Disney dangled the visual weinee & Mickeystoontown gobbled it up! 10/26

Great seats for Fantasmic. Unfortunately for Fantsasmic, it is my least favorite of the fireworks shows at WDW. Fantasmic at DL is one of my alltime favorites. I am really not sure why other than the way it happens using attractions and rides in the park on the Rivers of America.

Love you BB photos. You all seem to be having fun. If it weren't January I would probably put that on my to do list. In January, I think I'll stay away from water parks.

Looking forward to more great updates.

Great updates!!
I'm looking forward to seeing Fantasmic again. We saw it at DL in March but haven't seen it at WDW in a couple trips.

Fun at the water park! You look cute in your not-trendy swimsuit!! :thumbsup2
I'd probably freak out at that slide though. Not my thing.

How fun to be making plans with Lacey for your next trip!! :cool1: Sooooo, you got John to look at menus and choose restaurants, and there are no "Sugar Britches" conversations to post? :confused3 Those are one of my favorite parts of your reports! :rotfl2:

That would be "sweetie britches" :lmao: and yes, he still calls me that all the time. Love my John Boy!

Our family LOVED Blizzard Beach! Let me tell you, be glad you didn't do the big tall slide, Summit Plummet. I did, and I am not exageratting (like we southerners love to do) when I say my legs were bruised from my heinee cheeks down to my knees after that slide!!! :scared1: It was horrible, I felt like I was being beaten all the way from the top to the bottom. :sad2:

Ouch! I had bruises on my back a day or two later and I couldn't figure out why. Then, we remembered the slides!

But, other than that...the rest of the slides and stuff were so much fun! That water park was one of the highlights of our 2013 trip. :goodvibes

We loved it too! We are going back next trip.

Good to know. I only did Fantasmic! once, and the wait for the show really detracted from the experience in my eyes.

The wait is a pain in the rear end! If you book the Fantasmic dining package, you don't have to wait in line and there's a separate entrance.:thumbsup2

:woohoo::banana::cool1:

I'm glad it was a good day!

It was a great day!

Cool! Seems like you can never cover everything there.

We need video! :rotfl2:

:lmao: Ummm, no.

My wife would be right there with you. She rode a ski lift once and actually WALKED DOWN THE MOUNTAIN rather than ride it back down.:rotfl:

That would be me!

Haven't we all been there?:lmao:

Oh, like I have any room to talk. Rumor has it sunglasses manufacturers test their product with photos of me at the pool. I like to tell people I only come in two colors: red or white.

Me too! I never tan. Just lily white or, like you said, red from sunburn.

Great job overcoming the phobia and having fun!

I conquered my fear several times this trip.

What luck on those seats at Fantasmic!

Kudos for overcoming your fear of heights to try something new! I don't blame you for skipping the Chair lift thingys. I'm not a big fan of them myself.

Thanks for the positive wishes for the H&V breakfast. At least it will get us into the park early and cross off a few important m&gs for DD.

I was not getting on the chairlifts for nothin'!

I'm betting that the meet and greets and early access to the park will be worth it.

Chesticles. CHESTICLES!!!! :lmao: I'm going to start using that one.

Feel free to use it any time.:thumbsup2

I have gotten so far behind! I blame work. It's been too busy so I haven't had time for replies.

I know what you mean! I'll read but then forget to post.:worried:

Your day at Blizzard Beach looks fun so far! I'd love that slide. Also, I bet you that I'm more pasty white than you are. At least you live in the south. I'm up north where most of our year we are bundled up and never see the sun.:rotfl2:

We had a great day! I would not like having to stay bundled up all the time like you guys do.

I can't believe how rude that family was at H&V. There is just no excuse for that. He can't even apologize? Some people are so entitled.

I know! At least he could have said excuse me.

Your Fantasmic pics weren't too bad! I could tell who everyone was in them.

Thanks!

I had to laugh again when you said you were going to karate chop John's throat with your flip flop :lmao::lmao:
We went to Blizzard Beach a long time ago and I remember walking up those stairs to the top of the slides ::yes:: We had a blast but it wore me out.
So which water park did you like best Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon ?
We plan on going to a water park our next trip but have not been to Typhoon Lagoon yet.

We all said that we liked Blizzard Beach better than Typhoon Lagoon. But, they both have their own appeal. Crushin' Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon is fantastic!

Great seats for Fantasmic!!! Love your pictures.

The family ride at Blizzard Beach is the best! It is always weird when the rides require a minimum number. We have that at a local water park and when Ben was riding with a friend on one of the double raft rides I had to go with some creepy old guy that was all by himself.

It is weird feeling riding with other people. I wouldn't have liked riding with the creepy old guy either.

I'm sorry that you were shocked by the cold water, but in Disney's defense, they do call it "Blizzard Beach"

True, true, very true.

:cool1: Yay, Lisa! I am so proud of you for setting aside your fears and doing the body slide! :worship:

I was proud of myself. I conquered the heights fear several times this trip. Well, except for at the Grand Floridian.;)

Glad to see your waterproof camera is still holding up. Isn't it great to have something like that when you are at a waterpark?

I love my waterproof camera! It's been dropped several times and it's still doing great.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your day at Blizzard Beach!

:fish:

I had hoped to get another update posted today but with the way work is going, I'm thinking it won't happen.

I really enjoy Fantasmic but wish that they'd do a little updating.

We really enjoyed our day at Blizzard Beach and are looking forward to going back again next trip.

I'd probably freak out at that slide though. Not my thing.

Thanks! I was a little self conscious at first but then figured, heck, I don't look hideous so who cares.

The slides were sooooo much fun!

OMG!! those stairs at that cave look awful! I don't think I could do it.. really I would chicken out.

about people pretending to not speak english I KNOW it happens.. the cook at work showed me pictures of tha MK parade and I asked him how long he had to wait to get those shots... he said they just walked up right before and stod there.

me: "didn't they tell you you were in a no stankig spot?" him: yes, but we pretending to not speak english (he is from mexico) GGGRR!!!!! I gave him what for.. (but not too much.. waitresses know better than to piss off the cook!)

the family at H&V.. overweight is one thing.. rude and self entitled is another. doesn't it just amzae you how some people think of no one but themselves? sigh

still enjoying your report! sorry I have been MIA hubby has had a few surgeries.

I get such a kick out of how much fun hunter is having with mom and dad! so good to see young adults enjoying their parents and time with them.. seems like a great kid!

Following along! I love your trip reports- it's like reading I know you guys!

Nice seat for Fantasmic! Love it! Great pics too! Denny and I saw it last month for the first time in years and I really enjoyed it. What a fun show.

OMG - you guys are so brave going down that slide. I did it once and between the water wedgie and feeling like my skin was being ripped off I did not love it. I guess you're so light that you just floated on top of the water. Way to go and fun pictures!

OMG!! those stairs at that cave look awful! I don't think I could do it.. really I would chicken out.

They are the scariest things ever! The first time that we took the cave tour, I didn't know about the steep open steps. I almost chickened out.

Good for you giving him the what for! That kind of behavior makes me so angry.

the family at H&V.. overweight is one thing.. rude and self entitled is another. doesn't it just amzae you how some people think of no one but themselves? sigh

That's my thinking. I don't care if someone is overweight. The point that I was making was that they were overweight AND rude! The rude made the weight an issue. :headache:

still enjoying your report! sorry I have been MIA hubby has had a few surgeries.

Everything okay?

I get such a kick out of how much fun hunter is having with mom and dad! so good to see young adults enjoying their parents and time with them.. seems like a great kid!

He's a pretty good kid! I think that I'll keep him. ;)

Following along! I love your trip reports- it's like reading I know you guys!

Thanks for popping in to let me know that you are still here!

Nice seat for Fantasmic! Love it! Great pics too! Denny and I saw it last month for the first time in years and I really enjoyed it. What a fun show.

We were very lucky that the CM let us through the ropes and to such good seats.

OMG - you guys are so brave going down that slide. I did it once and between the water wedgie and feeling like my skin was being ripped off I did not love it. I guess you're so light that you just floated on top of the water. Way to go and fun pictures!

I don't think that the weight had much to do with it because John said that he felt himself come off the slide too and he's just over 200 lbs.

Can you just push my butt with your foot or something?

We had been in the park less than an hour (including time to rent the locker, change and find a lounger) and we had already gone on the family raft ride and had two (three for me) rides down the slide. Not too dang shabby! :thumbsup2

We had another look at the map and saw that the toboggan racers were nearby. They sounded like fun so off we went! :hyper:

Hunter had the camera in his hands and he took a picture of the foam sled things over to our right.

Waiting to be told to move forward:

Hunter was going to try to take pictures of his view from the top but this is the only one that he took before the castmembers started giving us instructions.

We were all on our hands and knees waiting for word to lie down on our tummies and for the start signal. When the light came on and they told us to “GO!”, I just kinda stayed there. What am I saying? Kinda? I was stuck! The drain/screen thing underneath me had a suction on the foam and I wasn’t moving. I looked like a fool kicking and twisting around like a bucking bronco and all of the sudden I imagined what I looked like and I burst out laughing at myself. :lmao:

The castmembers were telling me to kick off on the ledge behind me but that didn’t help at all. I turned to one of the guys and said “Can you just push my butt with your foot or something!” and that had them laughing too. :rotfl: I kicked and wiggled and, finally, after almost every freakin’ body else was down at the bottom, I was on my way down. Despite the fact that I was the clear loser, it was so much fun!

Hunter turned and took a picture of the course:

Also nearby were....were....shoot, I forget the name of the other attraction. You sat in tubes and raced the person next to you. John doesn’t like any sort of tube ride and decided to sit this one out and just take pictures at the end of the race course. John’s reasoning behind not liking tube rides is the fact that he can never ever stay in the tube once it hits the pool of water at the end. No matter how hard he tries, he turns over sideways. Heck, he has even thought that he’d fall off a tube while going down a slide. The man and tubes don’t mix.

We picked up our tube and walked up the mountain to the start of the course. Hunter and I thought that we would be racing one another but somehow Hunter ended up going first.

Here comes Hunter!

And, I got my behind kicked by the lady on the right:

I can’t remember what the little building in the background was. Possibly restrooms?

We could hear squealing going on around the corner. Not squealing like “This just scared the crap outta me” squealing but “This is fun” kinda squealing so we decided to see what was going on. Uh-oh, the ride involved tubes. John decided that he’d take one for the team and go on Runoff Rapids anyway.

Our sneak peek at the ride before going on:

The pathway/steps up to the top is through what looks like woods and it’s pretty neat despite the fact that there really isn’t anything to look at. Still liked it though. At Disney water parks, they give you instructions on how to sit back in your tube and will help guide you and hold you until it’s your turn to go down. I like this because I am a clutz and need all the help that I can get when it comes to sitting down on a round piece of plastic in swirling water. :rolleyes1 Hunter was the first to make it down, then I came out and then down came John who promptly plopped sideways out of the tube. Bless his little Southern heart! He just can’t help himself! :rolleyes1

We turned in our tubes and the guys wanted to do the toboggan racers again. While we were talking, I asked John for my tub of Blistex that he had in his pocket and it wasn’t there! Noooooooooooo! :scared1: I am addicted to Blistex and keep it with me at all times. Blistex to me is like rum is to a pirate. What was I to do? Surely they sold Blistex in one of the stores. Let me tell you, finding Blistex in Blizzard Beach is impossible! We found a castmember in one of the stores who told me that they had some sort of lip balm in a tube and that’s all that they had so I settled for it instead of walking around bare lipped. That ain’t happenin’ in Lisa’s world. After my purchase, I had to make a pit stop so the guys went to do the racers without me.

**Up next: Ice Gators, Caves and Manatees! I’m gettin’ out!

Love this update! So nice to hear about you having a great time at the water park.

I am the exact opposite of John. I don't like the body slides but I'll do any of the tube rides.

What a great story about getting stuck, being able to laugh at yourself and getting others to laugh along with you.

:goodvibes

I hear you on the Blistex. Especially during Florida or trips to other warm, sunny places. My lips get so chapped. Sometimes a tube may get "accidentally" forgotten in my carryon so I will have it on the plane ride home.

:rolleyes1

Love the updates!!! And I just got back myself from a trip to the World, so I had a few to catch up on.

Fantasmic is my absolute favorite attraction in all of Disney! I refuse to miss it. I'm a little different from y'all though, because I've seen it enough times that now I like to see as much "backstage" stuff as I can, so this trip I asked the CM to sit as far to the side as possible. He looked at me like I'd sprouted an extra head. Literally, his response was "You want to sit on the side?" I didn't end up in the very far section, but I was in the one next to it, so I was happy.

It's so funny that you were very "meh" over Hollywood and Vine. We gave it our first shot (it wasn't a character meal), and felt the same way. The food just didn't wow me, and to be honest the service was not up to par.

I can't believe you've never done Blizzard Beach before! We were the opposite, in that it took us until just a couple of years ago to try Typhoon. When I was 16, my best friend talked me into doing Summit Plummet...which was the most terrifying 30 seconds of my life. I closed my eyes once I sat down on the slide because the height was making me dizzy. And then it's such an extreme angle that it takes about half a second once you push forward for your legs to connect with the slide. In that half second, I was convinced I'd pushed myself too far, had missed the slide completely, and was going to fall to my death.:scared1: I react rationally under pressure, can't you tell? :rolleyes1

My mom also had problems on the mats. We weren't at Blizzard Beach, but a waterpark in Williamsburg, VA. All 3 of us decided to race, and when the lifeguard says go we all push off. Dad and I get to the bottom, and Mom is nowhere to be seen! She couldn't figure out how to get the mat situated, so a lot of wriggling and writhing later, down she comes by her lonesome almost diagonally. I honestly thought she was going to jump the little ridge and end up in another lane. :sad2: Made for some good laughs though!

I find it funny that you couldn't find Blistex. I'm a Chapstick person myself (the medicated kind), but my dad constantly wants to borrow mine and ends up messing up the nice smooth edge. So last week I, ahem, "forgot" I had it in my pocket, so we asked where to get some. Baby Care Center! And they sell Blistex.

Loving your pictures from the park. Denny and I did the rapid runoffs (or whatever they are called) several times last June. I loved that ride. Well, at least until my stupid neck started to hurt.

Too funny about not being able to get your tobaggen to move. I would have cracked myself up too! :lmao:

We will be in the world 5/30 to 6/5 or 6/6. I really do hope we overlap!!!!!! ::yes::

i definititely dont want to rush away the time but I can't wait until my boys are old enough for water slides and such so we can visit the waterparks too! Looks so fun!

What a fun update, Lisa.

You got a lot done, but all those steps to get up to those slides. I'd need a nap after the second one. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

"Push my butt with your foot or something"...I love it.

I'm like John...I always fall out of the tube and end up sucking up water. Yet another reason I avoid the water parks.
