Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Nathan placed first in car design at his Pinewood Derby today with his Dream car. He got lots of great comments. He also placed 2nd in boat design (not Disney related) and 3rd in speed for the Rain Gutter Regatta.

Now he is on to Districts!

Wow! Congratulations Nathan!

Anyone doing this?
It might motivate me...I like to joke I only run when I'm being chased; but this might be fun.
DD (10) is also interested.
The weather in DFW is mild now so it's perfect training weather.

I would love to join in! :yay: I also have a DD (10) maybe she would be interested in the run too! She is hanging out with her cousins right now so I'll have to ask her when she gets home!

I guess we'll stick with our 11b gty but one of you may be interested...

Wow, that price is high!! I'll stick to my 5E (Extended Verandah)!!!
Just for the fun of it, I clicked "continue" as if to be choosing this cruise to see if it would let me choose a particular Stateroom, but then it gave me this message:

"The availability of your selection has recently changed. We are sorry your choice is no longer available. Please change your selection or click the Back button and then try again."

It that is the case, then why even show our cruise is available at all?:confused3

Although I haven't actually started packing yet, I have been going over sample packing lists to see if there is anything that I still need to buy. I have only come across a few minor things: need an extra SD card for my camera; Bonine; maybe Seabands (never tried them but might this time). Still need to check my clothes (make sure they still fit), but I think DD and I are okay with the summer clothes we have.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!!

Bonine is what I use too, Tammy. I learned though that it's better taken at nighttime where the sleepy effects will be during your sleeping period anyway.
One cruise I took it every morning and by early evening I was ready for bed!
I didn't figure out why till later.

I tried the Seabands on my last cruise. I was severely sea sick (as were many passengers.... rough cruise!) and bought the seabands in addition to taking Bonine and drinking ginger ale and eating apples with salt (a crew member told us this idea)...... everyone was still slightly sick despite all these remedies, but I kept wearing the bands because I was afraid that if I took them off perhaps I'd feel worse!

So I can't tell you for sure if they really work or not.

Would love to be able to do something like that but the mind says yes and the body says no. Might see if I can interest my granddaughter in it though. She lettered in both Soccer and Swim her first year in high school so it might be a go. Looking forward and counting the days till Cruise time. Going to have four generations with us so it should be a fun trip. I'm new to posting but have been reading since we booked in Nov. of 2009 onboard the Magic.

Welcome!

How about telling us more about yourself?
I'm Rose from NY traveling with my boyfriend Bob and my son Sean who will be almost 21.

This will be my 5th Disney cruise:cool1:

That must have been my problem on my first Disney cruise. I think I was taking the Bonine in the morning, and I was usually ready for bed kind of early. I even missed the Fireworks!!!! I don't want that to happen again, so I'll try taking it at night. Don't know why I didn't realize that before! I think I'll bring the seabands as an extra remedy if needed.

I'd like to know more about our fellow cruisers.
Some of you have only posted your screen name, I'd like to know a real name so I'm not calling you by your screen name if I see you onboard.

Any other info would be cool too, that's how I've formed some great friendships on these threads.

Also, perhaps we could all start posting photos again, of ourselves so we can recognize each other and also maybe some favorite Disney shots:goodvibes

Then next we should discuss a meet up plan. I'd guess it would have to be either first day right after the lifeboat drill and just before the sail away party
(that's when we've done them before) or else it would have to be Day 4, I'd guess because it's an at sea day. Too far out.

I think the first day before the sail away would be good:goodvibes

I agree, Rose. It would be better to meet the first day right after the lifeboat drill. I guess we also need to decide where. Any suggestions from anyone?

I'll go through my pictures and try to find something more recent than I posted previously.

We've done it before by one of the pools so that the kids could be swimming and playing while the adults are getting to know each other.

By the pools sounds good to me. Especially on the Dream, since both the Mickey and the Donald pools are right next to each other so no matter what age children, the adults will be close by both pools. What does everyone else think?

We are DVC club members since 94. This will be our 6th Disney cruise We have done 4,3,4 (Member cruise), 11 day and a 7 day. The 7 day was on the magic rest were on Wonder. We celebrated our 40th anniversary on the 7 day and my daughter asked a few dis-board followers to help her help us celebrate and man the out pouring of love was unbelievable. We found a fish extender and magnets on our door and it just kept growing. Can't wait to join the fun myself this time.
We are traveling with our Daughter, her husband both return cruisers and their two daughters 15 & 13 (new cruisers), and M-I-L and F-I-L. They have both also cruised once. We are grandparents of 8 and parents of 3. We all live in Fort Wayne In. Counting the days till we meet up on the Dream.

Hey guys,,, I have been talking to Marci. Both of us are interested in seeing other rooms on the ship. However,,,, we don't have access to these other rooms.
In the past, we (the disboarders) decided on a sequential room tour. I call it "a progressive disser" :) Marci and I would be interested in letting other people see our rooms in exchange for viewing their rooms. Is anybody interested? I think Marci is in a cat R and I have a cat V room, both on deck twelve. In our case, I suspect that we might have to take people to see in smaller groups at a time to avoid creating a stir. Rooms that are on the other decks except deck 11 could be done sequentially from one to the next with all of us in a big line. Anyway, that is what we did on the Magic for the first Panama canal cruise. I had a midship cat 3 for that one. It was really neat seeing all of the rooms and made you realize that any one of them was great. Getting on the ship is the important part.
One problem,, Marci is preoccupied and Angela and I are both full time doctors. I don't ususally find time to actually keep up on the boards.
SO,,,Is someone interested in, maybe,,, pretty please,,, keeping a list of the names of the people interested and the room numbers that we can have in the tour. With this being a new ship,,, I REALLY am interested in seeing these other rooms. I humbly await your replies.
Sincerely,
Bill aka 3DAN

Rose -- You asked for pictures, so here you go.

These are actually from 2007, but that was the last time my parents came to Disney with us. Since they are cruising with us I wanted to post pics that included all seven of us. I think all of the adults look about the same, but the boys have definitely grown up. I will post more recent ones later.

Seven Dwarfs on Main Street: My son Justin actually assigned each of us a dwarf based on our personalities. (He gave himself Grumpy and me Dopey -- so surely there wasn't too much type-casting.)

Doc (my dad, Dale), Grumpy (Justin), Happy (Aaron), Sleepy (DH, Mike), Sneezy (Brandon), Bashful (my mom, Janet), and Dopey (me, Holly)

The Incredibles at Ohana: Please excuse DS Aaron's table manners with the "see food"

I know you can't see their faces, but I just had to throw this one in. It is one of my favorites from our trip that year. That is my Dad with all three boys, hand-in-hand. Looking at this really reminds me of how much the boys have grown in the four years since this was taken.
