I talked to Brianna and she's trying to get the colors changed. She's going to call me tomorrow with results. I am only 4 days away from leaving and I finally started packing tonight. I had a "staging area" before and now things are in suitcases. We're looking up!

Hi everyone,

I've got a couple of questions I was hoping someone could help me with, I hope they don’t seem silly.. .

1) Apparently Palo has a private dining area/room that can be set up for our reception dinner, which we were told we could have – is this set as a standard table similar to the restaurant or can you choose your decor decorations etc and make it a little more like a wedding reception table?

2) Also can you have favors placed at each setting and if so does anyone know what they have available? do we have to bring these with us?

3) With the cake, from the DCL bride photo’s I have seen, I have only ever seen the 2 tier with Mickey/Minnie on the top – can you upgrade or change to a different type of cake? With a different topper (say Arial & Eric? )

4) Has anyone placed gift bags in their guest rooms? And did you bring these with you and have them dropped off or did you order them from DCL?

Palo's private dining room is literally one little room with a large table that seats 14 people, max. You could definitely but your own decor in there! I'm guessing not too much b/c they don't want anyone monkeying around with the walls and stuff, but I couldn't imagine why they wouldn't allow some nice floral centerpieces or fun party elements.

2) Also can you have favors placed at each setting and if so does anyone know what they have available? do we have to bring these with us?
Disney offers gifts baskets and such but I don't know if they have little favors like you have in mind. I'd bring them myself if I were you.

Ariel and Eric, no. You can probably buy a figurine/topper yourself though and request they use that instead. DCL does not have many cake options. Whereas WDW has cake decorators who do the cakes, DCL only has pastry chefs who can make a limited amount of cake designs because they're not exclusively cake decorators (I know, sounds crazy - but I'm a cake decorator and I assure you, I'm not a pastry chef! They're 2 very different things, though related.) So unfortunately DCL doesn't have the best cake options. I don't believe you can even pay to "upgrade." They simply don't have the resources on the ship to do an elaborate cake that you may have in mind. I don't really love the options either so DF and I have decided to do a plain cake with real flowers on it. Just an idea if you would like that too!

4) Has anyone placed gift bags in their guest rooms? And did you bring these with you and have them dropped off or did you order them from DCL?
I plan on giving our guests gifts but I'm doing something a little different than gift bags in their rooms. I would ask Brianna (DCL wedding coordinator) about this.

Hope that helps!

:lmao: My response is pretty identical to Mikkel's!!

I am planning on putting some floral centerpieces on the table in Palo, and HOPEFULLY have a small cake table in the corner if there is room, with our Lady and the Tramp figurine. We will have already cut into the cake before dinner, so it won't be all pretty, but atleast the table will be! :lmao:

I am planning on having favors at each persons seat in Palo, but i will be brining them myself.

The cake....UGH! I believe i have finally accepted that I will not get my beautiful Mad Hatter cake. I'm hoping that POSSIBLy they could do a simple "Happily Ever After" 2 layer, or maybe just the Mickey head stamp one. Otherwise, i'm giving in and going with plain fresh flowers like Mikkel. It's just not worth the headache anymore.

And, i will also be placing Welcome Bags in their stateroom, but again, i will be providing them and bringing them myself. I'll have concierge deliver them the 1st day.

Jennifer, it would be nothing short of a MIRACLE if you could get a Mickey head stamp cake. You know I love ya girl, I do, but I just don't think you're going to get any cake options that aren't listed in the Planning Kit.

Good news... I got the other flower arrangement without much fuss. Bre is dropping off my pack at AKV on Tuesday. All looks well.

I didn't even consider asking for a different cake. I think Cathy explained that they are only trained for the two in the selection document.

You CAN ask for color on the cake...I asked for the green accents and the pastry chef said it was no problem..you could ask the onboard coordinator could handle it for you..it is just food color added to the fondant..

I can add about Palo...I had the place card thank you cards...I gave them to Rufaro and she had them placed on the plates...

I ordered flowers from an outside vendor so I had to arrange and set them up myself a few hours before the ceremony..but I had the first private dining session at 6pm..Read my trip report..if you go with floral from Disney..I am sure they will set it up.

Betsy - was it colored fondant or buttercream roses? I wonder if they'd do an entire cake in a different color fondant. Something tells me no but it'd be a nice option for other brides. (I want white either way but I'd be curious to know the answer!) And do they give you the 2-piece serving set as a gift? (I see it in your TR pics.) Or you bought that?

they don't have the mickey stamp??

How hard would it be to just make icing mickey heads? Can't you pipe 2 small circles and one big circle with buttercream? Couldn't they do this instead of the scrolls?

My fondant was marbled with green and then green roses..I didn't ask to meet with the pastry chef..I should have since I was on the cruise prior to our sailing..I just gave them free license and I have had really nice comments about if even from theknot.com!
I am not sure if you can really see it here...

The 2 piece server was the ships..they use it for every DFTW...I didn't know you could buy it until I came back..I was going to order it from Cathy..but I just never got around to actually doing it.

Mine had fondant flowers, I don't see why they couldn't change them into Mickey heads.

Thank you so much for your cake pictures! I'm thinking of going pink. DD7's dress is pink (the older daughter 16 has a sash on her dress that matches mine).

I know they should be color coordinated - and if I were willing to give up my spa day and some of the excursions I could have ordered something from David's bridal. But TRY to get a 16 year old and 7 year old to agree on dress prints and/or colors! They're both formal but don't match exactly.

I think Jennifer's talking about the repeated Mickey head silhouettes that are repeatedly stamped and painted in gold, usually, on some WDW cakes. I'm sure they could do three circles/spheres to make mickey's head instead of roses but I think she's talking about something else.

I know what they mickey stamp looks like - see below. But I always thought that it was just like a confetti that they put on the cake. If this is the case, how hard could it be? Does anyone know what it is made out of?

I think that it is just best to get what's offered in the package. Bye-bye dream cake.

Hello, First of all thanks to all of you for sharing your TR and PJ. I have spent a few hours... ok a lot of hours reading about your plans and looking at all of your beautiful pics.

I'm getting married on the DCL in May 2010. I'm very excited because it will be my first time to WDW and on a cruise. I have been blessed to go to DL many times because I don't live to far away from it, but I also want to do something different for the wedding. I have been in contact with Brie and I'm just waiting for the packet because the prices are going to go up for the 2010 brides...yuck. Oh well at least I have it on the "books" now and that is all I really care about.

Anyways thanks again and I can't wait to talk about plans with all of you.

Jennifer
