This sounds WONDERFUL! I feel like this is a step in the right direction for DCL weddings. It's good to know that DFTW is working to upgrade the rather standardized experience of a DCL wedding. Don't get me wrong, I love planning my DCL wedding and wouldn't see myself getting married anywhere else but sometimes I wish I felt a little bit more of a personal attention. I'm ecstatic to hear about this :)

i know!! isnt that exciting! i was very excited when i received that email.

also if anyone is interested i just recently updated my planning journal with pictures of my wedding shoes, MOH dress, & the welcome bags! :woohoo:

So one year out - the surprise is not a secret - but really wouldn't you want to know? Mom is thrilled DSis and I have reserved her a vow renewal on the Fantasy in May 2012(they were already booked on the cruise). It's their 35th anniversary.

Dad seemed pleased - or at least he smiled- when we told them.

Mom and dad sent out the Save the Date cards DSis made to their siblings this morning. We'll see if anyone else comes on the cruise.

Mom wants vanilla cake with chocolate filling - I don't see that option with the new flavors - chocolate with caramel is the closest or the chocolate truffle mousse? Any suggestions?

So, glad to hear that they are happy about it. They are very lucky. Have fun planning this with your mom.

we had an amazing time, truly words cannot describe just how perfect everything turned out to be.

we did a 4 night cruise on the dream, on board wedding coordinator was sarah from england. our photogs were sanket from india and mari from south africa. the cake we chose was vanilla w/ white chocolate mouse, which got rave reviews from all 17 people who went. (they dropped the top portion off in our room and i ate it for breakfast most days)

sarah went above and beyond the call of duty orchestrating things like a 40th anniversary celebration for my in laws while on board. She was also to get me vodka on the rocks delivered while I did my makeup.

One added bonus, that no one discussed on here is the "princess bride surprise" while we were shooting the pictures onboard, there were many small children who would come up to me and ask me "Which princess are you?" "Can I get my picture taken with you?" which just contributed to the over all wonderful experience - so brides - be prepared. I called myself "Princess Bride" and their parents got a kick out of it, and the kiddos loved it.

The process can often be annoying because of delayed responses (due to the high volume workload Shanda carries, in my opinion) but if you just let Disney work its magic, I can almost assure you, you will have few regrets.

I am so happy to hear that everything went well for you! Congratulations :D

I cant wait to see pictures :)

how do I do post some pictures? I click on the little add image button, but my pics aren't linked to any URL.

I had to set up a free Photobucket account and upload my photos to their site to then paste to the DIS. I also had to resize my photos (web-large) before I uploaded to Photobucket (well I didn't have to, but it was easier then resizing in Photobucket for me). Hope this helps. Would love to see your photos!

Was your ceremony in the Outlook lounge? what was it like?

Good News DISBrides -
Shanda has gotten the official approval for a deck wedding on board the Dream. The DFTW website and official publications should be updated this week to reflect the progressive addition of venues.

Location: outside Palo called the Meridian Deck (12 aft)
Time: 12:30 on Nassau Day (which was Day 2 on our 4 night cruise)
Size Capacity: 20 people

I was the first bride to have this location (since I wrote a letter stating I organized my wedding around a deck wedding as the other two ships offer) and I was 100% pleased with the location. The shade was an added bonus in my mind, as it was 85 degrees that day (HOT by a Northerners standards)
As I understand it, Outlook will still be an option for the 4:30 and 5:30 slots, as well as Castaway Cay.

I attached a link of 50 pictures - see below- so you could get a flavor of what the deck wedding might look like as well as some of the terrific shots their photographers took. (the last 5 were non professional, including the private civil ceremony) I cannot say sing their praises enough. We had an amazing experience, where any bump in the road was taken care of immediately. Again, for other specific details, see my previous post and feel free to PM me w/ any question. The only base I didn't cover was Amanda, an American from Chicago, who did my hair. They do not have an on board makeup artist, however my combo of Lancome/MAC held up in the heat for over 9 hours.
Enjoy the experience and don't fret over slow responses, you will be amazed how beautifully it comes together.

Enjoy - PghBrideGirl

one last easy memory - go to your local craft store and buy a picture matte, you can drop it off @ deck 3 guest relations where you board and they will have characters sign it, and deliver it back into your stateroom. easy, cheap and makes a very memorable wedding picture for your wall :)

wow your pictures are so nice! you make a beautiful bride and im glad your big day went perfect for you :lovestrucdeff had some pictures that i had in mind in capturing. was this the onboard photographers? they came out amazing. i've been loving all the good news about the disney cruise weddings!

deck space looks great! im glad they made something work out. it deff. seems like everything we had concerns about got better. Im a happy disney bride so far with all the improvements! as for me it looks like the deck might be a tad small for my guest (35+).

yes, they were the standard on board photographers, we made no special requests and were very pleased with them. Honestly, I am not an overly bridal person, and I stare at those pictures and think to myself some of them belong in frames that you buy in the store.
Read my first post, it talks about everyone who made our day great, by name if you wish to request them :)
Thank you again for the well wishes, and I trust you will have the same great experience!

We opted for the $1k one, it was important because all of the family and kids involved that we have the disc so each family could get the prints they wanted. This will be payable at the end of your cruise, so if you are fortunate to have a shower, you could ask for Disney gift cards if you think cost might be an issue.

you can definitely see a difference in the real flowers vs the fake ones our little girls' carried, however ours were a fraction of the price, and the kids would have destroyed the real ones anyways. we did find freeze dried petals that we put in little bags for them because in their minds being a flower girl = throwing petals everywhere.
I ended up having one suitcase exclusively of wedding junk (including fish exchangers for 5 kids, which as signed them up as a surprise) and it worked out well because when that suitcase was empty after the wedding, I shoved my dress in there for the way home.
