Ok all, I have started to put together some shirts. I need to go to the store to get dark transfer paper, but I thought I'd share my first tye dye shirt. I didn't want one big Mickey Head on them because I have so many transfers that I want use so I decided to put several smaller mickey heads on them. This is the first one I tried. I'll do more tonight. I think of them as my 'hidden mickey shirts'. I plan to add the 3d water mickey design that I posted to the front.

Does anyone know how to get the background off of a clipart? I had an idea to use a big Mickey, put balloons in his hand and write names or info about the trip on the balloons. I even found Mickey head balloons but when I put them together, the background goes over Mickey. Can you tell I don't know what I'm doing?! Yeah, I knew you could. Any help?

What program are you using?

In Paint Shop Pro there is an eraser tool that gives you the opition to delete the background or foreground. I zoom in on the clipart fairly close so I can see the difference between the background and the character. Then I use the eraser tool to delete what areas I don't want. I do change views a lot as I'm doing this because if you don't erase all the background you will see some spots on your background. :confused3 I hope that didn't confuse you or anyone else besides me. :rotfl2:

PM me if you would like more detailed directions.

That is perfect Julia & Nicks Mom!! Wow you're quick too! You really have talent, you should consider doing more with it!!! My daughter is going to be really excited over that one!!

Thanks again and again!

These shirts are wonderful!

Anyone have an online source for ordering plain shirts? I am having a hard time finding matching colors for my family in the sizes we need. TIA!

www.Cheapestees.com has lots to choose from. I really like the Gildan Ultra Heavyweight 100% cotton ones. They are comfy and hold up really well. Plus the colors seem to be brighter on them then other shirts I've done iron ons or tie dye/painting on.

That is what we did. I did one large Mickey on the front center and then 2 or 3 other Mickey's on the shoulder/back or bottom at an angle. That way I was assured atleast one or two 'good' Mickey heads LOL

Luckily all but 1 turned out, so each shirt has enough Mickey's to at some point be recognized as a 'hidden' Mickey. I'll upload some pictures later of one of mine :)

Does anyone have any Mary Poppins clipart? I have looked on all the sites I have bookmarked, but I cant find any. I am doing shirts with each of our favorite characters and she is mine, but I cant find any clipart of her!! :guilty: Please help me!!

Per Julia & Nick's mom's suggestion... I started a new thread for my DISney T-shirt Design Challenge. I'm still a newbie and I'm learning, Thanks J&N!

I am still trying to read through all the posts but just wanted to ask if anyone has a shirt design for a child's first trip to Disney.

It is our darling daughters very first trip and i would love a design with something remarking it is her very first trip to disney.

Awhile back I think I saw Mickey dressed as a pirate, and he was standing on a treasure chest. Julia & Nick's Mom was that you???

If so, would I be able to bother you for that graphic??? We bought some black t-shirts and would like to put Pirate Mickey on the front of them in the upper left hand corner.

Thanks!!! :flower:

I had a special request for black and orange classic Mickeys for Halloween. Here are some different versions.

Hi! :wave2:

I really like a lot of you guys tshirt ideas. :worship: I have two ideas for tshirt design for my families upcomming trip, and I am humbly requesting if anyone can help me put my ideas into picture form since at the moment, I am sans-good software to do such with. So any help would be much appreciated. :goodvibes

My first idea is : A take off of the "I *heart* NY " tshirt. The design I had in mind would say " I *heart* WDW " and would be in the same font/same basic design as the I *heart* NY shirt. On the back would say " The Goff/Emry 3rd annual Disney World Trip 2006"

The 2nd idea is rather elaborate-- It is a Star Wars-y themed shirt. The shirt itself would be black, and on the front it would just say "A long time ago in a theme park far, far away..........."

and on the back it would have " DISNEY WORLD" at the top, but the words would be arranged and in the same font as the "Star Wars" logo is. Then it would say under that " Trip III, Return of the Goff/Emry families"
and then underneath that would have written out like the begining of the Star wars movie where the words start out a certain size and change size progressivly " Vacation!!! It has been a year since the Goff/Emry families had a vacation in the city of Orlando in Florida. With Michigan being as cold as it is the families knew they had to return to Walt Disney World to thaw out and have fun. But with the hot Florida sun, long lines, and foot blisters maybe it will be a tough journey. May the force be with them. "

Okay, here is a picture of our Tie Dye project :)

We did all of them the same but my daughters did come out a bit lighter :(
I have to say that soaking them in the fixer water for an hour made all the difference in the colors being crisp and bright, as we did a shirt the next day without the fixer water, and did it on a dry shirt instead of a damp shirt and it didnt' turn out nearly as well. It looks very worn :(

So from experience, I prefer the following steps:
  • Pre-wash the shirt, I used a nice 100% cotton Gildan from Cheapestees.com
  • Dry the shirt and add rubber bands and sewn Mickey Head or multiple ones (I used a double strand of Glide Floss)
  • Soak in fixer water for 30 minutes to a few hours
  • Wring out the shirt, I placed mine in the washer on the spin cycle to get it barely damp
  • Mix dye at it's maximum brightness instuctions, we used professional dye.
  • Pull the shirts from the washer, lay out on cardboard with a layer of plastic garbage bags underneath.
  • Start with Mickey Heads (use a nice bright color that won't blend with your other colors, just squirt enough on the Mickey Head to bleed to the floss
  • Put a darker color around the base of the Mickey Head and Rubber bands so the Mickey Head sticks out :)
  • Place the dyed shirt in a large Ziplock over night (I left mine for a bit over 48 hours).
  • Rinse the shirt out with cool water, cut off the rubberbands and floss
  • Wash in the washer with only other dyed items, no soap. I washed mine twice.

Final product:

Thanks Beiji, I love the orange and black striped Mickey Head! That is too cool!!

Here is a picture of the smaller Mickey Heads on the shirt (this one is on the back shoulder). Each shirt has one on the front/center and then I tried to put one more angled on the front hemline and 2 or 3 on the back (one large and 2 small...etc)

I went to effect, distort, crystal and glass and then just played around with the dimensions!!

thought some of you might like to give it a try

WOW WOW WOW! I'm going to see if either PSP or Photoshop can do this without the fancy $$$ program.

Beiji - I love all of these - again your work is fabulous. Last night I was following the great directions on how you created the pastel mickey and have a question for you. I noticed in all of the above and in the prior ones that your "ears" seem pretty much at the same height/spacing on each side. Are your eyes just that good or is there a trick you can share that might help me?

well this is a graphic i made that i will probably put on a shirt for disney somehow i will lol this is my first so its going to stink
