We thought it would be flavored ice cream as well, biggest disappointment ever (okay, well that might be an exaggeration but we were disappointed).

I am use to traveling for business, I am one of a few people who do what I do so traveling comes with it. It always seems I am gone for extended periods right before a cruise. Prior to our Dec cruise, I was away doing Hurricane Sandy work and was working 24/7, which killed my FE gifts of handmade passport holders- I thought DH was gonna have to learn to sew! Lucky for me, his mom bailed me out and sewed 200+ passport holders over Thanksgiving. Lessoned learned, don't do hard FE gifts and do them in advance, you never know when you will be sent away!

takes a special person to be a road warrior for work:thumbsup2. Have a feeling you're one of those people who can pack for a week in a carryon;)

200 FE gifts:faint: ! Speaking of - how is our FE humming along? Can't remember if there was a deadline as to signing up for a final count or not.

I had a few ideas in mind but found out two things this week that are throwing a wrench into those plans & need to rethink things:

Experienced a failed gel manicure for cruise last January:(, got infected during the cruise and has not responded to treatment. Told this Monday I needed to schedule hand surgery ASAP to set things right. I went with the day after we get back from Disney trip in October, not sure how soon I'll be 'craftable' just happy to have ten fingers at this point:laughing:

Then found out I'm being drafted for full time babysitter for GD since the other Grandma (great grandma actually) is having her 2nd knee done the end of October and i'll need to pick up her two days a week. Maybe I can put GD to work;)

YIKES!!! Sending pixie dust for your hand surgery! That could be painful.

As to FE...funny I was just looking at the list last night. We have about 12 cabins right now. We had not set a date for closing, but I would think maybe the end of October? I don't know that we are going to get any more people interested. I will pose the question to y'all. When do you WANT to close FE?

That said, this is my first time running the FE, but every time before when the group closed, someone would come along and want to join, then someone else, and then someone else. I am doing FE gifts for three cabins! :faint: I will definitely need a count. Mine are going to be a little handcraft, a little not, but counts are going to be key.

Thanks:) i'm hoping to be heavily medicated lol

i'm good with whatever the FE leader or group decides:thumbsup2.

laughing - Hadn't thought of doing the items for son/DIL, hmmm something else to think about but then i'd have to make them a FE too but not sure it's wanted, they really didn't get the whole concept when I tried to explain it. Once they have a cruise under their belts they'll fall in line with the rest of us.;)

I can pack for a week and fit all my PPE in there. I am sure my traveling will lessen once we decided to settle down a bit and start a family.

Sorry to hear that you need surgery, I will send some healing thoughts your way. Hands and fingers can be very painful, when I first started at my job, my boss accidently dropped a manhole cover on my hands and broke all of my fingers and I lost all of my fingernails (which never grew back in right). It is so hard not to move them, even when you aren't trying to, it just happens.

Hopefully your GD will be able to help you and enjoy your time with her. Kids make great workers! They primed the basement walls, installed the hardware in the basement bathroom and primed all of the new doors. We tell them they gonna earn their keep! And yet, they still keep visiting!

I say we close it a week after the PIF date, I know my travelling party might change up until that point. Thanks for organzing!

And we are PIF!

And while paying off this cruise, I booked the 2 night on the Magic in October! I just couldn't wait for this one!

woohoo for yet another cruise!

I feel faint thinking of how a manhole cover felt dropping on digits!

somehow seeing the above pic reminds me of Tom Sawyer and the fence:)

I caved and added TI to the cruise late last night, just kept thinking 'what if?'. Most of my friends don't cruise often and never add it, but I've had to use medical services twice & have elderly mother. Not to be nosey;)but a question especially for the frequent cruisers:

Do you buy TI for each cruise or an annual policy?

I can tell you it wasn't a pleasant feeling! But I was just so relieved that when I took off my gloves my fingers were still attached, I honestly didn't think they would be, that I didn't really feel the pain until my adrenaline wore off and then I passed out in the ER waiting room!

I have never bought TI but I am sure one day it will make sense too. I know my grandmother who cruised often, bought it for each cruise, it was not a annual thing.

Re Cabanas: I was told they currently were all spoken for today when chatting with the rep after I asked what my date was to call in for excursions. She did suggest if I were still interested to try again after the concierge cancellation periods begins...said they see cancellations crop up but especially for January cruises, probably because of holiday bills, etc.

I just logged in this morning and there are still a couple of cabanas available.

First time I have ever seen a cabana (first time as gold though) and there are three left! We don't need one but I was shocked to see them there.

OK, peeps we are Double Digit Dancing!!!!:banana:

Time to get some plans in motion with the FE. we have 12 cabins participating so far. Currently I have the following people signed up.

VA-NanaTink - 3 cabins
TinkerbellinNY6- 1 cabin
WVURunner - 3 cabins
Tinabeana2 - 1 cabin
Beginningthemagic - 1 cabin
Keishashadow - 1 cabin
Enchanted23 - 2 cabins

WE should set some sort of deadline, I know I will need some time and we also have to take into account that we are going to be going into the holiday period. I know some of our things are handcrafted and will take a bit of time.
So, I have two possible ideas for dates and we can discuss how you feel. Our cruise group is not very big and I'm wondering how busy our cruise is going to be, we may have a pretty empty ship to play around in! :cool1:

So, I was originally thinking the Friday after Thanksgiving deadline as that is 45 days out from our cruise. If you'd like something earlier than that, by all means! I was also thinking a 20-25 cabin top, then split, but it doesn't look like that is going to be much of an issue!!!

Thoughts?

OK...decided to do the FE. Well, finally talked DH into it as we don't have any kiddos this time. It is just fun!!!! With or without kids. Please add us to the list...
Audrey and DH Doug
2 Adults
Cabin 7069

Looking forward to joining in all the fun.
Is there a meet scheduled yet?

Audrey

My 90 day booking window opened today. I was so supposed to see 3 cabanas available. I took one but there are still 2 available on the family beach as of right now if anyone is interested

We are in the process of confirming with our TA and are so very excited. Never dreamed I would be back on the Dream so soon after our 3 night cruise in Sept.

Our party consists of: DH, myself (turning 40 this year so what better way to start the year) and DD age 12.

Keeping it a secret until Christmas will be difficult if not impossible for me to do.
