Disney Fantasy Blocks

The panorama view is from when the Dream was in the same dock.

Yep. I agree. I for 1 living here in Fl, can cruise fairly frequently. Theres only so many times you can go to the Bahamas. The second thing is that, with the MAgic having spent a good portion of the last few summers either in Europe or in Cali, it negates the 7 day crusies that a lot of people can take when there kids are out of school. DCL seems to have forgotten that.

I do think they know that and recognize that need, which is why they're not (as far as I know) doing Europe next year and keeping the Magic in the US (Galveston). They realize that they're having to cut one of the more popular cruises, Caribbean, in order to do Med cruises that aren't selling as well. And, with the addition of the Fantasy, I doubt we'll see a lack of 7-day Caribbean cruises like we have this year. ;)

Especially since the new contract states that there will be 2 ships(the Dream and Fantasy are mentioned by name until 2013/14) in PC until it ends. Theres a stipulation that says that if DCL fails to meet a specified number of sailings from PC, or drops to 1 ship, the port can take DCLs terminal and open it to outside lines.

I couldn't get the webcam picture from the week of May 8-May15 2011 to post. Such a newb....but I found this you tube video posted this month. The question is...Is that the Dream or the Fantasy.

Dream. In the video, you can see where the DCL ship is whole, and all the way back against the back doors of the drydock. In the online webcam, the Fantasy, stops right after the foward stack, and the Silouhette is behind her. The Silouhette does not show up in the video.

Here is the latest update of the dock. They should next move the Fantasy back a bit and start the back of the ship.

Hopefully, theyve buttoned the back of the Fantasy up with temp steel plates so shell float while they were waiting. I was wondering the same thing, and the time for her to move back, may depend on when/if any of her next blocks are coming from the other yard, and being towed to Papenburg. From the little I understand, the other yard was slow on orders, and MW may have been using it to make pieces for ships in Papenburg, and then towing them up on barges for assembly. Parts of the Dream were done this way, and the first block of the Fantasy was also. I think the radar masts are imported also.

If not theyll have to drain the dock, remove the gate, and then reflood the dock, move her, then drain the dock again. The Celebrity Reflection should take her place infront of the Fantasy.

Found a new FAntasy thread. Thanks to all of you who help me learn more about shipbuilding!!

Hoping they were/are doing some redesign on the two pools on the back half! Noticed on the web site the Fantasy page had a picture of the Quiet Cove pool (from the Dream) but no photos of the two family pools. Is this just wishful thinking on my part? :confused3

Supposedly there were some minor changes to the Fantasy, but nothing solid as to what they did/are doing(other then the new shows, and the differences in the rest etc that has been publicized.) Someone mentioned some changes to the pool area, but that came from a crew member if I remeber correctly, and we know how often they are right. After reading a piece on the CD of the Dream, there were some unexpected surprises when the Dream debuted as far as traffic flow so I wouldnt be surprised if the pool areas got a change.

Also, regarding the DCL public pictures, they have often used pictures from 1 ship for both ships. For whatever reason DCL is real slow in putting up pictures of the Dream and adding info to the DCL site about her, such as the quick service food names, the names of the gift shops, things like that.

The same web cam picture has been up for just about two weeks now, so no update pictures yet. I believe the panorama pictures are from when the dream was being built.
