Disney Ends Evening EMH Monorail Service

I don't think it was called an E ticket but before EMH for free, they had a ticket that you could buy for like $10 for 3 hrs after park closed and it was limited number sold for WDW resort guests only. It was only at MK . We did that and it was nice and not crowded but as for EMH now...most times it is way to crowded especially MK and DHS , when there last month they were even giving out fast passes on some rides... everyone there seems to head to SM at MK and to RNR or TSM at DHS.

Yes....there was a limited amount sold---like 5,000. Never seemed crowded. Loved those days !

to me too. We love the evening EMH's especially since my kids have gotten older.

I view it as just another cutback also. :sad2:

The trick with MK evening EMH is to stay and wait it out past that last fireworks show (11 pm ?). Then it REALLY quiets down. Having teens and college age kids---these have been the best nights for us ! It's like a ghost town around 12:30- 1 am and we literally feel like we have the park to ourselves.

Did that last month place still hopping at 3AM , you are right teenagers and college kids who like SM and they were giving out fast passes...there were 2 parades and fireworks.. at 12:30 there was even a wait on the Jungle Cruise!!!!(grandson wanted to do that) but I will say not too much wait on Splash Mountain that late(and it was still hot) was well in the 90's all week long.

:thumbsup2we miss them, so cool to be able to have MK almost all to yourself @ night. I thought they were one time use though, if not i can kick myself belatedly lol.

IMO onsite EMH & ME are justifications used for the ever-increasing annual % incrase of rack rates, which apparantly more than cover the cost of the 'percs':(.

I don't know why others bought into BLT, but we bought for proximity to MK and transportation, including Monorail system. We usually walk over to MK, but I find it a bummer that the monorail is being limited. I do think it decreases the value of owning at BLT. I also think it doesn't make it as attractive to stay at Poly or GF either. Why pay more for these resorts if they will have bus transportation like other resorts that cost less. Bus transportation at Disney is very hit or miss.
I also like the idea of being able to travel to all monorail resorts for dinner or drinks in the evening, but I guess that will change also.

If we are at all concerned, I think we should contact Guest Relations/Communications and let them know how we feel. I can't hurt.

This will significantly decrease the appeal of BLT for our family.

1) For us the main perk of staying onsite is EMH.
2) The main perk (for us) of staying at BLT specifically would be the monorail.

If we can't use perk #2 when we want to use perk #1 why bother staying at BLT?

On the positive side, my planning just got easier. I no longer have to try to get into BLT at the 7 month window. :lmao:

After thinking about this more, it doesn't really affect us even though we own at BLT. For the next at least 10 years, we'll primarily be staying at BLT (occasionally AKV) and we rarely go to evening EMHs anyways (maybe once in a 10 day trip). And its almost always a MK EMH if we do so we can just walk back to BLT. We rarely stay that late at Epcot even now without children and all our future trips we'll have have children so we definitely won't be staying that late. Plus even if the monorail isn't operating during the special event parties, we can still just walk back to BLT.

I'd be a lot more worked up over this if I could even remember the last time I could stay awake late enough for nightime EMH:earsboy:

Don't know that we'd ever stay at BLT but if I owned there I would be upset. Being on the Monorail line is one of their big selling points. Hopefully enough owners will complain and they'll reverse this decision.

Honestly I am just not understanding the hue and cry over this, it is two nights out of the entire week. :confused3

Especially with BLT, you can be in your room by walking back over waiting in line to get on an over crowded monorail.

It's also EPCOT. The walk from the EPCOT exit to the bus stop can be very, very long. (I doubt they would give a prime spot for EMH only)

Ok point taken, I guess Epcot would be a hassle. I guess those staying at MK resorts will either be bussing it or leaving within one hour of regular park closing.

I can see the impact on BLT is marginal. You can walk back. My first thought is for handicapped guests....but there are fewer of these special guests than guests capable of walking.

Looking forward......how will this impact your choice of DVC at the Grand Floridian? You cannot walk from the MK to the Grand Flo. You CAN take the smaller shuttle boats but what if it is a busy night. It's beginning to smell a little like leftover fish now......yea...and the monorail cars too!!

DH and I generally default to the Beach Club or Boardwalk and we rent cars so we can travel to and fro far faster than the bus system - AND we avoid scooter conflict on busses (I'm in a scooter). This WILL factor into our decision for BLT or DVC Grand Flo. We enjoy the late-late nights of EMH.

We usually have a rental car, so Epcot is no big deal. MK however.....does this mean there will be no TTC monorail either? Will a boat ride to the TTC be the only option, or will their be busses for that too?

Not only is it affecting travel to/from MK but also getting to resorts on the monorail loop. If all the monorails close down every night 1 hour after regular park closings then it won't be as convenient to travel the loop for dining or shopping. Also, with so many party nights for halloween and christmas that's a lot more nights with monorails stopping at 8pm. And during certain times of the year Disney closes parks early (7 or 8PM) but something nice to do was a late dinner, drinks or entertainment at another resort.

Maybe this will mean that people staying at MK resorts will actually be able to eat at their hotel without having to book an ADR 6 months in advance, because that is a frequent complaint. I know DISers are planners but many are not.

I guess those that want to end the evening at another hotel will have to factor in the cost of a taxi.

Good question. That would kinda stink if there is boat service only to the TTC late at night. What if bad weather rolls in? Then there would be no service at all to the TTC.

Something interesting, if a severe storm hits the road under the bridge near the Contemporary can get flooded.
Buses have had to wait it out.
A bad storm means the boats will not be running.

For CR/BLT guests who go to Epcot, if that area is flooded, I hope Disney is planning an alternate route to get people back to their lodging.

For all non CR/BLT guests who go to MK, if that area is flooded, if Disney hasn't planned an alternate bus route, guests will be stuck at MK.

Is there a road that loops around MK and comes out near GF? Or would Disney maybe consider building a road along the lake from MK to the GF?

There goes part of the sales pitch for DVC GF.

Thinking that as well-makes BLT much more appealing, we always walk back to BLT after EMH MK anyway. Since we always split stays with BCV-EPCOT is not a concern.

I am not sure whether this has much of an impact on BLT. Monorail will run until one hour after park closing. From MK it is faster to walk to BLT than to wait in line and take monorail. At Epcot, the extra magic hours start at 7 and end at 10 which means you can still catch the monorail.
