Will Hannibal Lector make a surprise appearance again?

You and I both know that the majority of the trip reports posted here on the Dis do not include any reference, whatsoever, to Hannibal Lector.:confused3 But, you and I also know that I am not the “normal” trip report writer. :rotfl: Thus, we have the installment that starts with the question of whether or not Hannibal Lector will be making a surprise appearance...again. Again? What’s that you say? Or, for the people who read my last trip report, you’re probably saying “she did that again?”

Moving right along. Moving right along is what we did but we didn’t go far because we had some time to kill before our next Fastpass. Given that we were already in Adventureland, why not go on in and see our favorite tiki birds. The castmember at the turnstile said that a show was already in progress but we could go on in and wait for the next one. We were there all by ourselves for quite some time so we took a group selfie:

By the way, if you are in a group and somebody in that group takes a picture of the group, is that a still a selfie or a group selfie? Question of the day, I guess.

More and more people got into the line and, shortly thereafter, the doors to the small outside hut opened and we were greeted by these guys:

The doors to the building opened a few minutes later and we were let into the theater and we were soon soaking up the wonderful air conditioning. It was hot and humid that morning and the air conditioning felt divine. :lovestruc

I took a whole lotta non-flash pictures inside of the Tiki room and almost all of them came out pretty darn good. However, after three attempts to upload them to Photobucket and receiving error messages each and every single time, only one uploaded and it’s one of the worst of the bunch.

I know that the Tiki birds do not rank very high on the list of most people’s must do’s but we like it and see it every trip. After having done the Keys to the Kingdom Tour later on in the trip, I’m looking even more forward to seeing the show again next year and looking for some of the details that our tour guide told us about. But, that’s a story for later in the report so I’ll shut my trap on the matter for now. :ssst:

Enough time had passed that we could start making our way to our next Fastpass attraction which was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Hunter had one camera and I had another. First, I’ll post a only a few of mine since most had the back of John and Hunter’s heads and arms in them AND some wouldn’t upload to Photobucket.

Annnnd, we’re done:

Moving on to Hunter’s pictures:

Now, a couple of trip reports back, I had my trusty camera handy when we rode Big Thunder Mountain and I was taking pictures left and right, this way and that way including this way which was my attempt at a selfie without hanging myself:

DSCF2834.jpg

Yeah, embarrassing, I know! My kids laughed their butts off and told me that I looked like Hannibal Lector. So, did Hannibal Lector make a surprise appearance this trip?

Almost:

I was, literally, telling myself not to twist the camera strap around my face/neck again and I guess that I listened well enough.

The ride through the wilderness was a rip roarin’ good time and we had worked up a hankerin’ for something to snack on. Our search for a little something-something took us to the little shop in Frontierland that sells the candy by the pound and other goodies as well. Hunter mixed Skittles with M&Ms and, apparently, I didn’t get a picture but I am sure that you know what they look like. A note: Hunter said that they were gross mixed together and spent the rest of his time picking through them and separating them out instead of grabbing a few and tossing them in his mouth.

I bought some round Smarties type candy:

And, John ended up with the only kind of turkey leg that he likes....a rice crispy treat one covered in chocolate:

Hunter and I had to pay for our treats and John used a snack credit for his treat. We also bought a Sprite to wash it all down with.

**Up next: Why does he have that hang dog look all the time?

I haven't seen the Tiki Birds since I was a kid. Love the "group selfie".. or whatever it should be called. :thumbsup2

GREAT photos taken on BTMR! ::yes::

Hmmmm~ that candy you got in Frontierland just made an appearance on FB the other day! :goodvibes

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Does Hannibal Lector return? I remember that TR so well. :rotfl:

I don't mind the Tiki Birds and since Mark makes all the money for our trips, I agree to go and see it with him each year. It is an original, so worth our time (and love the air conditioning on those really hot days).

Hunter got some great shots on Big Thunder. I may buy a new camera and if I do I will be sure it has a strap I can use and I may be tempted to try to take a few pictures on the coasters. However, I hope I don't end up being Hannibal Lector Jr. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm glad to see you didn't quite turn into him again this year.

John looks like he really doesn't want his picture taken but wants to chow down on his turkey leg.

Yep, that candy did make an appearance. I found the bag of candy in the pantry and brought it to work with me. I couldn't let it go to waste.

Kathy, the strap that came with my camera was too rough so I bought one from Disney. It's so soft and doesn't rub my neck like the other one did. I love it!

John was like...Hurry up and take the picture so I can eat!

Why does he have that hang dog look all the time?

While still noshing on our snacks, we walked over to the Country Bears Jamboree. People! People! I know that this is another one of those that most don’t have to see but we do. I’m serious, every single trip, we see ‘em. ::yes::

We were some of the first folks to go through the turnstile thingamabobs and we noticed that they would get stuck and wouldn’t turn. I pushed the button on the top and it worked. :thumbsup2 Others folks? Well, let’s just say that they didn’t get the push the button that’s right smack in front of you memo. :rolleyes2 Call us mean, bad, whatever, but it was hilarious to be sitting there on the bench, snacking away and watching one after another try to figure out how to get in. After about a dozen or so people, a castmember came in and did something or other which fixed the problem and the people watchin’ show was over for us. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

**Disclaimer: Nobody was hurt in the turnstile thingamabob fiasco or I would have leapt across the room in a single bound and saved the day.

We didn’t have to sit in the room long (thank goodness, remember me saying it was hot and humid. Hot and humid=sweaty and stinky :crazy2:) and we were off to more air conditioned stuffed animal filled bliss.

These guys opened the show with their chitter chatter:

And, before long, we could hear the tinkling of the ivories:

The show started and there was foot stomping, hand clapping and toot-tooting (not that kind of tooting...the blowing of the moonshine jug tooting...as if that’s any better)

Then, my favorite bear of all came out! Big Al! Why does he have that hang dog look all the time? Poor thing! Always looking depressed and singing about blood on the saddle and blood on the ground. I still love him though!

Again, I know that the Country Bear Jamboree isn’t on everybody’s list but it’s on our’s and I’m glad that we saw them.

**Up next: He’s whispering sweet nothings to you! I can’t hear a dang thang!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: I would have loved to have seen you leap across the room in a single bound and saved the day. Trust me, I would have done the same thing...just sat and watched. :lmao:

Country Bears...another one my hubby loves and we try to do once a trip. See this is the one I enjoyed AFTER our Keys to the Kingdom Tour. So many little things you learn in that tour.

And I would have done it too!

Okay, wait a minute, I'm now wondering whether or not our guide told us anything about Country Bears. I don't think so.

Happy Belated Anniversary! This time of year always feels busy to me. I hope you get a chance for a breather soon!

Love the pics from the tiki room and Country Bears. But, of course, my favorite pics are on BTMMR. Glad you didn't end up hanging yourself in your camera strap. Too funny! :rotfl2:

I had no idea they make rice krispy chicken leg treats. :lmao:

I also want to see you leap across the room to save someone from the turnstiles! :lmao::rotfl2:

I like both Tiki and Country Bears too. They aren't exciting, but still entertaining and enjoyable. And air conditioned, which is another plus in the summer!

I remember your Hannibal Lector picture :rotfl: I'm glad you remembered to watch your camera strap this time though. :thumbsup2

I don't think I could ever try taking pictures on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I am usually hanging on for dear life.

We love the Tiki birds! It's nice and relaxing. We just went to Country Bears for the first time last year...and then we ended up watching it 5 times in one week! My 5-year-old absolutely loved it! We had so much fun every time! We also loved that or was never busy.

I hope everyone is feeling better! I can't wait to hear more!

Happy belated Anniversary!!!

Sorry to hear that John’s not been feeling well, as well as your boss. Makes for a chaotic time, so you are definitely forgiven for not updating sooner!!

I love the picture of the three of you on BTMRR. Just looks like a fun time. Good for you, for not strangling yourself with your camera strap. I just about did that on Expedition Everest. My camera strap was twisted around three times on that one.

There was a picture going around on Pinterest where someone had mixed M&Ms, Skittles and Reeces Pieces together. I found it hilarious.

I am dying!! I have never seen that rice krispie turkey leg before – too funny!

We've never seen the Tiki Birds, but do plan on hitting it on our next trip.

For our first Disney trip, Country Bears was closed for refurb. We did see it on our next trip, though, and we all loved it. We'll be doing it again.

I'm convinced that we must have been separated at birth! We're fast approaching our 30th (this year is like an out-of-control roller coaster!!) and like you, we can't believe all that time has past. We've had our struggles as well but that just makes the bond stronger :thumbsup2 Hope you enjoyed at least a few moments of "alone time" BIG AL!! OMG i loooove him, always have & always will. As soon as i read the title to your trip report i heard his voice in my head "there was blooood on the saddle, and bloooood all around and a great big puddle of blooood on the ground" pause for massive sigh :rotfl2:
Smarties??? Nah those are ROCKETS to me!
THIS is what Smarties look like here a poor excuse for candy coated chocolate. A couple of years ago they started using "natural flavours" and John & Em say they taste like .. uhm .. well, butt!! (not sure how they know what that tastes like :rotfl:) Psst, Em calls those sorts of pics "USIES" but then she's just weird!

You already know I love some country bears!! My favorite is " mama don't whoop little Beaufort" & " all the guys that turn me on- turn me down" :)

The turnstiles there are hard to get through now that I think about it!

You and Hunter got some fairly decent pics on BTMRR.

Love the Country Bears :) I get a kick out of Big Al, too! :rotfl2:

We love the country bear jamboree its a must see for us every trip. Big Al is my grandpas absolute favorite disney character. He has this stuffed Big Al at his house that is really old I have only ever seen the one he has.

Happy belated Anniversary! 30 years is a big deal. Good for ya'll!

I have not been into the Tiki room in years. DS and I were talking about that the other day. We are going to try to make it in December when we go.

Hannibal Lector! :rotfl2: Glad you did not wrap yourself up this time. If it was me trying to take pics with a strap the headline would read...And this is how Lisa died. :lmao:

The turnstile with the confused people...I absolutely love watching people get confused and befuddled. :rotfl: Too bad the CM came and ruined all of the fun.

I know exactly why the Country Bears look like that...they are all drinking! That's a whole lotta jugs they have in there! :drinking1

OH MY Stupid people watching is my favorite past time!!! I am sure Disney has it's share!!!

Happy Belated 30th anniversary! Sorry i missed that! and i hope everyone feels better SOON!

I cannot wait to see and hear the sweet sounds of Tiki Birds foot stomoin bears!!! LOVE IT ALL!!

You really need to frame the picture of your Hannibal.. I laughed really hard. Like REALLY REALLY hard... :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
