Disney Divas Getaway!!

Congratulations! :cheer2:
(what kind of nursing? )

As a RN now I have a wider opportunity, but am staying in the home care area at the moment, maybe some hospital or preferably wound care. I hope to be back in school in 5 years for my BSN (if I decide to continue, which is most likely) I have some other classes to get out of the way before I can do that (pre-reqs)

Great! :woohoo:
Thats the thing about teaching...taking all the continuing education classes can be a drag...:headache:

So glad you all had such a great time, and such an amazing dream at Epcot! I looked everywhere for you, and almost stopped a couple of people wearing Diva t-shirts, but once I saw they were with kids and men (and sober-jk) I knew they couldn't be you all.

You asked me on the Glow thread about TX, but I'll reply here because that thread is a ghost town right now (I suspect everyone is working on their TR's and recovering from post Disney depression). We had a terrific time in Austin and its suburbs, and I think we would really enjoy living there. Everyone had warned us about the heat and humidity, but the funny thing was, after 2 weeks in WDW, it seemed almost chilly, not to mention dry. I had the best drink I think I've ever had in my life at Chuy's restaurant. It was a margarita, and it was made with chili-infused tequila, so it was hot and spicy. It was called something like the new Mexican margarita, so if you ever get to the Chuy's in San Antonio, it's worth a try. I swear I'd move across the country for that drink alone, lol!

Unfortunately, dh is not currently on the list of employees to be transferred to TX, so it doesn't look like we'll be moving, at least not in the near future. But Austin is for sure on our short list of places we'd be willing to relocate to, if the opportunity arose.

And if I haven't said it yet, I'm so jealous about you going to the F&WF next year. The 1st week in October is the week I really wanted, mainly for that reason, but because we come so far we always stay for 2 weeks, and I couldn't quite justify taking the kids out of school for that long again. At least not right now--give me one or two more of those spicy margaritas and I'm liable to change my mind!

We LOVE Chuy's!!! :lovestruc
Never had that particular margarita before but will defiantly give it a try based on your recommendation! :thumbsup2

Then take advantage of your current location and book that Alaskan cruise and hit Beechers for mac & cheese!

Kristin, you might not have lived in San Antonio when I was last there but I am still sorry I did not run into you there. My bil took us to some fancy steak house, think it had San Francisco in the name. They had a girl in a swing that kicked a cow bell on each swing. The waitresses were so old that they just appeared to have net stockings on, with runs and sags and bags. The food was alright but nowhere near worth the huge cost. I remember the cost well as I picked up the tab.:scared1: By the way it is called a Sporron and not a codpiece in a Scottish outfit.

Sha, congratulations! There is much need for more folks like you.

Timmie is an unique person in that she is interested in all things and wants to experience everything! I love it!!

No December trip for me. Probably for the best. I am predicting extremely great deals on Disney next year, for those of us who have any money left.

Know the place well...called Old San Francisco...DH Christmas parties were held here for years...never thought much of it...don't think its open anymore (BTW we moved to Texas in 2005):surfweb:

Diva K, you were but a child when I was last in San Antonio. Heck the gun smoke from the Alamo was still in the air. :lmao:

I had to laugh when we went to the steakhouse as my dh and dbil were both so excited by the thought of the waitresses in short skirts. I am not kidding when I say that the youngest one had to be 60 or better.

Have you been to all the tourist places? I find that folks seldom visit the place they live in. I have only been to one Indy 500 and no Kentucky Derby's.

::yes::
Oh yes...Alamo, Riverwalk, Fiesta Texas, LBJ's ranch, Sea World, Tower of the Americas, Natural Bridge Caverns/Living Treasures Animal Park, museums, zoo...we go on our own alot but also take family/friends when they come to visit...swear we've been to LBJ's ranch 4+ times...got to go back again since Lady Bird died because they have opened some rooms in their living quarters! In fact have to drag Diva Mary's girls there soon...maybe when mom & dad are @Disney and they are staying with us...Mary and co. have lived here 9 years and have never been to LBJ's ranch :sad2:

Diva K, I was a Presidential Scholar back in the day and once refused to shake hands with LBJ (Vietnam differences). Folks made fun of Lady Bird for her beautification program but when I see the wild flowers in bloom they make me smile. I figure they save a lot in highway maintenance also. When I am lost I miss the signs though. :)

I love to explore odd corners of the world. It was always my dream to go to Europe for at least six months, rent places here and there, long term, and see not only the top sites but get to learn how others live and such. I do so while reading instead. I get my copy of 'British Heritage" magazine and daydream for hours. I almost feel like I am there through the articles. I highly recommend it.

Politics aside, they were a cool couple...:cool2:

Packing my bag...I'm invited right???
Only thing that worries me is food...as long as they have bread, wine and tea I'll be OK!

Ahhh, yes but you 'knew' them in LBJ's older days. I knew him when he was a bit of a hound dog. I would give Lady Bird the credit there. History and old age has given me the idea that he meant well though. Most do.

Of course you are invited. Since I what I want to do is called 'self catering' we would be doing much of our own cooking or do a Steve Soares and drop by small shops and pick up a bit of something and have picnics with the locals. Your tastes in food are the same as mine. Tea, always HAVE to have tea.

I have an Eurorail pass book next to my bed and I often read a page to give me something to dream about. You can rent a place for a month and then take day trips around the area easily with the transport system there. When you run out of things to see you move on to another area. Moral of this story, do your dreams while you can!!

LOVE Rick Steves!!! Samantha Brown too!
A childhood friend of mine just went to Europe this summer and did The Sound of Music Tour! All I got was a postcard :rolleyes1

By the way it is called a Sporron and not a codpiece in a Scottish outfit.
SG
Whats the difference? Is one worn inside (under clothing) and the other worn outside...does it serve a purpose (protection I assume) or just decoration? :confused3
BTW Looking this up right now...

I am not sure which scares me more, my getting Rick Steve's name all messed up or you figuring out what the heck I meant. :rotfl:

One of the side effects of my sickness is that my brain cells are deteriorating, fast.

Good night, Linda Lou

Wheres Mickey's sporron?!?!?!
OffKilter.jpg

Diva K, the main difference between a sporran and a codpiece is that the sporran is also a storage container that holds items other than the 'family jewels'. The Scots are thrifty people and like to multitask to save money. :lmao:

Mickey does not need a sporron for the same reasons that Ken, GI Joe and other 'special' folk do not. NO!!! Not that reason but the fact that they are beloved and no one would want to harm any part of them, IF they had the part to begin with. :rotfl:  :dance3:

It does not do to chat with me early in the morning as my brain does not kick into gear until early afternoon.

Be sure to make the font smaller in your signature so we can see all your trips (very impressive BTW!)
