Disney Announces New Premier Passport

Breaking news…we just announced during Disney’s annual shareholders meeting that a new premium annual pass for admission to the parks at both Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort will be offered beginning Thursday. It’s called “Disney Premier Passport” and it’ll feature the same benefits you get with the “premium” annual passes for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts for $700, plus applicable- sales tax.
So, what’s in it for you? At Walt Disney World:

• Unlimited admission for a period of one year to all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks, including park hopping privileges
• Unlimited admission to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Parks
• Unlimited admission to DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (valid only on event days; some events require an additional admission charge) and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course (greens fee only. Tee time reservations are required and subject to availability)
• Parking at all four Theme Parks
• Subscription to Mickey Monitor, a collectible Passholder-only publication

And at Disneyland Resort:

• Unlimited admission to both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure Parks for a period of one year, including park hopping privileges
• Parking at any pay-on-entry parking lot
• Subscription to Backstage Pass.
• Complimentary subscription to Disney’s Family Fun Magazine (one per household)

If you’re already holding a Premium Annual Pass for both Resorts, you’ll automatically be issued a “Disney Premier Passport” – with an expiration date based on the later of the two annual passes. You may also upgrade your annual or seasonal pass for one resort to a “Disney Premier Passport” for an additional fee.

Too bad there isn't a non-premium option. We already have WDW APs and could definitely use these, but we don't do water parks, Quest or golf. Plus, no mention of a DVC discount? I'll hold off.

Same for us. Maybe if they keep it around we might do it in a few years. I would love to have an incentive to visit DLR, but it would be a once a year trip and to pay $250 more for that over our current AP doesn't make sense at all for a one week or less trip.

That's a semester of college for some people...a house payment...food for 6 months...down payment on a nice car...a trip for two on the Wonder's 4-day trip in a nice category cabin...one fill-up for an 18-wheeler...airplane tickets to China...3 dental crowns or one implant...lasik on one eye (or both on a "two for one" special)...a really nice computer (or two really nice laptops)...a memorable weekend in Las Vegas (that you might not remember)...painting the house...the fines and court costs for a DUI...one week at the Grand Floridian in a standard room...a used jet-ski...a trip for four to Yellowstone National Park for a week...

I don't know why that struck me as so funny! But it did. (Maybe I've been watching too much of Tim Burton movies)

Anyway, I was planning a trip to DLR this summer, and considering the Southern Calif. City Pass which includes 3 days at Disney, Sea World, Universal, and San Diego Zoo for $269. You can upgrade the pass to more than 3 days or get an annual pass. You will get the value of the 3 day ticket or $205/$184 depending on where you bought the pass. Soooooo, $205 off the $700 price of the Premium dual park pass would be $500--which is only $40 more than the Annual Pass at WDW now, right?

This will be good depending on an indivual person. We are planning a trip to DL Nov 2010, WDW April 2011 and DL Aug 2011 for d23 expo. It would be cheaper for us to buy this then separtae tickets for each trip. Fow us it may be perfect for others no.

If you're a resident of Florida or California, it sounds like pretty much full price for both passes, just combined into one card. It might be a discount for people who don't live in either of those states though.

I would have thought it would have been in their best interests to make it a little cheaper than that, as most people would be likely to use one resort or the other most of the time, with a once a year trip to the other resort, but that's just my opinion. Like have it be a $100 add-on to the WDW premium annual, or like a $200 add-on to a Disneyland annual.

Wow I can't believe how cheap this is.

We have Reg AP for DW $500 and Reg AP for DL with blackouts $269

These passes are worth around $1100 what a great deal for those who go to both parks.

This is a great deal for me. I am not a florida resident and my Premium annual pass is $619.00 so for $80 dollars more i get unlimited to DL as well as WDW. Finally something good for out of state residents.

Here's to hoping for a DVC discount. I'm heading to both resorts this year but even with the most expensive tickets i'm still spending over $100 less than the cost of the new AP.

Well, that's interesting, but I'm not sure how much sense it makes. FL and CA are on opposite sides of the country.

Cedar Fair has a similar annual pass for its parks, but most of them are all in the northeast United States
