Hi, I thought I would share some info for our Southern Ontario folks who might want a Disney character meal in ONTARIO!

For four years, we have been enjoying a Disney character meal in Niagara Falls during the first week of the Winter Festival of Lights in NF. (around the 3rd weekend in Nov).

It's hosted at one of the nicest NF hotels. We've had the breakfast twice at the Brock, once at the Americana and once at Sheraton Fallview.

It's a great value! $14.95 adults and $9.95 children. It's for a children's charity called TENDER WISHES. It's like Make a Wish for NF area kids. That's in Canadian Funds too!

Tickets are available closer to November. I'll let you know more as the Fall approaches.

The characters we have meet are:

1997: Snow White and the Prince (Mickey breakfast was the day before ours)
1998: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto
1999: Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto
2000: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto

The character meal is the same as in WDW. The characters come it each table, do photos and autographs!

We go the opening night too and see the Disney show. We know the shows script by heart! The show includes: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, Chip, Dale and SANTA CLAUS!

Let me know if you plan on going! We won't miss it for the world! It's always my birthday weekend, so we make a trip out of it! Stay a couple days at a nice resort and enjoy Disney and of course the Winter Festival of LIGHTS!

We just heard about this event a couple of months ago (on this board, of course). It is definitely in our plans. Sort of a tune up for our trip to WDW in January 2002. When you hear something, re: tickets, schedule etc, please post on the boards or e-mail us. Maybe we can meet some DISers there.

Wow! Are those prices in CDN $ ? That's a terrific deal and it sounds like great fun.

Hmmmmm, now if I can just convince dh that we need to visit NF around the US Thanksgiving...........I'll have to work on that :)

OOOHHHH Sandra! Please keep us posted. That sounds like lots of fun. Is the show a separate event with a separate ticket? Approximately how long would it be? Enquiring minds want to know.

Thanks, Sandra.

Hi all,

There are two Disney shows per night but only two nights! The opening weekend is usually around the third weekend in November (the festival runs until January, but the Disney folks are only there during the opening weekend, but the Disney lights are there thru the whole festival).

The first show is the BEST! (Saturday night) At about 5:15 pm the mayor of NF and a few organizers make speaches to about 5:25 pm. At 5:25 pm the mayor FLICKS the LIGHT SWITCH and all the beautiful lights go one. There is a HUGE and BEAUTIFUL GRAND FIREWORKS SHOW! It goes on for about 5 or 10 minutes. Directly after the fireworks is the first Disney show. It's about 5:30 - 5:35 pm start. It runs about 30 minutes. Last year's show was a little different from the the two previous years shows. Basically it's Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale searching for Santa. There are real life singers and dancers interacting with the characters and of course Santa at the end!

The next show is around 6:45 pm and the then the next day (Sunday night) there is a 5:30 pm and 6:45 pm show. Then the characters go back to California!

The first show is the best because of the OFFICIAL turning on of the lights and the fireworks. The other shows just have the lights on without fireworks.

I think the story goes like this: The Winter Festival of Lights is almost 20 years old. We've been going for about 15 years (I think). About 8 years ago, Disney sort of took over. There are lots of Disney film represented in lights at Victoria Park (that's where the stage is). You can't miss it, it's right in front of the falls. I could be wrong about this, but that's the story I was told. My mil and dh don't like the Disney take over, they think it takes away from the orginial idea. But I think it's the best thing that happened to the festival.

I'll write more as I learn! CHAT SOON!

Thanks for the infos and the website!! I am very much interested in going to Niagra Falls and have meals with the Mickey and friends! I would love to see the Festival of Lights!! This sounds real fun!! Please let us know more if hear anything more about this event!! Thanks!

May i know where can i purchase the ticket to character dinner?
and which restaurant?

I'll let everyone know about ticket sales as soon as I learn about them. My contact says Disney folks always wait until the last minute to confirm the breakfast(s). They usually pick one of the nicer NF hotels. I'll learn more closer to the date. I'll keep you posted! YES, CDN prices!
