Disney Dream come True 8/28/2011

I hear you about the transportation issue... That is basically what we will be doing only from and to POP. I figure the boat ride will be just another experience. We will be on quick service dining, so we will probably do the make your own pasta at POR. I have heard good things:goodvibes Then on the way back if Goofy's is still open we will use up any remaining snack credits (assuming I will have any remaining! :lmao:)

Oh, I love Goofy's!!!

Hi Stephanie

Yeehaw Bob is a piano performer at Port Orleans Riverside. One of our cruise mates suggested catching a performance on the evening of the 27th. Because I will be in Disney that evening, and because I wanted to see this performer anyway, I just wanted to express my willingness to meet with other cruisers there. There is no charge for the performance, although it does take place in a lounge, so it would be only natural to order some form of refreshment.

You were also asking about the FE. I suggest searching for a thread on the boards called Fish Extenders 101. It will answer all of your questions.

Hi Debbie,

I think meeting at Port Orleans Riverside is a great idea. What time were you thinking of meeting? We have ressies at Teppan Edo at 5:00, so we can come after we are finished. We will be in Disney on Aug 19 and after the cruise for 4 days.

Elaine

Hi again! I will defer this question to Silmarg, as they have been before and were the first to suggest this idea.

Yehaa Bob does two sets per night. According to his website (http://www.yehaabob.com/Update_and_schedule.html) his first set starts at 8:30 and his second set ends at midnight. I am not sure when his break is.

In theory his second act is more adult oriented then the first, but this is Disney and I have saw both sets with my young daughter (may have been 8 at the time)... and I don't recall feeling it was in appropriate for her.

Getting a seat at the River Roost Lounge is not easy. We stumbled upon Bob on the was back from the parks and we stood for most of the show.

I don't think they will let you save a block of seats nor are reservations accepted.

So if we are gonna do this its best to meet at 8...

(FULL DISCLOSURE - I have not purchased airfare yet. I am flying in on the 27th... and I want to fly in early in the afternoon... but I cant guarantee I will be there by 8 until I have bought airfare.)

how about suggestions from our experienced cruisers what is a good way to get together ??

believe it or not, attached below was the Disboards meets from our Panama Canal cruise (granted we had probably 200 cabins covered from these boards... had like 125 cabins participate in the FE... and had well over 100,000 posts and 33 threads on the DIS... it was because of us that Disboard rules were instituted re: number of posts in a thread)

Here is a list of activities I have so far. Please note that I did not inlcude things that will be in the regular DCL Navigator such as Mickey Mouse Club Night, Catholic Mass, etc. To keep this post from being 8 pages long, I'm only listing the day, time and title here - more details will be in the navigator. If you are a Leader, you have the details in a PM.

Travel Scale Share (cabins listed)

All the above said, I only attened a small fraction of these... The MickeyBar eating contest was great fun. We also did a group photo... we needed to coordinate w the ships staff to find a proper time/location for the photo given the group's size. They even got a ships photographer to come... so the photo was availabile to purchase at Shutters.

Personally, many of the above meets were poorly attended (as there were too many). Some of the unique meets (like the Mickey Bar eating contest, the scavenger hunt and Rugby) were very successful.

Given this groups size, I would suggest some sort of meet immediately before or after the sail away party. Then another meet / photo opportunity on the sea day... just my 2 cents.

I agree! What time is sail away? And then for the people in main dining, that is what, 6pm?
I would love a group photo :)
Sea Day would be good, the only thing we have planned is the spa and Palo and hopefully the aquaduck/pool.

i figured i start a list of who is joining us on this trip , if i forget someone by accident please do not take it too heart and send me a PM and i will add you .

Sooo me being the obsessive person I am I was checking to see if our cruise was booked. There are still staterooms available in 9B, 5E, 5A, 4D, 4C, V & T.

5B, 5C, 5D, 4B & 4A can all be booked as GTY. I used 1 adult & 1 child to do it. I'm trying to figure out when I'll get my cabin assignment :rotfl::rotfl2:I'm insane. I know. I don't think I'll ever book a GTY again.

I know i ask this ?? many many posts ago and i'm sorry :sad1: this might not be for all but would anyone around the NY area would like to have a Pre-cruise meet ?
I thought it would be nice to get to know even a few people and there family before the cruise ?
and again i'm sorry wish we can all do this .

We will be in NYC area from July 22 - August 2 (I will actually be with older daughter (17) too!) So far I have booked: Yankee Game July 24th early game, and Statue of Liberty on the 27th, 9 am. Also, we are planning on going to Coney Island on the afternoon of that following Friday. Other things on our list of things to do are shopping (teenagers:rolleyes:) Met Museum, Museum of Nat. History, Central Park and (for me) Disney Store!!! At some point we will go to TOTR, but that is all I have on the agenda for now as we will be staying in Staten Island (Tottenville, no less... about as far away from Manhattan as one can get)
