roughtly 4 Billion dollars, 50% paid in cash up front. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by George Lucas. Now that's a nice paycheck.
I'm curious to see what will happen now that he will be more hands off. I love what he's done with the franchise over the years, but sometimes I just kind of think people don't want to tell him NO when he comes up with an idea that later turns out not to be so good.. yes, I'm looking at you Jar Jar

There's the blog entry. Being that Avengers made about 40% of the cost of Marvel at the box office alone, seems that is Disney's strategy again. Buy LucasFilm, make a few movies, and it's all paid for without even accounting for theme park/merchandise.
Savvy move Iger. Someone is thinking about his legacy.
Commence clamoring for Star Wars Land to replace Avatarland in three...two....one....
Episode 7 RELEASED in 2015? That seems pretty aggressive. I sure hope they don't rush it and put out an inferior product.
Doesn't take 2 years just for the CGI?

As an FYI, Lucas announced earlier this year he wanted to walk away and make "hobby movies":

I think the fact that Disney is buying the whole thing is what's surprising.
ILM presumably remains separate.
