You know there is a lot of different opinions here on the DIS on what is worth it...
DCL, RCI, Concierge etc.
To that all I can say is, however you want to spend your points is up to you and your family/friends you travel with. If at the end of the day you end up with a wonderful vacation that provides you years of memories...then I feel it is points well spent.
I have been a member for 11 years now and have taken about 10 or so cruises using my points each and every time. Never have I felt it was not 'worth' it. I think ultimately you will either be a person who loves cruises or one who decides they are not for you. But how will you ever know that if you don't take the opportunity to book one. As to whether it is a good value....your memories and stories you talk about years from now will tell you.
I say take a chance and enjoy all the benefits of being a DVC member and not just going to WDW or DL. Don't get me wrong, I love WDW and DL but mostly enjoy the flexibility of vacationing where and how I want to year by year. To me it is all a good value of my points.
Hope that helps because I know my opinion may be quite different from others but that is what makes the DIS so fantastic!!!
