Disney Cruise DREAM January, 31, 2013

Question of the day:

What is your favorite Table Service Meal at Disney World? What is your favorite Counter Service Meal?

We really like dinner at Akershus in Epcot. I know a lot of people don't like the food because it's different, but that's what we like about it. And second would be the Rose and Crown, as it gives me a little taste of "home", which I don't get very often.

Counter service, don't really have a favorite.

Probably all cruise :rotfl2: I don't tend to drink "cool, tropical drinks". But you never know with this being a first cruise, I might just try one :)

Usually they have a special price for 1 featured drink each day. Your navigator will have it listed in case you're interested.

Has anyone done the "Midship Detective Agency"? :sail:

What are "Mickey Bars"? :earseek:

Has anyone bought a "Beer Card" and how much is it/is it worth it?:drinking1

princess: Leah

I just asked some guys who cruised with us last November and they said it was $18 for the large beer stein and of course that full of beer but they didnt remember how much each refill was. But it was much cheaper than buying beer each time. Plus you can keep the stein for a souvenir..

I guess they have one for around $30 that you get your name engraved on it.

Well my wife went snooping through my work expense credit card statement last night and started inquiring about the charge from DCL Reservations. I tried blowing it off, telling her it was a partial payment for our cruise in November, yada yada. Well, she would have none of it and demanded to know what it was for.

So, the surprise cruise announcement that was going to be on the 20th was let out last night. At first she was upset that I spent the money (she has an accounting degree) but then she started to become excited and was very surprised that we would have a verandah!

So, I guess I can now include her in on planning the FE gifts!

ok,
question of the day:

Are you doing anything in Nassau or staying on the ship?

My answer:

We dont have any excursions booked we have done most of them already but we are going to get off the ship and walk through the straw market and a few more stores down the 2nd block over from the port.

If we do anything there besides shop it would be the Pirate museum. Its very good and only takes about an hour to see. Plus their gift shop(dont have to do museum to see the gift shop) has some cool pirate stuff for pirate night.

Kathy
Of course that could have changed since we have been there. Its just 10 minutes walk at the most form the ship.

We're undecided. But we are leaning towards Atlantis. It's the only thing we haven't done yet. I'm always a sucker for the straw market. However, this is our first Dream cruise and I since this ship is bigger than Wonder my kids may opt to stay on.

Can't wait..:woohoo:

Sorry the cat is out of the bag early. My DH has spoiled a surprise or two over the years too.
Thats just part of being married I guess. But like you said at least now she can enjoy the fun of planning and the FE.;)

Maybe you can talk her into posting to say Hello here too.:thumbsup2
I know she will love the verandah!!!

Kathy

Hello! Yep...I'm the snoopy wife with the accounting degree...lol! And yea, know that I'm over the shock of him spending that kind of money without consulting me...I'm excited!

Tracy - that's the kind of thing I would do, can't keep a secret in this house :rotfl2:

Congrats on the anniversary, ours is the same day, just a different year:yay:

Hi Tracy,

Good to have you posting, now that the secret is out.;)

One time we kept a secret about a 7 day cruise from 2 of our grandkids but of course their parents knew. They flew out from Oregon to visit for a month and they thought we were going to Cocoa Beach for a few days. Even after we pulled into the port to unload the luggage they wernt sure what was happening. :confused3 It was really fun to fool them.:rotfl2:

I know you're going to have an awesome cruise!! :upsidedow

I wanted to share 1 of our door signs that Tara was so kind to print for us.:yay:

Can anyone figure out our "Tribe Name"? Sort of an inside joke between my DH & myself :listen: :sad2:
PS Tara don't tell...:rolleyes1

Hello! Yep...I'm the snoopy wife with the accounting degree...lol!

Happy Anniversary!

So excited for you...I love surprises, but I'm usually the one providing them pixiedust:

I would also be the "snoopy wife" and figure out something was going on before I was supposed to :rotfl2:

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

What is the best surprise you received or planned? :tinker: pixiedust:

Mine would be when my DH proposed to me. We had Chinese Take-Out & when I opened the fortune cookie it said "Leah, Will You Marry Me"? :cloud9:

I couldn't believe my DH actually pulled that off...so sweet & romantic :lovestruc
PS It was Valentine's Day Eve

In my defense...the credit card bill (for his business expense account) had been sitting unopened on the counter for 2 days! I had asked him a couple of time to get it (as he usually takes them to work to do his expense reports). Finally, my 2 yr old got to it, ripped it open and had is spread all over the family room. As I was gathering it all up...well, then the snooping began...loL! So dang, Trent...just pick up your stuff and you wouldn't have to worry about anything :)

I'd have to say that my best and biggest surprise was the morning I found out I was pregnant with dd. NOW that was a shock and a surprise :). As we had been married 16 years, had been through rounds and rounds of infertility, had adopted 2 babies (then 10 and 8) and totally figured that we were done!

Hi everyone!

This is going to be my first Disney Cruise, and the 3rd for my girlfriend (who I haven't told yet). I'm 26 and she's 22.

My girlfriend and I have been dating for 2 years. About a month in to our relationship, we found out that we both had a mutual unhealthy passion for Disney and bought annual passes for WDW. So we go to WDW about every 2 months. However, my girlfriend has developed an obsession with Disney cruises ever since the Dream and Fantasy set sail. I always catch her looking at them online, but this has died down since she's going on a 7 night trip with her family in June,

As I said I haven't told my girlfriend about it, and it's going to stay that way until we pull up to the port. We already had WDW trip planned for Jan 31 to Feb 3 because our "date-iversary" is on Feb 2nd. Once I found this cruise, I decided I had to book it. So I switched our stay to Jan 28th to Jan 31st and "surprised" her by telling her we're staying the whole week at Disney, which she was really excited about. She obviously has no idea what I have in store for her. She's going to flip out when we pull up to the port and starts asking me why we're there.

...hope she doesn't find a reason to come on here and read through these posts either. haha

Hi everyone!

This is going to be my first Disney Cruise, and the 3rd for my girlfriend (who I haven't told yet). I'm 26 and she's 22. The best part is that I'm going to pop the question on our last night on the ship!

My girlfriend and I have been dating for 2 years. About a month in to our relationship, we found out that we both had a mutual unhealthy passion for Disney and bought annual passes for WDW. Anyway, I plan on popping the question to her the last night that we're there. I'm thinking that we'll get dressed up, go get a drink, then before dinner, we'll go out to the front of the ship and I'll do it there :) Or maybe after dinner...who knows. Maybe I'll do it on the first day we leave port because I can't hold it. I have no clue. But again... I couldn't be more excited!

...hope she doesn't find a reason to come on here and read through these posts either. haha

Now thats a great surprize for her. Your going to have her spoiled. Thats the way it should be!
We have a meet the first day at 3 p.m. in the Vista Cafe, come join us and say hello. Deck 4 midship,
Maybe you could book Palos for a special dinner and propose there?? Thats a very romantic place to eat if you do it at dinner.

Question of the day answer:

Well the best Surprize I have planned was a surprize 7 day cruise on the Magic for the oldest 2 grandkids and their parents. Of course the parents knew so they had proper ID and clothing for dinner for the kids.
They thought they were going to spend a few days in a hotel on the beach in Cocoa beach. But we pulled into the port instead, it didnt sink in until we were getting out of the car and they asked what we were doing?

I said, Well I dont know about you but I am going on a 7 day cruise!!:goodvibes

I have had many awesome surprizes too. Twice a surprize cruise. 4 surprize pregnancies, 6 surprize grandkids, a surprize car and 2 surprize rescue dogs!!

We just got home from a fun but tiring few hours at Universal Studios. It was really quiet for a couple hours, during which time we zipped on many attractions.

I walked around arm and arm with Curious George for a bit, danced with Woody Pecker and even posed for photos with Shaggy and Scooby Doo too.

We ate at Mels diner and then went to the Islands of Adventure side. now that was busy!! We mostly just walked and looked there. Since we can go anytime its not a big deal to miss attractions. We will do them the next time we go.

I saw several Disney cruise line buses on the freeway too!!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

We chose not to find out the sex of the baby when I was pregnant with DS but I knew DH and his father were really hoping for a boy. I'll never forget hearing the doctor say it's a boy! DH had tears in his eyes after that announcement
