Hope everyone had a good monday. I spent the day laying down but I do feel better tonight so it was worth laying around for the day.


It was a pleasant 78 today. I love Florida winters!!

Hello!1/31/2013 Disney Dream cruisers !, I am so excited about this cruise ,My granddaughter really dont know what she is about to experience,She loves Minnie, Mickey , Goofy,Her birthday is the 31st ,I have her princess and pirates costume and her birthday tutu ready to go , I thought about taking her to see the dancing flamigoes , has anyone ever seen them ,We will be at the meet and greet, I have did the Fe before but its been a while , Soooo do we drop gifts at each extender every night for each person in our group , So each person in the room get a gift every day of the cruise , Or is it one gift per person, So if there are14 different cabins and 40 people would that be just 40 gifts or 120 gifts,.



Question of the day: What disney character will be on your tee shirt while on this Disney Dream cruise ?

My answer: we will be wearing Minnie

What a great and memorable birthday.
We saw the Marching Flamingos on one of our trips. We actually walked there enjoying the local sites and took a cab back to the ship. It is a trek but we enjoyed it.

What are the favorite Disney Characters of all in your party? What about favorite candy?

Hunter- Avengers and Star Wars, Hershey Chocolate bars
Hannah- any and all of the Princesses, Any chocolate with peanut butter. She likes gum too but only because she doesn't get it very often.
Jeff- Star Wars and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Jane - I like Daisy Duck and Chip and Dale. I actually don't have a favorite candy, it all depends on what I have a taste for that day.

It would be really helpful to get the answers for the kids in each party

My kids don't get candy that often, just as a very special treat, so they tend to like any.

Tegan - Tinkerbell. She doesn't like peanut butter.
Bryce - Phineus and Ferb
Amanda - Eeyore. I love milk chocolate, but being English, I have to admit to not liking American chocolate. If I had to pick one, I think pretzel M&Ms.
Dave - Genie from Aladdin / Star Wars. Snickers.

That has happened on every cruise I have been on.

Some just are so busy with work and family-school activities they dont post again., or just at the last minute they post.
Also some post, then cancel their cruise and forget to tell anyone here.

I always assume they are coming.

Candy. We rarely eat candy but any kind will do because if we dont eat it our son will get it when we get home so someone will enjoy it.

There is a general FE page on Facebook and a girl posted today that she was just off her cruise and they had a lot of theft, of both extenders and gifts I have to admit this worries me, after all the hard work, I would hate the people I've gotten to know not to get my gifts and vice versa (especially for the kids). So sad this happens.

The recommendation that I have seen is to use a cable or zip tie to secure the FE to the fish. This keeps someone from just walking by and grab it.
Our cabin steward on our last cruise warned us not to put a nice birthday magnet on the door because it might get taken. He implied it was teenagers.

We have never had the problem of theft but I have heard many times on the boards where people did have their extenders stolen. Door signs too.

Zip ties seem to be the most popular way to keep them secured.
I also have always heard it was kids in the halls late at night.

Some even take their extenders in around 10 and then put them back out the next morning. Their group just knew to deliver before 10 p.m.

If you have something really nice to deliver you can always ask the room host to put it in the room. The majority of the day the Host is in the hallway cleaning rooms or turning down the covers at night.
They are happy to help.

If your extender gets stolen, you can ask for a Disney bag to use for the rest of the trip for people to put gifts in. Not that it will make you feel better but people will at least know where to put their gifts.

Welcome! I am keeping the FE list for this cruise. I need your first names, the ages of any children, and your cabin number to put you on list. Please send this info right away because cutoff day is today (we'll be happy to have you though since you just found us).

FE Primer
Every stateroom has a fish hanging on the wall outside the door. This is part decoration and part message center. The fish is there for Disney to place important communications to you such as excursion tickets and notes from the Cruise staff. It is like a mailbox for your room.

On the DISboards discussion forums, it is very popular to participate in a Fish Extender exchange. This entails having a fish extender hanging off the fish outside your room. A fish extender can be made of cloth, plastic or vinyl. It can be very creative or very simple. If you don't care to create your own Fish Extender, you will find many auctions on EBay or Etsy where one can be customized for you.

All the people in the exchange buy little items and place them in each other's fish extenders. It is great fun to come back and check the items you have received.

We have participated our last two DCL cruises and really enjoyed it. It is like Christmas everytime you return to your room as you are looking to see if someone has left you a gift. Our DS also enjoys making the deliveries since we have to find rooms all over the ship.

Look at pages 3 & 4 of this board for previous posts form others. You can also do a quick web search for 'fish extender' and find multiple articles explaining this.
