Disney Cancelled Haunted Trail Rides at Fort Wilderness for Fall 2012????New Ideas??

I was told by a CM today that there will be no Haunted Trail rides at Fort Wilderness this year. I have never experienced the trail rides but I have heard they are very popular and hard to reserve-so why would Disney cancel them all together??

Any other family ideas for Halloween night? We had planned on trick or treating at our resort (Wilderness) and then taking a water taxi to the haunted trail ride. We will be visiting MNSSHP but are skipping Halloween night for a night less crowded night. Now I need a new plan for Halloween. Do any other parks have anything themed or different for October 31?

The CM told me that they will not be replacing the Haunted Trail Rides with anything just skipping them altogether this year. The Hoop de Doo is also closed for our trip so we are 0-2 at Fort Wilderness

I was thinking that DVC was to blame also but didn't think that construction was set to begin by this fall already. Also, Hoop de Doo is really popular so I'm not sure what they are thinking closing it during the holiday season. Couldn't they atleast relocate it???

So-any unique ideas for Halloween night?!? Please!!

Visit the resorts because each resort usually has something fun going on like costume contests/parades, pumpkin carving contests, go to the Polynesian and sit outside by the pool and watch the MNSSHP fireworks and listen to the music from the parade, see if there is anything going on at Downtown Disney for entertainment.

Bumping to see if anyone else has ideas

They cancelled the Trick-or-Treating in DTD before 2011 and this was cancelled. Anyone have experience with the activities at the resorts? We have a VN dinner reservation, but it look like EP will be crowded. I was thinking of walking over to BWV, BC, YC, etc. if the resorts will have events.
