i heard that too! i am hoping it's not true.
of course they do it at WDW every year but the year I decide to go they switch to Disneyland! This is my luck.

It's official, from Hal Boedeker's blog:

Sad news, Disney Channel fans: There will be no Disney Channel Games in Orlando -- or anywhere this year.

The channel is putting its emphasis elsewhere.

A Disney Channel spokesperson said Wednesday: "While we are proud of Disney Channel Games and its great success over the past two years, this summer we are focusing on the launch of a new pro-social initiative with Disney Channel and Disney XD stars. Details will be announced shortly."

Last month, Disney Channel honcho Gary Marsh said the young stars' busy schedules could scuttle the games this year.

Last year's event attracted Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers, and the channel promoted "Camp Rock."

Wow,that Disneyland information from Wide World of Sports was "right on the money",wasn't it?!LOL I just never felt Disneyland was a viable possibility.I DID think there was at least a 50/50 chance the Games would return to Champion Stadium,so when I received the email from Hal Today,I was SO disappointed and somewhat surprised.I knew there was a distinct possibility the Games would be cancelled,but when it became "REAL",it was still somewhat of a shock.I feel SO bad for you and your friends!The Disney Channel Games are so much fun for DC Fans and I wish you guys could experience it!Hopefully the Games will return next year,but,to be honest,I am not overly optimistic at this point.You will still have an AMAZING trip!I remember my first trip to Walt Disney World SO VERY fondly!It is SO AMAZING!I think I am going to keep my trip dates of April 25-May 2 and go over to Champion Stadium on what would probably have been "opening day"(April 27) for a "moment of silence)! You are going to have a GREAT trip I am sure.Please come back here when you return and let us know what you thought of Walt Disney World.You are still going to have your first Plane ride and your first trip to WDW,so "2 out of 3 ain't bad"!HAVE FUN AT WDW!

Thanks so much WEDWDW!! I just got back from class and heard that it was cancelled. I am upset. It's better that I had at least a warning that they might not happen but still it's a MASSIVE bummer. I def. look forward to my first WDW trip!!! I think our plans will change though. I'm not sure when we'll go/where we'll stay. I'll probably go sometime in may now after my second semester finishes up. And maybe we'll still stay at the AKL but who knows? Maybe somewhere cheaper? haha I'll report back afterwards. sigh. Oh well everything happens for a reason.. I'll get over it. What on earth do you think this "pro-social iniciative" thing is though?

Sad to hear there will be no games this year. My daughter was so excited b/c we moved to Florida this year and I promised that we would go. Oh Well, at least I don't have to wait for months and then find out it is cancelled.

Yeah, It was so nice seeing all the stars there at once. I loved also seeing the international stars. We never see their shows, obviously, but they are all so nice and genuine. There were three that I specifically remember, Andres, Guillio, and Martin.
Anyways, hopefully the games will be back in 2010, i guess all we can do is hope at this point.

in the past, there was no real access to the celebs, except for hanging over a fence and trying to get their attention...that being said, those who DID go near the fence were very kind, chatting & signing....

I agree about the International Stars! One of the NICEST DC Stars I "met",domestic or International,was Andrea Guasch from Disney Channel Spain.I had NO idea who she was! She took the time to tell me where she was from,etc. and she was just SO friendly and unpretentious-no "star attitude" whatsoever!

Aw, no disney channel games this year possibly? And that means no concert, which is what I have been looking forward to.

So is there any chance that the games WILL be held, and for that matter IN FLORIDA? I hope so....

Awww! We were on our way to school this morning and our local radio station always does the celebrity birthdays and then the local "celebrity" birthdays. They said Emily Osment's name and I thought my girls were gonna break the windows with their screams. They just love Emily. I gotta admit, I am a huge fan too, what a fun and great personality she has! My daughter, who just turned 12, got an Emily Osment doll from Santa I thought she would be too old for it, but it was her favorite present and it sits on her dresser.
So in conclusion...Happy Birthday Emily!

PS On a side note, I am bummed to hear about the games this year, we have enjoyed them! Ah well.
