DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

My step dad has you all beat- he's going to be 83 in February and he's sailing with us. He and my mom (who's 66) will be joining my family of 4 as well as my mother in law, DH's cousin, and her 5 yr. old son. My MIL is in her late 60's as well. None of them are on the roll call because they are not DISers.... First cruise for the inlaw side- 4th for my mom and step dad.

You're making your FE??? :lmao: I'm BUYING one on ebay!!! (I actually made ours last time but lord knows where that is and I'm too busy to worry about it so I'm just paying for one!!!!!

Now... 18 Fridays / many carrot sticks and cottage cheese should = 15lbs gone by cruise time? In my DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (although I AM trying - I just keep putting off starting until tomorrow! :sad2:

Hi TiffJ Thanks for the compliment but I'm 55 not 65 ha ha.. My daughter did remind me just now that Randy will actually be 56 when we sail, ha ha. Glad to know we aren't the only ones in the 50's. ha Maybe that is one of the reasons we like Disney too, we can act like kids and that is normal there. ha :banana:yea!!

Wow 83!!! good for him!! I must meet him and your mom. My new saying lately has been, I'm not old, I've just had a lot of birthdays....... That sounds much better, ha ha

LOL!! I like to say I'm not old, I'm 29 with 30 years of experience!

Kathy- sorry I misread, but I would have guessed in the 40's :goodvibes

Denise- I'm not all that crafty so I'm sure it will be something like a shoe organizer that I decorate/modify. I did get started on my FE gifts yesterday & I'm very excited about them.

I've also got to start figuring out our pirate nite costumes. DS10 wants a regular costume, DS13 said he will wear shorts & a pirate tshirt & maybe a patch..... teenagers :confused3

Do a lot of people dress up for pirate night? I don't think DH would be too excited to dress up, but I know my boys would love it!

kimistry6- alot do dress up & alot don't. You see everything from full on pirate garb (think REALLY expensive costume) to just a tshirt. The characters are dressed up for it & Jack Sparrow is around so I love having the themed family photos. You could just get DH a pirate tshirt & you & the kiddos dress up. I love dressing up so any excuse for me to do it is great! It's my favorite night!!! And the fireworks are amazing. This year will be cool since I've read they have re-vamped pirate night so it will be different from what I've seen in the past.

p.s. Where in TN are you? I'm in Huntsville which is about 1 1/2 hrs south of Nashville.

Can anyone give me advice:

We are coming from Colorado and thought instead of the extra expense of coming in the night before we would book a flight into orlando on the day of the cruise. The earliest we will get in is 1:10pm. Are we cutting it to close? What should I do. Help:confused3:confused3:confused3

That is really cutting it close. You would have to hope there are no delays in your flight or baggage return. It's a little less than an hour from the airport to the port. Not sure when the boarding time ends. How were you planning on getting to the ship?

We never travel the day of a cruise, I worry too much about delays, weather, etc... Unfortunately we have no control over these things, but I always feel better knowing I have a few options. We always try and get the first flight in the morning the day before. This way if there are delays or cancellations there are other flight options.

I sent you a private message.

TiifJ- We are in east tennessee about 20 minutes from Knoxville. I think I will start looking for some pirate type shirts for us to wear. My DH will definitely do that.

that is def. cutting it close! We always come in the day before just to be safe...we always always seem to have flight delays, so we have been driving in a day early as of late. They are sticklers about boarding time, and everyone has to be on one hour before the ship can leave. good luck deciding!

A lot of people do dress up in various "styles". I have worn a pirate costume on 1 and on several have put together my own type of costume and then have done the pirate tshirt/ shorts and so has DH.
Do whatever you feel like - and yes the familty pirate pics w/ Capt. Jack as always good!:thumbsup2

glad to hear someone mentioned the pirate party has been revamped too!:goodvibes

Family picture with Capt. Jack??? Last time I kicked my family out of the picture so I could have him ALL TO MYSELF!!!!!!!! :lmao::lmao:

OK folks- it's 5 below zero in most of MA right now.... I have on 2 sweatshirts, sweat pants, socks, slippers and the heat on and I'm still FREEZING!

Last time for Pirate night we all wore matching disney outfits- they were a blue print with Mickey surfing all over them. Seriously- it was me and DD in sundresses, and DH / DS in shirts- all made of the same material. We were "THAT" family. :rotfl: I'm not one who usually does that (usually I'm the one making fun of those that do!) but the outfits were so cute I just couldn't help myself!!!! Since we've all grown out of those outfits (even us adults, sad to say) I think I'm buying pirate T-shirts on Oriental Trading (they are like $14 each). I'm all about making it easy this cruise!!!!

Our adult son had some unfortunate news today; he was laid off his job. He is praying for a new job to be in the near future, but in the meantime we felt it necessary to cancel our family cruise. Should our son need some financial help our cruise $$$$'s will be what is used to help him get through these trying times.

Since we were booked in a concierge if we cancelled we'd forfeit a large deposit, so hubby and I are now booked on the Fantasy for June, 2012. I pray by this time our son will be back on his feet and we can take this cruise.

Also, our daughter and hubby will not be sailing so please remove our two staterooms (11000 for "OKrays Love Disney" and GTY 10A for "Holt") from the FE list.

We wish everyone smooth sailing on the Dream! :)

Oh Sue I'm so sorry but I think that you've made the right decision. If something turns around you can always rebook for an earlier cruise on the Dream. I'm sure you're son appreciates and values your willingness to forfeit your plans in the event he needs additional help. That is what we moms do!!!

Keep us updated on your Fantasy 2012 plans - maybe some of us will just have to join you!

Sorry to hear the news, but I agree, you made the right decision even though I am sure it was killing you. Glad to hear you were able to move your reservation to next year. best of luck and hope your son finds work quickly.

Sue, that is bad news. But look on the bright side-you now have new planning and anticipation!! That's half the fun :thumbsup2 I am definately planning on re-booking the Fantasy 2012 while on board.

In 4 weeks I get to go to WDW for a long 4 day weekend with the kiddos (DH can't come) It was originally for me & mom to do the Princess 1/2 marathon. HOwever, I have not been able to train so now we are going down to cheer nana on. I have done several of these events & they are a blast but I have always been in the races, this will be my first time as a spectator. Also it will be Seth's 10th bday while we are there. He thinks we are just going down for the race, hang out at the resort & DTD.....we are going to MK on his bday:banana: He won't know until we get up that a.m. & I get them on the bus. I can't wait!!!! But I have no doubt we will also find time to get to DTD for some shopping & Ghiradelli's brownie sundae :lovestruc

We will also be on this cruise! We booked while on the Wonder last year when it had it's double dip ;) We are getting so excited!! It'll be myself, my DH and DD11 and DD13 (almost 14). We've been reading some reviews coming in from those who are currently sailing on the Dream. I can't wait to see more pics! This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise.

It's snowing AGAIN!!!!!!! And again, this time, it seems to be going through Philly and up the East Coast. We will be getting some here (4-8" around Allentown) but it sounds like a few of you are going to get beat up again.

Wish it was May 29. When I wrote the date for the end of this week on my timesheet, since I finish my work week on Saturday, the date is January 29. On Saturday it will be only 4 more months until the cruise.:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
