Thanks for dancing with me!

The January trip is going to be so different for me.... no hubby and no kiddos. I'll be joining KathyRN, DisMomAmy, mousescrapper and irish dancer (and maybe a fifth -- hope she can come!), all fellow moms with children on the autism spectrum. It promises to be a fun filled extended weekend at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, courtesy of Kathy's wonderful generosity. :goodvibes

Hope to see you there!

Hi everyone! A few things to mention before I detail our day 4 plans. Last Tuesday was our 101 days out first movie night. Alex had the honor of choosing the first movie and he selected….

2010_0824pics0002.jpg

It’s a family favorite, especially the Genie. Robin Williams is just hysterical in this role! :lmao: A Whole New World is my favorite song from this movie but I always find myself for days afterward singing to myself…. Prince Ali, fabulous he, Ali Ababwa! …. and I just love this tiny song:

Riff-raff, street rat. I don't buy that.
If only they'd look closer.

Would they see a poor boy?
No siree.
They'd find out there's so much more to me.

So for this first movie night all we did was take the lime green Mickey head off the first link. Demetri sat up tall on Alex’s shoulders and down it came…. countdown officially started!

Yesterday, I finally did a project I’d been meaning to get to for quite some time. Our Disney pins have been stored in a Tupperware container since first starting to collect them in 2006. I’ve always admired Lady Lallie’s way of displaying her pins and I decided to steal her idea. Taking a corkboard we use for school, therapy and hockey schedules, the kids and I created a border of pins. It’s proudly hanging in our kitchen now and we love it!

Tonight was our second movie night and because we’re both on vacation this week, George got to watch with us! :lovestruc It was Ariana’s night to choose the movie…. can you guess what she chose? Her absolute favorite movie of all time…..

2010_0824pics0045.jpg

She knows every single line of dialogue in this movie and can recite it all, word for word. Armed with popcorn, cheese puffs, chips and M&Ms we all had such fun saying our favorite parts aloud to one another, and when it was done, an entire segment of links came down along with another lime green Mickey head! Gotta tell ya, it doesn’t seem to take as long for the time to go by when you’re using the chain. Woot!

Ok, on to Day 4. Here again is how our park days have been so far.

Saturday, November 27th – Arrival Day
Sunday, November 28th – Park Day 1 - MK and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Monday, November 29th – Park Day 2 – DHS
Tuesday, November 30th – Park Day 3 – DHS

Once again I am looking forward to this day because we’ll have yet more new experiences. This day we’re off to…..

DAY FOUR
ANIMAL KINGDOM
Wednesday, December 1st
Park Hours: 9am to 8pm (EMH)

To get our morning started, we have a 10:20am reservation for Donald’s Safari Breakfast at Tusker House!

Again, a bit adventurous for our tummies but looking at the menu, there is plenty there for us to choose from. From pictures, I love the look of the restaurant and how it’s set up to be a marketplace where you can go from area to area as if you were browsing and shopping. I must remember to hand off my camera to a CM when we first arrive and get our picture taken with Donald. We don’t usually spend the extra $30 bucks or whatever it is for the package.

After breakfast, this day is all about slowing down and taking our time through Animal Kingdom. We’ve only ever explored this park in the blazing heat and I’ve yet to see animals actually doing anything other than sleeping so I’m anxious to see the difference in Kilimanjaro Safaris.

My main objectives are to explore the Tree of Life carvings walking through the Discovery Island Trails….

Seeing Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo….

Expedition Everest…..

(Demetri will be tall enough this year – he is sooooo excited!!)

Exploring Camp Minnie-Mickey and finding Devine!

Things we’ll decide to see when we get there are Flights of Wonder and Dinosaur. We haven’t been to Flights of Wonder before and I’d like to see it, but Ariana can be a little jumpy and I’m afraid she might scream at a few inopportune moments. If she’s in a good mood we might give it a try. Demetri is tall enough for Dinosaur but I’m not sure it’s not too scary for him. He’s a little daredevil and game for any thrill ride, but thrilling is different than scary and I’m not convinced the Dinosaurs won’t freak him out. We’ll see!

Late lunch will probably be at Restaurantosaurus. Last year we did Pizzafari and while the kids and I really liked it, George is not a fan of pizza so we’ll let him have his burgers this day. ;)

Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade is scheduled for 3:45pm. I wondered where the best place to view the parade would be and found these incredible maps from someone I’d heard referenced on the DISboards before…. Robo. The recommended spot is outside the Dawa bar. :thumbsup2

Amazing!

This is an extra magic hours day for AK so we’ll definitely be riding EE after dark and I’ll be looking for some night shots like this one…..

P1000474.jpg

Not to mention all the Christmas decorations to check out everywhere and Santa Goofy’s Wild Wonderland. I think Santa Goofy might only be first thing in the morning ….?

PhotoPass Locations:
1. Main Entrance
2. Tree of Life
3. Expedition Everest
4. Camp Minnie-Mickey
5. Character Boat Landing (anyone know if this is Pooh and friends?)
6. Africa (as you’re leaving Asia, seems to be around Tusker House)

This is definitely where we’ll be asking to cradle Baby Simba in the pictures. :lovestruc

The day at AK ends at 8pm and I don’t have anything scheduled for the rest of the night. We just might head back to the resort for an early night, perhaps a night swim if the weather is nice. Or maybe visit another resort to see decorations…. for now, it’s wide open.

So, what do you think?

Love the movie night photos :) Great choices too :thumbsup2

Day 4 sounds great and EMH in the dark is awesome, love the EE pic :)
