Hello everyone! My name is Kimberly and I've spent the last 2 weeks reading through this thread- thank you for all the information and advice! I was engaged at the World this past May and we're sailing on the Disney Dream May 15-19, 2011 with our wedding on Castaway Cay. I'm so excited! It's going to be very small- just our parents and my sister (his brothers can't afford to come). How does one start a planning journal? I'm very new to the Disboards and would love to contribute my experiences to help future brides!

How do I go about booking PALO reservations for a group. My fiance and I are able to book on Friday if our cruise is paid off can we reserve for only us or can we reserve for our group of adults on the cruise even if their reservations aren't paid off? Also, Shanda is out until next monday now I was going to go through her to book the PALO reserve but know I might have to wait until monday unless someone knows another route to take to book for our adult group? thanks!

We booked on-line for us at the time that we wanted. Then, I let Cathy (the girl at the time) know and all of our guests were linked. She took care of it from there. I would imagine it is pretty much the same. If I am wrong, one of the "newer" brides will let you know. We didn't use the private room because we wanted it later than what they wanted us too....there was another group that had already requested to have it. We saw it when we ate brunch at Palo, and I have to say I enjoyed being out in the middle of the restaurant instead. I know most of the girls liked being in the room.
Hope this helps

Cheryl

Hello ladies I hope everyone had a great 4th! I was wondering if anyone knows if you have to pay for the childrens club or daycare onboard? I've seen really neat stuff and there will be a 2 yrs and 3 kids between 8-12 yrs

hey great, thanksfor the quick reply Cheryl.

I have another question that I am not sure if anyone can answer but since Shanda is out I thought I would give it a shot on here.

So we got all the wedding planning stuff and I see that you pay the 2500 or 3500 with the CC verification sheet but that you can only use a CREDIT card and not a DEBIT card? Why no debit card? We have a small town bank that we could let know that a large amount was going to be taken out on a charge and they would let us, so is there anyway that we could use our debit card instead so we don't have to incur all of the other fees? I don't have a CC that I can put 3500 on......or can they work with you and do small increments over a few days instead of 3500 all at once just in case the bank can't let us do the 3500 all at once....Thanks in advance!

Can't your debit card be used as a credit card? I know mine can....of course there needs to be enough money in the acct. I would talk to your bank and ask, and make certain that they are aware of the charge. When we went to Russia to adopt our children, we called our bank in advance so that they would be certain to clear the charges that we were going to be making. They knew the dates, the charge amounts, and who would be making the charges so it all went through without difficulty.

They probably don't want to use it as debit due to a fee they may incur.

yes that's what we are going to try to do. I think if we just contact the bank and let them know in advance that the money is going to be charged they should be okay to do it no problem, after all it's our money! I just know that some banks only allow so much to be withdrawn a day but I guess if they know in advance it would be fine.

Thanks again!

We booked the private room that holds 12-14 guests. I had to fax DCL special services the names and conf# of everyone that would be there. It ended up being a disaster as DCL would have booked it at 180 days, but DFTW told me it couldn't be done until 30 days out!! I found out from the DCL forum about 90days prior to sailing and contacted my planner. she had no idea. I ended up getting it all done thru DCL special services.

I think that is for over 3's and potty trained. If they are under 3 they go into Founder's Nursery and that is a per hour charge.

I know on one cruise, someone in the group had a sitter. It was cheaper to pay for a 4th person in the cabin than to try and get reservations in the nursery and pay the fee

Betsy;

oooo, thanks for the clarification...we didn't travel with any real young ones.

And, how the heck are you??? Lobsters are back up here in droves....$4.99/pound up the street from me. The problem is to ship them to you will cost $30+

I don't understand why you girls are able to book and I have to wait until Jan. Please give me the name of someone to talk to. We are getting so discouraged at this point.

I booked through my Tammy, my travel agent at Kingdom Konsultants. She set everything up with Shanda a few weeks ago.

Unless they have changed the rule, they will not book your wedding date until 12 months out.
I had my cruise booked in January 2007 for a sailing of July 2008 and they would not add my ceremony until July 2007..they said I was penciled in, but not confirmed.

Maybe with people booking out so far now, they have changed that..but I had to actually book with DFTW..they would not even talk to my TA

I called back today and actually talked to someone who has a clue! She took all my information and I am waiting on a callback from Shanda. I feel much better now. I didn't think it was right having to wait until Jan to book my wedding.

I am a Travel Agent and I contacted Shanda for my Client. I cc'ed the client and now we both get the emailes from Shanda. It worked out great and they booked my client for October/November 2011 a month or so ago!

I am guessing the guy I talked with last week was clueless or something. There was no way I was waiting until January to book. The girl today was much better and I am starting to have hope again.
