We had vanilla ice cream served with our cake. Like Goldeelox we all had lunch at Cookies and there were still hours spent on the beach. :)

Awe that sounds great we are all really looking forward to experience castaway cay this will be everyones first dcl cruise!!!

And how can you possibly go wrong with cake and ice cream lol?
Do you have to reserve lunch at cookies? Did you wear your dress or change?

We are all soooo excited I've never cruised with Disney before but everyone keeps saying it's the best of the best! We are excited to ride this new aqua duck lol and I can't wait to see these new high def portholes!!

Cookies is the lunch place on the island. We left Palo and our guests went and changed, we took a few pictures around the ship then changed so we were like 30 minutes behind them. We had lunch in our swim suits, cookies is right on the beach, and then we all got chairs together and had a great time swimming and playing all afternoon! We were some of the last people back to the ship. They have not yet announced if they are having pirate night on the new ship (I am sure they will) but this was Pirate night and everyone changed into their costumes and we all had dinner. We did book the latter dining, which I recommend since when you have early dining for dinner they rush you out so the next, later, group can come in. We closed the restaurants down each night being the last table to leave most nights. No one rushed us and they even brought my dad extra deserts to take to his room.

Oooh! I love the idea of having ice cream with the cake. We did the same thing for our wedding so it would be neat to have it at our renewal too.

Hi all! I have been using the boards/reading/stalking/:surfweb: getting help from other DCL brides! However, we have changed the wedding to a Wishes in WDW (because my sister got pregnant and can't cruise - yay for her, boo for the dcl wedding plan - but it's more worth it to have her there, otherwise paradise wouldn't truly be paradise!)

I just wanted to say thank you for your help/responses other DCL brides!! Thank you!! and bye for now! :D

:hippie:

Dream brides, what kind of responses are you getting from DCL? I called today and was told to call back in Jan! Is anyone else getting this?

hey patty I know I've been dreaming of the dream lol. I've spoken to My planner about where the cake cutting would be held on the new dream but unfortunatly since the ship has not set sail yet they can not give a deffinate answer to where it would be. I'm really hoping they switch things up a bit for 2011 and move the cake cutting to that new French restaurant it looks romantically FAB!!!

I got nothing today when I called. Was not even asked if I wanted a CC wedding or or onboard wedding. I am so bummed. We know what we want but they don't. I was not impressed with things today. I want this to be special and we have started some planning bt need to talk to someone I thought. I just want to :sad1:

Sit tight....when we were renewing our vows on the Jan 2008 cruise, I booked the cruise in Nov. 2007, called Disney right away and was told to call back in a few months. That is just how they do things. I know when it is your wedding, you feel the compulsion to be on top of everything and get it all ironed out. I know I did....and I didn't even know about the wedding board!! My suggestion is to read all the TR's you can, write down everything you want to happen, and then start calling them in December until they actually book your date. You will get the info at that time, but you, being the savey Diser you are, will have all your info ready to go!!!

happy planning,

Cheryl

When I first talked to someone at dftw ( not a wedding planner) the call person who answered to take info was not very friendly sounding and not very disney like, also she left me feeling like maybe a dftw wasn't for me. However I knew Ive always wanted a disney fairytale wedding ever since i was a little princess and I wasn't going to let a under whelming girl get in the way of my dream so I researched what I wanted and what I knew dftw could do wrote it down. I called again told the new call person what I wanted and she sent my info to a planner who could assist me with what I wanted. She got back to me n she's been great. You just have to be patient and tell them what you want it's your wedding right lol :-)

Just a headsup I believe they only do one castaway cay wedding per cruise so your need to see if that wedding date is available (so it's hard for you to choose your dream date)
For me the wedding date choosing was easier if you knew how long of a cruise you wanted to go on, go on dcl web site and look at the different cruises and dates you are ok with and ask if any of those dates are booked for whatever wedding you wanted cc or deck with a planner.

That's crap and my major complaint about DCL weddings. they make you feel 2nd rate during the planning session. It may take them all of 2 weeks to plan your wedding, but you've planned a lifetime for it and it's DISNEY!! They should make you feel like a princess from your very 1st phone call. If this is how they treat us when we are inquiring to do business with them, what will it be like once they actually have your money?? DFTW really needs to step up their game with DCL ceremony's.

Hey ~ Keep calling until they let you talk to a wedding planner. I had no luck with the first people, but once I got to talk to a planner it was fine. I am booked/date confirmed for a Castaway Cay Disney Dream wedding on the September 15, 2011 sailing.

When I first called. I told them I wanted to know what to do about booking as if I can't confirm the date, I don't want to book, once I pestered (nicely) enough they took my information to have a planner call me. Once she called me it was lovely, answered my questions, let me "pencil" in a date. After I penciled in the date I got an email and was able to confirm the date (early?).

So keep trying and good luck!

In response to your frustration Disney only has one 3 wedding per ship. So I really wanted CC and it was booked for May, I was so upset and they only will book you for 1yr to the date first come first serve. With that said I had to actually plan my weddiing based on availability and since I wanted so much to be married at CC it was not an option but to wait. I finally got my date I am on the Disney Magic Western Nov. 27th sail and Dec. 3, 2010 is the CC wedding. So my advice is that when it comes to Disney Cruise wedding you have to understand that its really not under your control and if you did want to have the control than Disney Cruise line is not for U, because it is really under the Disney Cruise Personnel that make or break that day, but since I am so not into the whole BRIDZILLA idea, and am excited just to be going on a Disney Cruise I am a little more understanding when I did not get calls back from the first wedding coordinator, Shanda on the other hand is the best I email and get a response the same day, so its really not like any other wedding experince not even a destination land wedding is as out of your control as a cruise wedding at least thats what I get from reading these boards, but I am truly okay with it...I am so much more into the gown and the things I can control that I let the things I cant simply try to work themselves out. Hope u feel better after this...DIS boards so happy I have you girls....xoxoxo

AMEN sista!!! I think that was extremely well put and very true. There are certain things that can't be controlled and best to know it up front!!

Shanda has been really good when it comes to commmunication. As of right now,I have never called Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and only have been communicating my concerns through emails. Maybe you should try emailing instead of calling for better luck? Every time I send her an email I get a reply prompltly. My September 2011 CC vow renewal was officially put on the books as of 2 weeks ago :cool1::cool1::cool1:
Now I'm just hoping Mother Nature cooperates with us,lol

I have a question...Will they reimburse you for guests that don't make the cruise? Let's say if someone said they were going to attend, but cancels... I know I will have to pay extra for some of the guests because we will be going over what the package covers.

you pay for the guests 11-20 I think..I only had 5 people over the 10 but it was a flat $100..if I only had 11 come, it was still $100..if I had 18, it was $100
I think that is your question.

I believe they changed that policy. Now it's an additional $20 per person (3 years old and up).
We sent out the Save The Dates 2 weeks ago,& a lot of people already got back to us (by phone or returned the postcard) saying they will be there. The only thing is only 2 of them has made air and cruise reservation. I know it's a long time from now,but I know some of them will end up not going. So I was wondering if let say 10 guests (besides the 8 covered by the package) that I already paid for don't go on the cruise, will they reimburse us the $200?

They don't charge you until you send the paperwork back in, which is 60 days before your sail date. By that time everyone that is going would have to have their cruises paid in full. The base price of the wedding/VR is added on to your cruise price, to be paid in full by 75 days out. After you send in your planning packet, at 60 days out, they send you an invoice for the rest of the people. You have to provide reservation numbers for everyone, and they cross check it. The invoice will also include additional floral and champagne upgrades, I believe. But the photography is not paid for until you are actually on the cruise. We just sent in the planning packet for my son's September wedding and are waiting for the invoice. Shanda is gone this week, so she told us it would be the week after or so before we get the invoice.
