Disney Fantasy Blocks

Active Web Cam......Truck 1, does this web cam rotate through out the Meyer-Werft site? Ie does it go into the buildings as well or is there another address?

http://www.meyerwerft.de/index_e.html

Sorry I missed you post initially.

When they built the Dream, it rotated in the bldg, where the Dream was, and outside the bldg to the Celebrity ship was at the wet dock, on a consistent sched. For what ever reason, its staying outside the bldg now.

Just checked out the webcam shot at MeyerWerft - WOW!!! - the main part of the exterior of the Fantasy exterior looks nearly complete! Love being able to check in on the progress!!

I was looking at a side view of the Dream, I would have to say, they have it atleast half built if not slightly over half. Of course I imagine it is just a hull, there is a lot of work to be done inside.

The webcam updates might be slow, but they are sure busy little bees in the construction site!!!

We might see two smoke stacks over the next couple of weeks.

I was looking for Disney Fantasy things on you tube, every once in a while someone posts a tour of the Meyer-Werft Facilities. No such luck for a tour, but I did find this...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQE27VqDjMU

The description roughly translates to........Disney Fantasy chimney comes to Meyerwerft
and there is a nother note that states it was "Randomly caught when fishing!"

Another Posted Pic, looks like they are starting to get into painting.

Wikipeidia has some long explanation, but I started falling asleep after the second sentence....but I did find this poem on a google search. Don't call me a chauvinist though. I am just posting for a little humor.

Why is a ship a "she"?
and Bits & Pieces
The Merchant Navy Man | The unusual dog Bamse | Did you know?

We always call a ship a "she" and not without a reason.
For she displays a well-shaped knee regardless of the season.
She scorns the man whose heart is faint and doesn't show him pity.
And like a girl she needs the paint to keep her looking pretty.

For love she'll brace the ocean vast, be she a gig or cruiser.
But if you fail to tie her fast you're almost sure to lose her.
On ships and dames we pin our hopes, we fondle them and dandle them.
And every man must know his ropes or else he cannot handle them.

Be firm with her and she'll behave when skies are dark above you.
And let her take a water wave - praise her, and she'll love you.
That's why a ship must have a mate; she needs a good provider.
A good strong arm to keep her straight, to comfort her and guide her.

For such she'll brace the roughest gales and angry seas that crowd her.
And in a brand new suit of sails no dame looks any prouder.
The ship is like a dame in that she's feminine and swanky;
You'll find the one that's broad and fat is never mean and cranky.

Yes ships are ladylike indeed, for take them altogether
the ones that show a lot of speed can't stand the roughest weather.

Thanks for the poem and other fun facts. I passed them along to my seafaring guys here.

I I would go with this reason for ships use of the pronoun she:

Many romance languages assign a gender to many words. In these languages, the word "ship" is always feminine.

New Pic from the Meyer-Werft webcam, as well as a video of the last major piece of the boat being put in place......

Here is the video address:

In the previous video and pictures from Meyer-Werft you never actually see the bow of the boat. I had assumed it was complete:confused3.

As you can see the camera view has shifted quite a bit. I have a feeling that most of the work for the next few months will all be inside the boat.

Yu are correct. Disney posted an update on FB last week, and the outside is essentially done, except for some finishing and now the major work looming is all inside. :thumbsup2

I don't mind that there isn't as much pomp and circumstance about the Fantasy, but I do hope she gets welcomed in the same fashion as the Dream. That was just awesome:love:

Not much of a change, the front has been painted in where the last two sections were added, and maybe something is going on between the stacks. Could it be pieces of the aquaduck?

Hi Taswira,

I just started following this thread that was started by Truck1 ages ago, and never bothered to check any other. So I started to post pics when ever I noticed a pic, or a video. Send us your thread, and I will subscribe!
