Disney discounted room only offer on UK-Expedia; ended 31 March.

just purchased hotel through the site. saved 65% Has anyone here purchased tickets to either Disneyworld or Universal Studios. It seems you could save money on this site as well

OMG! This seems almost too good to be true! We have always wanted to stay at the Wilderness Lodge but it was never in the budget. We could save 1400 USD over the rack rate! I'm scared to book it because it seems too good!

I'd be more cautious and definitely scour the terms and conditions on that--Disney does offer residents of other countries different ticket options than US residents. I don't think the hotel will be a problem, but the tickets could very well only be for British citizens.

65%, what a great saving, that's wonderful news.....

Regarding your Disney tickets question, Expedia's web site states......
Disney's Ultimate Tickets were created exclusively for guests visiting from the United Kingdom.

And to purchase Disney park tickets on Disney's United Kingdom web site you'll need a European address as there's no where to enter a US address.

So we've looked into this a little more this morning and here's our findings........

UK-Expedia also states
"exclusively created for the UK guests and only available to pre-purchase before you leave the UK!" Present your voucher and government issued photo identification at any ticket window.

Unlike Disney, the UK-Expedia site does allow you to enter a US billing address during a Disney ticket purchase.

But if you check out www.mousesavers.com/walt-disney-world-tickets-for-uk-and-other-visitors/ it clearly states available only to international (non-US) visitors.......

Walt Disney World Tickets for UK and Other Visitors. LAST UPDATE: 1/26/14
The tickets below are available only to international (non-US) visitors who purchase in advance. Guests from the UK and other locations can buy various admissions that cannot be purchased in the US. There are even some discounts on Disney tickets available only to international visitors.
Those who live in the UK or Europe can purchase this ticket from Disney’s international site or from various UK ticket brokers.

We do know that US citizens have in the past used the UK-Disney’s Ultimate tickets but only because they were part of a family group staying with Brit's who had booked rooms and park tickets on the UK-Disney web site as a package.

One difference with purchasing tickets from UK-Expedia is that you will receive a voucher by email to print and take to a Disney ticket office; we can't state for all but the other UK-ticket selling companies that we know of all send real tickets through the post.

Up until this morning we would have said no, US-residents cannot purchase the UK-Ultimate park tickets, but there is clearly an option for US-residents to buy these tickets on Expedia therefore with so much contradicting information could that be a glitch/mistake?

As carriemd stated above 'be more cautious and definitely scour the terms and conditions on that', so we searched but couldn't find any such restriction but that doesn't mean there's not one.

Therefore we called customer support this morning and explained that our US-friends would like to buy the 21-day Ultimate ticket and we were told that's all okay there's no restriction they can see. She even walked us through the process and said for billing your friend would need to deselect UK and select USA but will be billed in sterling £.

We still can't believe it's actually an option and would think Disney would try and close this down especially if it turns out that thousands of US citizens are turning up with vouchers for park tickets that's promoted for sale only in the UK and European-countries.

Therefore the only way for you to be sure is to send an email to UK-Expedia's customer support, best of luck and please post Expedia's response.

PS. Still searching UK-Expedia and Google for an answer.

But is it too good to miss out on and if a cheaper/better US option comes along then there's the option of free cancellation. So it might be best to spend a little while reading through the previous post to get a full understanding and if you have any questions then please post.

We're unsure of the end date of Expedia's discounts, it could end on 3rd March when the current UK-Walt Disney room discounts end but it would be wise not to leave it too long just incase.

Hopefully a Wilderness Lodge vacation is now on the cards for your family, all the very best.

After 8 days, 2 emails and a post on the expedia uk FB site, I finally received my confirmation #!

I am all set for the end of May.

See you then.

Thanks OP!

Just booked 2 nights at the Beach Club garden view for early December. I called Capital One before I booked and it went through fine. I did have to call again after because they sent me a fraud warning e-mail even though I had just let them know I was doing it. Both calls only took about 2 minutes each though so no big deal.

I paid $487 total, on Disney's site the same room was $946 total so I saved $459!! Of course they will probably come out with FL resident rates by then but I am pretty sure they will never be as good a deal as this.

Thank you OP!!

I think I'm going to go for it! I doubt anything better will come along since this is 50% off and I have never seen Disney give a deal that good, especially over a holiday. DH told me to do it but I'm still a little nervous.

Happy it is working for so many people. I am going in August and was curious- their current August rates are higher or equal to rack rate for everything I've checked so far. I looked up a value room for 4, we stayed in the same room for $69/night a few years ago, their price was just over $190/night. Maybe that's how they subsidize the good deals...

Okay I am thinking I am booking a few room only here and save some DVC points. I am soooooo affraid.. but no cancellation fee.. pirate:

Are you afraid because it is an international site? I booked and was able to link it to MDE. I might get the worst garden view room at Beach Club since the price was so low, but I don't think there is anything wrong with my reservation. Expedia has been paid and they have confirmed with Disney, so I expect it would be the same as booking through Expedia here.

I always book directly with Disney, but my savings is about 40% compared to rack rate. I haven't seen 40% off deluxes in the summer for quite a while.

I get that some of you are nervous, but really, it's totally legitimate. I have a reservation linked on MDE, MB shipping tomorrow, and my ME documents have already arrived. There is really not much that could happen at this point IMHO. If I showed up at Pop and they said "you don't have a room," all it would take would be to show my MDE and my Expedia UK confirmation e-mail.

I think you definitely have to shop around. For our dates, the prices at CSR were very low (around $130/night) but POR and POFQ were much higher.

Oh, and just in case anyone is curious, I booked initially with Yacht Club and chose the US dollar option (which I probably shouldn't have since my card has no foreign transaction fee). I cancelled because we have snow days to make up, so I moved my reservation one day later (had to switch to Beach Club because Yacht Club had no garden view for the new dates). My refund was exactly the same amount as my initial charge - no currency fluctuation, and Expedia did not retain a fee for the currency exchange.

:thumbsup2 POR for our dates was much higher than CSR or CBR - not sure why. Some 1BR villas were less expensive than studios at the same resort. I think it is kind of like airline seats with prices being all over the place - it just depends where they have discounted rooms available.

Hi and it might be worth checking your August dates again as it could be that the UK web site had a short glitch and was showing non-discounted rates, also was it for 4-adults as there's a supplement for a 3rd-4th adult guest but not for children. Hope you find some better prices this time.

Where did you find the US Dollar option?

Just wanted to add, along with the reassurances of others, that once I linked my reservation with MDE, the reservation on WDW's site states "Balance Due: $0". I have 3 reservations for 2014 linked to MDE, 1 of them for DVC rented points, 1 booked directly with Disney, and this one, which is the only one to reflect a zero balance. I take that as a good sign :)
