My grandma just called me -

she wanted to let me know she had gotten my Christmas card and that she couldn't read my letter - I told her I would print it large for her -

THEN she says

and those are just horrid pictures of your kids - they are so cute and they just look awful in those pictures :confused3 (they are the pics from my signature)

No! :earseek: How could any one say that?? - your kids look adorable in those pictures! Must be her eyesight - since she can't read the letter?

I'm so sorry you had to hear that! When we got married, we wore our bride and groom mouse ears at the end of the reception. The photo taken at that moment was so "us" that we used it in our thank you cards. All I heard from the relatives was, "I can't believe you sent the picture where we can't see your hairdo."

Anyway, along that vein, I think your photos are so "them." You can really see Julia and Nick's personalities shining through. Sometimes older people don't like that. I don't quite understand why.

We just got the kids' pictures taken for Christmas and decided to use the boring one where they're both looking at the camera for our Christmas cards. But the shots going on my desk at work are the more candid moments when DS showed DD a prop toy block and, even more precious, the one where he leaned in to give her a kiss on the cheek. They look so "them" and the memory of those natural moments happening during the photo shoot just makes me melt, but DD's face is partially hidden in both shots. I can just imagine the relatives' reactions if we sent them those photos!

That's so true - the candid shots are always the best but for some reason you feel you should send the formal ones. My favourite photo of me and my brother from when we were young is the one where he pulled a funny face at the camera and I'm just laughing at him!

Hey all... not sure if pictures will be up before we leave. The shirts are done, they look great, etc. But I definitely got a migraine this afternoon... we're talking puking and all (sorry, no filtering. too tired). I didn't start packing until 7, and now I have to make sure I have my papers, etc straight. And my head is all foggy from the meds.

This is KILLING me... I'm so OCD about this stuff. It's usually MORE than in order like a week before leaving. I'm sure it will be a great trip, though....

.... just gotta get on that plane.

If I have time I'll at least TAKE pictures, otherwise you'll have to see them later.

If I'm not back on, see you next week! :wave2:

Have a great trip Jen - hope you feel better soon

Cut-Out Cookies
1 cup butter (softened)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tab cold water
1 teas vanilla
1 teas baking powder
1 teas salt
3 cups flour

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, water, and vanilla, and blend well. Sift together the baking powder, salt, and one cup flour. Combine the sifted mixture with the first ingredients and beat well. Add the final two cups of flour a little at a time, until well mixed.

I put the dough in a gallon size ziplock bag and pat as thin as possible. Refrigerate overnight or for at least four hours. This dough rolls out best cold. I break off a piece at a time...I really recommend my ziplock bag method!

Preheat over to 375. Roll dough to about 1/4 thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 6-8 minutes. Remove cookie sheet from overn and allow cookies to cool slightly before moving to paper towels.

When cook, frost and decorate. We frost with dry fondant and sugar sprinkles.

Other tips:
1. Roll out dough in small amounts and keep dough chilled between batches.
2. Use as little flour as possible when rolling out cookies, because too much flour will make the cookies tough and dry.
3. The thickness of the cookies will determine how long they need to bake. Watch carefully and bake until set, but not brown.
4. These cookies freeze well. After frosting has set, layer carefully between sheets of wax paper in an airtight container.
5. Each batch yields approximately 4 dozen cookies.

Amy :)

Yum - more cookie recipes! I'm gonna get busy baking this weekend :goodvibes

I've got Lactose intolerance so struggle to buy cookies/cakes from the store so I've had to start baking my own so I can adapt the recipe and make them dairy free

We need a smilie rubbing his tummy and licking his lips... Kate?

Here are the pictures from my tiedying adventure. I am so tickled that they turned out, not as good as the craft queen Deb's though. I am just happy that they don't look like a royal mess. I only left the dye on for 4 hours, because I didn't have anymore time to wait, before rinsing. These pictures were before washing. After I washed them the became a little "softer" in color.

Wow Tammi they turned out great!

I wasn't able to watch the finale as I was in the ER trying desperately to pass a kidney stone. I've had 5 now, and this one was the worst. Mostly because I couldn't take any of my big meds at home when I first felt it coming on. With the Gastric Bypass I can't take certain types of pain meds. By the time DH came home from work I was in bed trying not to scream and scare the kids. Luckily, when we got to the hospital, they pumped me full of morphine so I either didn't feel the pain, or I just didn't care. It's all a bit fuzzy to me.

I hope you're feeling better. Is this one of the side effects of gastric bypass, or is it something you've always been stuck with?? I hope you feel better soon!

:cheer2: :cheer2: Hooray! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm on my way there too! How on earth did I post that many??

ETA - by posting 60 messages in a row and talking to myself it seems :rotfl: That's the problem when I try and catch up!!!

Ok I have a question for all of you...I am looking for a coffee table. I know what I want, I have seen it but I don't remember where.

I need a dark wood (preferably cherry, mahoghany, or just dark vaneer) rectangle table with the 6 slots underneath to put the linen lined baskets in.

Anyone have any idea where I can find something like this?
Thanks

This sounds like something from Pottery Barn (especially because of the baskets). Do you shop there at all??

I checked their website but couldn't find anything. Also tried Ikea & Crate & Barrel with no luck...

Kate, I bet your grandma would hate our Christmas card. Here's the picture I'm going to upload to do a photocard and I'll have the part with our names printed on it say something about Happy Holidays

That's cute Deb. I'm glad it is working again.

BTW, how did you get your names on your tie-dyed shirts without any white showing up? Did you cut out each letter individually and then irone them on?

I used light transfer paper as I only wanted the black to show up and hoped the shirt colors would show through. I did cut close to the letters, but as a unit, not as individual letters.

Deb
