Disney Chix Do Disney on Land & Sea! Updated 8/18/08 LBD's, AP & a Fond Farewell

Now I don't feel so bad! You wore some decorations too! :goodvibes
This is actually my friend Pam. She wore them. I couldn't find a hat I liked enough to wear and pay that price for.

I still think you looked aweful cute in your decorations!!!

Let’s see……..where did I leave you??? Oh Yeah! We were at the end of MVMCP after LOTS of pixie dust and headed back to POR for a good nights sleep. This was the night I erased all my pictures from Sun & Mon! I was sooo upset, but what was I going to do? I figured I’d make up for it the rest of the week and I knew I could get copies of the others pictures. Roz & Judy had stopped at the hot tub on their way back and jumped in fully clothed! They had been looking forward to getting into it all day and were afraid it would close before they had time to change and go back.
So we awoke on Tuesday morning bright eyed and bushy tailed. (OK, only the two morning people were like that, the rest were dragging butt!) We got ready and headed down to catch the bus.

IMG_0822.jpg

We arrived at Epcot and it was another beautiful day! The sun was shining, the topiaries were glowing and Goofy was just waiting for a morning smooch! (So, Judy obliged!)
IMG_0827.jpg

We had decided to head over and get fast passes to Soarin’ first thing. Yes…I said Soarin’!
IMG_0835.jpg

Now some of you know I had been debating this ride for months! I get motion sick easily, I’m afraid of heights to a point and the idea of this ride scared the poopies out of me! MJ & I decided that just because we get the fast passes doesn’t mean we have to use them. While we waited for our time, we went to see “Circle of Life”. We walked around some and met up with this guy:
IMG_0828.jpg

I was the only one in our group to know who Figment was! So sad!

After that we were able to head back to Soarin’, so we did. I was still fighting a war in my head on whether or not I was going on or not. We got in line, right to the front and were in line 2. OK..I knew the 1st line went the highest, so that was OK. The war in my head raged on, but I calmly walked in, buckled up and shook! The ride started and we lifted and I shook some more!!! (OK, I may have screamed just a little!) MJ kept her eyes closed the entire ride, but I did bravely experience most of it. Judy gave a running commentary for MJ, so when we were low she would open her eyes! It was an amazing ride! The smell of the orange grove, the sights, the mountains, DisneyLand….all of it! I have to say I liked it and will probably go on it again with DH. (One ride conquered…hopefully more to go!) We ate at “The Garden Grill” where I had a delicious grilled veggie sandwich, sun chips and a diet coke. It all was very good and very filling.
IMG_0837.jpg

After lunch we walked around, had some fast pass pics taken,
image023.jpg

went on “Nemo” (which was just OK in my opinion) and then headed to “Turtle Talk with Crush”. This was very cute and I was impressed with the CM playing Crush. He sounded so much like him and had us all laughing. I bet if you had kids with you it would have been even more fun! I do recommend seeing this, whether you are with or without kids!

MJ had found out that as Disney Visa Cardholders, you can get a free 5x7 picture taken with some characters. Now we didn’t know who would be there, but we decided to do it, as three of us are cardholders. I was sooo excited to see Mickey!
image037.jpg

Funny how easy it is to turn into a kid again and feel that type of excitement! We had about 3 min with Mickey and Pluto, had our picture taken and would be able to pick it up later that day. How thrilling to be that close to the characters and genuinely enjoy them! I think DH and I will be doing this again when we go in Sept!
image079.jpg

We then went on "Honey I Shrunk The Audience". (Aren't we beautiful in our 3D glasses???)
IMG_0834.jpg

From there we headed to “Ellen’s Energy Adventure”. Roz opted out of this one and ended up here:
IMG_2527.jpg

Taking a nap! I think we all could have done without this ride. The 180 degree screen made Judy light headed and the rest of us just thought it was way too long. My opinion is to skip this one.

After that we had had enough of rides and decided to chill for awhile. So, we left the park and ended up here:
IMG_0843.jpg

I had never been to the Polynesian and thought it was beautiful! I can’t imagine staying here though. Too fancy for me! We wandered a little bit, all got lei’d by the same gentleman and then headed out to the beach and all got some type of tropical drink. To our dismay, they did not have umbrellas at that bar because of it being near the pool. Oh well. We found seats, took off our shoes and enjoyed the beautiful view, fabulous weather and our cold tropical drinks!
IMG_0850.jpg

(Later, Judy decided we needed umbrellas and went and found us some!)
IMG_0856.jpg

After the rest, we went back to Epcot and headed to World Showcase. We walked around, but did not explore the countries that much. Since Mexico was mine & Roz’s favorite, we did stop there for a little while. By now we were getting hungry and trying to decide where to eat. Roz and I would have been perfectly happy with a CS meal, as we were discussing going to Morocco, but we all ended up in Italy! This restaurant was very fancy, beautiful and pricey! But what a great meal! We had fun with the waiter and they even ended up singing “Happy Birthday” to MJ due to a miscommunication! Here is our waiter Matteo, his helper, Francesca along with MJ.
IMG_0872.jpg

Not the best picture of MJ, but….isn’t he gorgeous?!?

We wandered the WS awhile longer, found a spot for Illuminations and enjoyed the rest of the night. We again joined the herd heading for the exit and headed back to POR. Another day gone and only one more left for Magic Kingdom!!!!

I'm so glad you rode Soarin! Isn't it fun? I love the tippy top only because I'm no a footless view snob. :snooty: I could ride it over and over but remember how petrified I was the first time. I got right back on till I wasn't freaked out anymore. Now it's as scary as Dumbo. ;)

You are so cute! I loved all your pictures too.
That waiter is a hotty....:lovestruc You can crop the rest out later :rolleyes1

Thanks for updating Gayle! Can't wait for more!

P.S. Don't think I missed the "lei'd by some nice gentlemen crack!" :cool2:

Gayle! Just read the last two installments, and boy....you girls have got a LOT more energy than me!

That Stockton is FABULOUS! Sound like he loves spreading the pixie dust. :wizard:

Your Epcot day sounds great too. Aren't you glad you rode Soarin'? I just love that ride. And I agree about the Energy Adventure.

But. I can't get anyone to see HISTA with me! The girls were freaked out by our 2000 HISTA experience where they both left the theater screaming and and they still won't go anywhere near it. :confused3

What have you got left in the parks? One day? Then cruise for 3?

Can't wait to hear more........

I can't believe they got in the hottub fully dressed!:lmao:

I love the pic of you with Mickey!!

So pleased you faced your Soarin fears and loved it :goodvibes

Looks like you had lots of fun on the beach and all getting leid by the same man hey :rotfl:

Gayle,

I got a little behind, sorry, but I'm all caught up.

Dr's orders. I can't do anything, just rest, so I am using DH's laptop.

I am one who has a major fear of heights. I fear for my kids while on that ride and I can't shake it. Terrified. Maybe if I went on alone, I could enjoy it? Hummm?

Great update. I busted up just thinking of them in the hot tub fully clothed :rotfl2:
So glad you overcame your fears and rode Soarin it's my favorite.:lovestruc

So looking forward to more!

Gayle - Great update.

Glad you rode Soarin'. I have not but plan on riding when we go in 2009. I have never seen Figment at WDW. So cool. :thumbsup2 Yeah on the score for the free 5 x 7 picture, is that all the time. I am a Disney Visa cardholder too, where was that? Love Matteo too, such a cutie.

Thank-you all for your responses to my update! I appreciate it and am glad you are enjoying it as much as i am writing it for you! :grouphug:

I am glad I rode Soarin'. (Even if it did freak me out!) I will ride again with DH when we go in Sept. It was just the "takeoff" that felt wierd.
I'll go to HISTA with you when we meet in Sept! ;) Just you & me!!!!

I can't believe they got in the hottub fully dressed!:lmao:

I love the pic of you with Mickey!!

Yeah, we couldn't believe it either. I think Roz's jeans were soaked the rest of the trip!!!

So pleased you faced your Soarin fears and loved it :goodvibes

The beach was great and just being able to relax was nice. I do believe I am going to make the timme to see other resorts while there. They are all so different.

You sit and DIS all day...after all the Dr told you too! :rotfl:
The height thing is what got me more than the simulator. It is just something I'll have to get use to, I guess. :confused3

Heh, What happens in Disney World stays in Disney World!

We said that throughout the whole trip! :thumbsup2 For that reason, there are a few things that WILL NOT make it inbto this TR.

Great update. I busted up just thinking of them in the hot tub fully clothed :rotfl2:
So glad you overcame your fears and rode Soarin it's my favorite.:lovestruc

So looking forward to more!

They both said they were ready to strip down to bra & panties, but there were too many men in the hot tub! :rotfl2: I'm sure they wouldn't have minded!!!

Gayle - Great update.

Definitely ride it. That is what everyone told me and I am glad i did. I will go on it again and hopefully the height won't freak me out as much. :hippie:

You may have noticed the lack of rides mentioned that are the BIG ones at Epcot. Well, we didn't go on them. :sad2: I really missed Test Track but NOT Mission Space. I wouldn't go on that one anyway. We didn't hit any in the WS and spent alot of time just walking around. The sights and sounds of Epcot are wonderful and you can really soak in the atmosphere by just wandering.

With that said, we really did get to do alot more than it felt like we were doing at the time. I am sooo use to doing more in the WS, that I guess I didn't notice how much we accomplished in Future World. :woohoo: From now on I will start looking at the glass as half full, NOT half empty! :cloud9:

 Hi All!!!

Bet you thought I forgot about this TR! :rolleyes1 (If anyone is even still reading!) I haven't. Life gets in the way of DISsing! The plan is to post the next installment tonight. Please stay with me....the best is yet to come!!!:woohoo:

DAY 4:

We were up bright and early as we had reservations to have breakfast with "The Main Mouse"! We were headed to:
IMG_0927.jpg

This was the first time I had been in the Contemporary and it was wonderful! I was regretting never doing a character breakfast with my own kids when we had come. Guess I'll make that up with my grandkids!!

We were showed to our table rather quickly and saw Pluto immediately! He was making his rounds and was absolutely adorable!

IMG_0909.jpg

We were seated next to an adorable family and the Mom offered to take our picture for us....how sweet is that?

IMG_0906.jpg

Through conversation, I found out she is on the DIS! How exciting is that!?! She handed me a Home Depot Lime Green Paint Chip with her name on it!! I am very grateful for that as i know I would have forgotten!
Sooooo, HI MOUSKA-MADDI!!!!
She was so sweet and took more pics for us.

IMG_0916.jpg

It was time for the party and we all got in the swing of things by twirling our napkins. (Why? :confused3 Because it was the thing to do!!!)

IMG_0912.jpg

IMG_0911.jpg

The buffet was full of wonderful things and it was hard to decide what to eat! Eggs, pastries, waffles, fruit, sausage...you name it, it was there! YUM!Here is a unique perspective of my plate:

IMG_0918.jpg

The interaction with the characters was amazing! It seemed they there was always one of them coming to the table! That was the best part of the breakfast and made it worth every penny! This is definitely somthing I would suggest to anyone going to Disney, whether you have kids or not! We had a blast! Some more character pics for your enjoyment...

IMG_0924.jpg

IMG_0917.jpg

IMG_0921.jpg

Funny story when we visited with Minnie...All of us had on our "Disney Chix" shirts, but not one of them had Minnie on it. She pointed to all our shirts, crossed her arms over her chest and turned her head in a huff! I tried to explain that i had Mickey because i loved him too, but she wasn't happy. Once I told her I wouldn't try to steal him since I was married, she was ok then and gave me a big hug. It was so fun to be able to interact with the characters and not have to worry about looking silly. Heck...we were in Disney!!! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

All too soon, breakfast was over and it was time to head to the tram. From there we were off to Magic Kingdom!!! WOOHOO!!!!:cool1:

We bid adieu to The Contemporary and head straight to MK!!! YAY!! We're finally going to see the Castle in the daylight! there is nothng more magical!

IMG_0930.jpg

We stop for a few Photopass pics, a little window shopping and decide to head to Fantasyland first, as that's where most of the rides we wanted to go on were. As we reached the castle, the Mickey show started. We had a great spot to watch it a get pics.

IMG_0936.jpg

IMG_0938.jpg

IMG_0952.jpg

IMG_0959.jpg

The show was enjoyable, a little long I thought, but enjoyable. We headed around the castle to the left and this family was just arriving for pictures and autographs:

IMG_0962.jpg

OMG, they were so funny and perfect! You would have thought they walked right out of the movie!!! I had fun with the red headed sister, as she was VERY obnoxious, but perfectly in character! When I told her she was obnoxious, she said she was just "enunciating, because that's what a lady does." She was just hysterical!! If you haven't met up with these "lovely ladies" you are missing out!

From there we made our way around FantasyLand and hit most of the rides! The main one being Snow White, as that is MJ's favorite!

IMG_0964.jpg

IMG_0968.jpg

From there...Peter Pan, Small World, Winnie the Pooh and the Mickey's Philharmagic. I wanted to make sure to get to hilharmagic, as I had read so much about it. So, we went in and what a great show!!! We laughed so hard with all the "things" popping, blowing and coming at us! A must do fo my next trip!

From there we hit Splash Mountain & Big Thunder Mountain. The amazing thing to me was the lack of lines!

IMG_0987.jpg

We rode both rides within 30 min! It was amazing. Is it me, or did they add a rather large squirt of water at the bottom of the drop??? We were soaked!!!

IMG_0981.jpg

When we got off BTM, we headed to Jungle Cruise. MJ decided to sit that one out, as she wasn't feeling great after BTM. After Jungle Cruise, we realized there was a show going on and it was Roz's favorite guy! Captain Jack!!!!pirate:

IMG_1002.jpg

The Pirate Tutorial was alot of fun and they brought in a number of kids from the crowd. And Captain Jack was GORGEOUS!!! I found out after we had gotten home, that you could meet him at a meet & greet! Are You Kidding Me?? And I missed that!?! :scared1:

From there we parted and Roz & I went to the Haunted Mansion and Judy, MJ & Pam went to Space Mountain. Afterwards Roz & I had lunch in Tomorrowland and then met the others back at the Polynesian for drinks on the beach.

That night we went to DTD and there really isn't much to tell here. We shopped, we walked, we went back to POR via the boat. This was a difficult night, as we had a falling out, words were said, feelings were hurt and we still had 3 nights on the cruise to look forward to. Luckily we got past it and were ready to hit the cruise the next day!

IMG_1023.jpg

Ya'll look like you were having a great time!

You didn't do the Meet and Greet with Cap'n Jack?

I totally would have shared him with you! pirate:

That blue castle show was looooong, I agree.

Oh, and welcome back Gayley!!! I missed you!

Ya'll look like you were having a great time!

We were having a blast! It was a beautiful day and the ;ines were short! Who could have asked for more!!! :goodvibes

I had no idea there was a meet and greet with Cap'n Jack when we went. :scared1: But now that I do, I'll be in that line when I go in Sept!!!!

Thanks for the welcome back! I have missed being here, but unfortunately, life happens! :confused3
