis of the Seas is also sailing, so there may be a lot of those people staying there, too.

Down here in South Florida we have been having Super Soaker 2017! Tons of rain - 10 inches in some areas. Malls have been closed! We will be getting relief the next couple of days with only scattered rain. I just saw the local forecast and they said heavy rain will be returning next Thursday with 70% chance of rain and a blob of heavy stuff in the Bahamas (very close to South Florida!). I hope and pray the tropics behave for us and we leave all this bad stuff behind!

Correction...... dh said although we got 10 inches, western Ft. Lauderdale out by the Everglades and the Sawgrass Outlet Mall got 15 inches.

I'm just praying for a break early, early Saturday morning (when our plane is landing).

I can handle the rain on the cruise/WDW afterwards, just want to get there in time to catch the ship.

Let's hope!! It will be a couple of weeks plus before we get back up to Castaway Cay so hopefully by then this pattern will have moved on.

On another note... DW is already in packing mode. I've been told to stay out of the way!!

Wasn't thinking of CC - just getting to and in the tropics in general. I haven't checked out any of the island forecasts yet.

I don't ever remember ever having this much heavy rain for such a long continuous time. Although sun is peaking thru today!

The big Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall in Fort Lauderdale remains closed Friday for the third day in a row after several inches of rain flooded its parking lots and roadways.

Correction to my original post about the rain...... dh said we got 10 inches but western Ft. Lauderdale out by the Everglades and the Sawgrass Outlet Mall got 15 inches.

The packing has begun! I'm trying desperately not to over pack, but it still seems like a lot. Every top (am or pm) must be worn twice. We'll do laundry, but probably only underwear, socks, nightshirts, and hack around t-shirt/shorts. Maybe some other t-shirts if they are ready to be washed. It is gonna be hot and sweaty!

Next time this week we'll be in and all snug at our Port Canaveral hotel!

I haven't started packing yet. I went shopping this week to get a couple things to hopefully prolong doing laundry on this cruise. It won't help much since we are doing 3 days at WDW beforehand. We will probably have to do laundry on this cruise. I just don't know if we are going to do the housekeeping laundry service or do the self-laundry service.

It is almost here everyone!!! I can't wait to meet everyone on this first sea day!

Question about the meet, does anyone think DCL will show the FIFA Confederations Cup on our cruise in O'Gills? It is scheduled to be on the FOX networks, but I know they sometimes show sports on those channels if the games are big. I'm only saying this, because there is a game scheduled to be going on during our meet, and O'Gills could be crowded.

Possibly... You never really can predict what they will be able to broadcast. My guess is we'll be ok. American football will fill up the ships pubs for sure but don't know about soccer.

Do you know who's playing?? Is it a US match?

There might be a few folks camped out for the US Open (golf) as well. I think that will be broadcast on FOX as well.

Sadly, the U.S. didn't qualify for this tournament. After looking at the schedule though, Mexico and Portugal play at 10 a.m. so that will probably be the most popular match of the day. The other match is Chile and Cameroon. The only reason why I brought up soccer is I think that DCL will show soccer, because they tend to show sports that are popular in their workers locations. Soccer is really a world sport which is why I was worried about that. I was on a ship last summer I think for the UEFA Cup, and the bar was full for every game and it was all European teams. I can't remember if that was shown on ESPN though or not.

Have fun at WDW!

I think I've seen this happen on other cruises. They pull it to finalize room assignments, and then it may show up again.
Right you are!! It's back up. Looks like only one stateroom is available though. #11016 Conceirge Verandah.

I can't wait to meet all of you!

Another sport that will be going on is the College World Series I think.

Martinique has given me so much trouble on this cruise regarding port adventures. We booked one excursion early on, but decided that wasn't for us. We couldn't find anything to switch to at that point for the longest time until something opened up. Then 3 weeks ago, we decided we might want to do something else, but the things we want to change to this time only have one spot available. Has anyone had any experience getting a shore excursion they want as soon as they board the ship if it is showing only one spot available online? (I figured there is only one spot available since we can select it for two people, but then it comes back saying that there is no space available.)

Either way, I know we will have fun on this cruise. :)

We're really looking forward to this trip as well.. We also had a little trouble booking PAs early on but ended up getting what we wanted (or something similar). Martinique is the one port in which we booked a trip that does not include a beach or snorkeling. I LOVE THE WATER in the Caribbean. We ended up doing the volcano and rum distillery (MQ07).

In answer to your question, you can definitely book a PA on the ship. I'm not sure if they "hold back" spots but there's likely to be some cancellations. Just stop by the PA desk on the first sea day and find out what they can do to assist. You can also try getting something outside of Diz. It's usually fairly easy to find out which tour company Diz is working with on a given outing. You'll save a little $$ that way as well. We usually book through Diz just for the sake of convenience.

Good luck!!

You're doing the excursion that we originally had booked. Right now, we are booked for the zoo. Which, if we can't change, I might just keep it since pictures of the grounds do look beautiful.
