I will be sendind whatever pictures i have later, sorry i didn't get to tonight. I dont have concert pics because i didn't go but i can probably find you some. I also have some good dc games pics and some not so great but i'll still send them. but then again i'm sure i can find a bunch for you.

also, where was everyone sitting or standing for the parade? i wanna know if i saw anyone or if anyone saw me! i was in the VIP section.(well even though i wasn't VIP lol)

The 15 year olds in my group are eternally grateful to you for trading them. I am just glad they survived on the field! I guess people were dropping like flies down. Ends up that a school acquaintance of my older DD's was one of the first to pass out.

I hope you recovered from all the walking your first day and were able to see everything you wanted to see!

Got back from Disney last night. Thanks for everyones posts and updates they were really useful for me because I really didn't know what to expect. Went to the games on Thursday. Didn't get any autographs but enjoyed just being there and seeing all of the stars that I watch so much on TV. Met Maryann(mahipp). You were great really enjoyed meeting you. As she mentioned she traded me her seat tix for field. Thanks again I really appreciated it. Would have never survived down there with a 5 year old. It was also great because the seats were up towards the last row and we were right next to the Disney suite. Got to see all of the DC stars. Justin from Wizards of Waverly Place, Kyle Massey, Moises, Mitchell Musso, Brenda Song, Derek from Life With Derek, Dylan & Cole Sprouse to name a few. Kyle Massey waved to my son who was so excited. It was a great trip and I will never forget my first Disney trip. Can't wait until next year!

head over to www.jimhillmedia.com he wrote an article about the games and even mentions this thread!! saying people are already planning to attend next years events and he makes it sound like the games will definitely be at WWoS next year!

sorry I don't post much...more of a lurker..was at the concert and thought it was great. this year was a learning experience for me and when I go back next year I'll be more of a veteran and my kids will have a better time. they are 8 and 6 now, but by next year I'm sure the 5 year old will want to come along too. kids had fun, but got a little bored and I really had no idea what to expect or what they wanted to do..they would have loved to get autographs and I could have probably gotten some, but I wasn't prepared. Like I said this year was a learning experience and next year I'll know better! :thumbsup2

The Andreas that the poster is reffering to is a guy. I got him too, and he just signed as "Andreas". He is from Spain and I've tried to find out his full name. He was very sweet.

Yes it was a guy, he was very sweet. He was walking past my dd who had her notebook out to be signed. I said excuse me and he came right back over to us. Signed her notebook and talked for a few minutes. Then told us thanks, kissed her cheek and left. I thought my dd 14 was going to pee her pants :rotfl: She just said WOW he was HOT!

I'm kinda sad that it's all over.:sad1: It has been such a blast posting and reading. I was looking back and there were days that we were posting 10+ pages a day! Maybe I am having withdrawals from my board addiction! Anyhow, I'm gonna read what everybody has to say and get ready for the summer! WooHoo!:beach:

Just wanted to say thanks to someone I won't name on this thread, but she knows who she is. She gave my family tix to the concert, and we had a blast. Not to mention, she and her kids are fantastic and I felt like I'd known them for life. You know who you are...smile

Concert was awesome! Games earlier in the week were stressful, but we did get a lot of autographs. I tried to take some photos while at the concert, but don't think they came out very well because I couldnt get my phone to zoom.

Thanks to everyone for all the great info.

heh, Disney should release a Concert CD from the DC Games concert..

Ev

yeah, the concert DVD idea sounds awesome!

Someone mentioned on the 2009 DC games thing that it would be awesome if they had people pay to meet each celebrity and the money went to their charity!
I think we should all contact disney about that!
:)

didn't make it to the games but got to see the whole paparazzi/stalking thing at AKL every night and morning.

Chesey Staub and Alyson Stoner were really great about taking time to do autographs. There was one other girl that stopped once, an international that stopped briefly and Kyle Massey (sp?) that stopped another time. Dylan and Cole sprouse ran right through, no stopping as did a few other stars that made the firls really disappoiinted.

I couldn't belive the amount of people there that were not staying at the hotel but left late enough that the only way to get back to their hotel was cab. (after midnight, closer to 1 am)

Kyle massey tried to go swimming with friends after signing and changing in his room, the girls followed him to the pool. There were about 15 kids from the games and friends (maybe siblings) playing at the pool and the girls did not care about their personal time. The boys were really loud and kept me up for a while, since I had pool view and the sound came right through the door.

I felt really bad for the families that were just trying to get into the hotel, forbid if they have a van that looked similiar. The girls just mobbed it and didn't really listen to the security guards or anyone. Some of the parents were just as bad.

I was also disappointed in the fact that I was nice enough to leave tickets for the concert at the front desk to be picked up on wednesday and found them in my room on the table when I got back Friday night. I called and left a message on her phone and never heard from her but hoped she had grabbed them. We didn't have time to get them back to WWoS Saturday before going home, so 6 fields tickets went to waste.

Maybe some day we'll get to see the games. Maybe next year if they are open.

These kids give 100% at the DC Games, they sign autographs, they pose for pictures..they do their job because they are afterall "on the clock". However when they are having fun in their off time, it is ashame that they are stalked by fans at their hotel . In particular, Cody really went above and beyond "at the games", so it is ashame that he is getting a bad wrap (previous post) just because he wanted to have some personal time with his friends at the pool. He could have been more polite about it (properly excused himself), but when you are at work for 10 hour days (in the heat), posing for pictures, signing autographs and not being able to walk accross a field without getting a headache from the screaming....How would you have really reacted to having your personal time, invaded? They are just people like all of us, they shouldnt be expected to perform on demand (auto/pics) and I know, I love my personal time and I would bet a million, they do too. JMO:thumbsup2

I just noticed that disneychannelgames.com says to check back in July for the "inside track" on DCG 2008,so everyone may want to bookmark the site and go back there in July.:)

A fanfest is an event where the stars are at tables or similar set up and they are available for autographs and pictures. They are really great.

can someone please explain to me what fanfest is>?
thanks!
:)

Yes I heard some fans get disgruntled because the stars did not respond to their screams, and I just kept thinking how annoying it was, and they weren't even screaming my name. Many of the stars seemed above and beyond, and they are just kids. I think it is a real shame that some folks felt compelled to stalk them. I would have loved to run into them somewhere, but then I would have been self conscious about imposing on their personal time. I felt guilty asking for a hug and an autograph for ds...

I would love some sort of set up where we could see a few games maybe, or a better view of them working, then a set time for interaction/autographs. I think the big problem for us was that ds could see autographs happening, so he wanted some too, and he just couldn't understand being passed over and the stars not returning when they said they would. (Just to clarify I understand, but ds is only 5 with some major delays, and life is very black and white for him - if you say it, he thinks you really mean it - he was willing to just sit and wait as long as he had to and he waited 9 hours Thursday, after Tuesday's miss, and just couldn't understand). Maybe a parade of stars at some point (ds is not a jonus fanatic, so the parade at studios left him wanting a bit (he's a fan, but he would have been far more excited to see the cast from one of his shows).

Hi all....I have posted just a few times on this board - but wanted to update you on the magical weekend. First of all...my biggest thanks go out to all of you on this board who provided information and tips as none of this would have happened without those nuggets of info. My deepest appreciation and thanks to Disney, WWoS, Disney Channel and all of the staff - This is an event that does make dreams come true and my thanks for inviting the fans.

I had booked a small getaway weekend to Disney for me and my DD7. Once the trip was booked I realized the dates were what they were. I knew we would not be down for games...and had no concert tix so I prepared her for hearing about it - but not being able to go. There was a wonderful person on this board who was kind enough to PM me that she had one ticket. I had not even posted ten times on this board so I could not reply to her.... what a sweet offer...but I did need two since she is so young. I am sorry I could not reply - but thanks for your offer. After reading on this board that some tix were handed out at the box office on Thursday....I talked to DD and decided to head to WWoS on Sat morning to see what the scene looked like and to see if tix were available. This was to be our day at DHS so it was only an extra bus ride to experience the atmosphere. I could not believe so many people were camped out - Loved It...I am sure I saw a bunch of you! Anyway...the lady at the box office was the nicest woman I have ever encountered...I told her I did not have tickets and it was just a shot in the dark....she obviously did not have any but really took time to talk to us and give us the lay of the land and I could tell she truly felt bad. I took DD into the gift shop to buy t-shirts....Two girls approached us and asked to talk...they said they heard our conversation with the Box office and they had extra tickets. I could have fainted. DD said nothing...there were just tears she was so happy. We went back to the box because these lovely sisters did not want to do anything they were not allowed to do....the box office lady was sooo excited for us and said of course you can give them to whomever you want. She told my daughter she must be doing all the right things because people just don't get lucky like this. What a great impression on my little girl. In fact...later I had two more tickets because the others in their party had their flight cancelled....The wonderful sisters looked at my daughter and said we want you to pay it forward now...you have to find two people who you think are nice and offer them these other tickets - and then you can make someones day. These are lessons and experiences you just cannot pray enough for. My daughter learned so much about receiving kindness and giving kindness. We went back to the hotel and there were bunches of girls talking about wanting to go to the concert. Some of the girls just seemed kinds snobby and not listening to their Mom....my daughter specifically said she would not give them tickets...then there was an older girl in the pool who offered to play with my dd....she was a very nicely mannered teen who acted right, asked my permission to talk to dd, asked if it was ok to play with her and to lift her up....she just had been raised right. I waited and sure enough dd swims over to me and says...she is the girl I want to give the tickets to....I said of course...and when my daughter told her of the extra tickets she was so excited. She was there with her grandmother and they were both elated. I explained that there are good girls out there and not so good and this was a reward for being a nice person. Needless to say the concert was great! We had seats which I was glad about....we were close to where they were bringing all the injured and passed out people so it was a little scary seeing all that....but it was just the best experience. If we never go to Disney again - my daughter's memory of this concert will live forever. She was not able to get any autographs...but she did not complain - she knew she had been blessed to get the tickets. My joy was watching her and watching the girls who gave us tickets and the others who received the gift that day. Magical things happen at Disney and I never expected to go - but I wished with all my might that there could be a way for her....and there was. I have told all my new friends about the boards and all the great info on this thread and all the others and I'm sure they will become members...so I assume they will see this post. So to the sisters from New Orleans....you are the best!!! And to our new friends....Grandma and Grandaughter...keep being kind and well mannered - it is the right thing to be. We are so happy to have met you all.
To the members on this board...another thanks and to the nameless lady (sorry) in the Box office - thanks for your kindness and for being so excited for us - you made our day!

You know, it's funny... but we had the BEST time giving away our regular tickets... one family offered to buy us dinner, and although we would have loved to have shared a meal with them, we did not want any "repayment" for them. (we really liked that family though!) The mother and tween we gave them to at AKL kept asking what they could do for us and how much the tix were... we so enjoyed saying nothing and nothing... the teens walking out of the ballgame at WWOS could not believe there wasn;t a catch... sometimes it's just FUN to do something nice for people...

Since we are sharing. I had 4 extra tickets due to an illness. I was unable to give them away for 3 days. People were leaving or already had tickets. On Saturday around 3pm I found the perfect family. Approx 1 year ago this young girls aunt took her to WDW. While there they received a phone call that the little girls mother passed away. They cut their vacation short of course to go home. I guess she was critically ill. I was not able to listen to the story. The lump in my throat was blocking my ears. I found this familyat pop century by the foosball guys during hot wheel races. Her aunt brought her back to try to get her to the concert but they were not able to get tickets. Her aunt said this trip was hard for her and she has not smiled all week. When we gave her the tix the whole family cried and yes she smiled. I saw them the next day and they thanked me endlessly. It did bring a tear to my eye I wont lie. Most of all it brought some joy to a child having a tough time. It put a lot into perspective. I thank them for making me enjoy the more simple things. If you read my report earlier I stated the concert night I did not chase autographs or run around. I just enjoyed the time with my daughter. Isn't that what they are all about....

Agreed Joe and I think a lot of parents forgot that. In all of the autograph chasing, it was my kids who were getting them, for themselves, not me, not for me. I got so much pleasure and the occasional tear fell when I watched my kids having such a good time. Just being able to witness their pure elation and joy made every second worth it. I will post and e-mail several times pushing for that fanfest/meet and greet. I know they can't have your typical ticketed PAID event or they are required to pay the talent and that gets complicated BUT if they make it a "donation" event to benefit the teams/charities (helloooo Disney I'd be GLAD to assist in the planning on a volunteer basis) they could make an ENORMOUS amount of money for those charities and have a slew of thrilled fans (and their parents). We paid $100 per ticket to watch Miley sing, we paid $100 a ticket to see Hillary Duff etc... TRUST me, people will pay to meet, get autographs and pics of their favs... it could be HUGE and controlled and... well you get the idea...

What fantastic stories of paying it forward...AWESOME! Thank you all for sharing them with us and thank you for being "those" kinds of people. I knew you were out there. I'm a HUGE fan of paying it forward and doing for others and volunterring consume my life. I love this kind of stuff!
