i'm a hardcore disney fan, and your basic universal hater - but i think universal is much better value for money...especially if you stay onsite...but even just the tickets are better value than disney tickets...
Are Universal tickets any better value than Disney?
1 day ticket $87, both same.
14 day Uni/IOA £85 (2 parks)
14 Disney £215 (4 parks, 2 water parks, Disney Quest & Wide World of Sports)
AP (basic as Uni don't have waterparks)
Uni $247 for 2 parks
Disney $552 for 4 parks
Not a lot in it IMO for ticket only comparison.
Take into account the hotels, I can stay in a Disney Resort for 3 weeks no problem, wouldn't get tired of it. Universal, stayed there 3 nights last year and had enough, no way could I spend 3 weeks there (especially paying $15 a day to park) only bonus is FOTL, not something we were bothered about but some really like it, Fast passes at Disney, not quite as good but free.
Only real advantage with Universal to me is the AP gets more discounts than Disney, usually at least 10% everytime you get your wallet(purse) out, Disney struggle to give discounts.
Although I love Universal for a couple of days each trip and really like having our AP's I don't think they are in the same league as Disney(2 days at Disney doesn't get you started). Disney passes offer at least twice for your money and the price reflects that.
