I went to purchase the Tinkerbell/Disney light up castle house that was on sale for 29.99 less 20 yesterday. I totally forgot about it and never went back to complete the sale. Went back today, now 39.99 and not available. I called the number and questioned the $10 increase and she said oh that happens all the time. They raise and lower prices like a regular store. I wonder what store she was talking about???

Anystore that runs sales. They all raise and lower their prices

Nothing that odd about an online retailer doing it...

I've had similiar problems with Disney Direct. I ordered items and a day or two later they went on sale. I called and they stopped price adjusting on October 1 (I think) so I was out of luck. Two days after my order thel also offered free shipping over a certain amount (which I spent a lot more then). Since the order was already placed I was out of luck again. Needless to say, I was very

These things work themselves out in the wash -- odds are as often as you're on the short end of the stick, you're also on the long end of the stick: Think about how often you do buy things that are on sale.

Bicker-
You are right about that. And I know that I've probably gotten more deals then the amount of times I've been on the short end of the stick. It just gets to you a little when it does happen. Oh well, that's life.

The first sale was 30% off your order of holiday decor (with free shipping), so I had DH order my Xmas gift, which was the set of 4 holiday houses. That same night, the houses went on sale, but per DS.com, tough luck for me. If we'd have waited a few hours, he would've saved 60. Then, the houses went on sale (50% off), so dummy that I am, I ordered the same houses again, snowglobe, sculpted posters, ornaments (figuring I could send the first set of houses back at my expense). Of course, the next day, DS.com offers $20 off 100, $50 off 200. I called and called, and finally got the ear of someone who cancelled the second order for me (since it hadn't been shipped yet, but they had to manually pull my packing slip from the thousands they had waiting to be packed and shipped). I think it is bad for them to not offer price adj within a week's time (or at least before the order is shipped). To make customers have to cancel and reorder, refuse shipments, or order more than once and then return shipments is going to cost DS.com more in the long run. Unless the majority of people that order from the site don't care if an item goes on sale hours after they completed their transaction. Maybe I'm just neurotic... I'm the type that will continually check my airfare even after I've bought my tickets...........

I understand that prices go up and down when items go on sale. However, their clearance prices also seem to go down, then back up. For example, the costumes. After halloween they went to the outlet section on clearance for various prices. I purchased the Buzz costume for 14.99 and noticed 2 days later the price had gone up to 19.99 :confused3. A similar thing happened to a minnie mouse sweatshirt I had purchased.

I'm not angry, just confused. It's interesting though. Any thoughts on why they do this on clearance items.

Had to add:

Just checked the disney online site again and Buzz is up to 29.99 :rotfl: , so is cinderella, stich and ariel among others. This is the highest price I've seen on these since long before Halloween, and their supposed to be in the outlet?

The purpose of clearance isn't to empty shelves, but rather to empty shelves at the highest price possible. The sale price for an item is based on a forecast of what price is necessary to sell the item. The purchasing of the item by customers is very valuable information that helps improve the accuracy of the forecast. The updated forecast, then, would reflect a higher selling price.

What really drives me crazy is that they have one price in their catalog and a different price online. If you want the catalog price, you have to order via phone (even though it says you can order online), and if you want the online price, you have to order online. If it's the same store, why should the prices be different? I had this happen to me on my last order, but I didn't know their 'rules' then! :confused3

Catalog telephone orders require a human to interact with you, while online order do not.

They also won't allow you to use the coupon codes when ordering via phone. I had so many issues with trying to order via internet, so I called to place my order. I was told that I couldn't use the codes becuase they just changed their policy. I was finally able to get the website to work (and saved myself $50.00!)

I can't stand that they raise prices. I was looking at a snowglobe for a few weeks, but was waiting to get it. Wouldn't you know the day I go to buy it, the price had increased $10.00. I decided that I wasn't going to pay more for it, so I waited. Goody for me that they had a sale on snowglobes and I was able to use a coupon!
