What is the connection between Disney and the Power Rangers?!! Our Disney Store has been overtaken with them!!!! Does anyone know if they will start to appear in the parks? My son would love that?!!! Or could be part of the 'boys' character meal that they so badly need!!!

I don't know, but I am with you! My boys (especially my almost 5 year old) are crazy about the Power Rangers right now!! They want to be them for Halloween. It would be great if there was some PR attraction(s) at WDW!

Disney bought the distribution rights from Toei.

It's a *******ization of the Japanese TV series. Disney only re-staged the parts where there are un-masked actors. All fighting scenes are directly ported from the original show.

and NO, there won't be Power Rangers at the park. That will be very un-Disney-esque.

We were just at TDS today and DS(4) wanted to get a Power Ranger Backpack for school. I was trying to sway him to something more Disney, but I had no luck. As you can tell Im not a PR fan. ;)

Au contraire. Power Rangers would certainly be more Disney-esque than 5 golf courses, James Cagney on the Movie Ride, or belly dancers in Morocco.

Disney's runaway success with "Princess" merchandising (and reflected on property by the demand for CRT) should hopefully get Disney to realize they're missing a huge market for similarly-aged boys.

I have two boys (5 and 8) who, sure, are excited about the rides at Disney; but there really aren't any characters that appeal to them. Buzz Lightyear may be one exception. But my boys, and most boys their age are more tuned into Power Rangers, Spiderman, Hulk, etc. Disney has never tapped Buzz's superhero potential, and that's what young boys want.

Other than Buzz, name an attraction at Disney that's really aimed at young boys. The only one I can think of is Tom Sawyer's Landing. And that was before MY time.

We're DVC members, plan on going to Disney every year or two for many years to come. But I can tell you that the pinnacle of our upcoming trip is going to be at US/IOA.

Now, if they had a Power Rangers breakfast and ride, that might change.

I don't know much about Power Rangers, but I do know that my 4 year old son loves all the Pixar/Disney movies: Toy Story, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo. When we were at Disney last month, they were advertising the new Pixar movie that Disney is releasing. I think it was The Incredibles, and after that is Cars. Both sound very boy oriented. My only question is that since Pixar and Disney split will Disney highlight these two movies, or any other Pixar characters, in the parks?

I know the current Buzz/Woody characters aren't conducive to a character meal, but I don't see why they can't change their costumes to make them more adaptable to that.

I can't believe the Power Rangers are still that popular. I used to watch them when they first came out! lol! Except then it wasn't just a "boy" show. Everyone watched it.

Though I have no proof or anything to back up what I'm about to say, it's just a feeling I'm getting....

I don't think Disney will incorporate Power Ranger characters into their parks. One reason is they are not as popular as they were when they first came out. But if Disney feels there is enough there to get some profit out of it, I believe they will start selling Power Ranger merchandise in the parks, especially if it's over powering the Disney Stores.

But if you want to see Characters... you have many years to wait, and probably a popularity growth to boot.

(Disney likes to show what will attract peoples attentions, hense James Cagnie; from what I've heard, most people are so "Power Ranger"-ed out, they don't want to see it when they are on vacation.)

Bring on the Power Rangers - these poor boys need something!!!

My poor son has been princessed to death by his two sisters.

C'mon Disney - this is half of your target audience!

Thanks for all your responses!!! Personally I am not a huge fan of the rangers........I can also remember them from the first time round......but my 3 yr old is Power Ranger and superhero mad!!! I know that he would love a character meal or even just a meet and greet to help balance out all those pesky princesses!!!!! He loves the Disney characters but I think that Disney is misssing out on a huge 'boy' market!!! He'd love a 'hero' meal with Tarzan, Aladin, Hercules etc either...........actually, come to think of it so would mummy!!!!!!

All the little guys we know are mad about Power Rangers. The closest Disney Store is 45 miles away and at least a third of the little guys at Kindergarten registration were dressed in items I know they purchased from Disney. They may not be as huge as when they were a new concept years ago but --- ask any 5 year old boy about them and they are the greatest!!

Deb's Hill -- you are fortunate to receive so many pleasant responses - when I asked if Power Rangers were available in the park several months back the responses were well----nasty. Little boys seem to love them but a lot of diser's do not:tongue:

(Also side note-- at our home we are being plagued with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in addition to the Power Rangers ---it has been quite a summer. )

Keeping our fingers crossed for a Hero's Meal---don't forget the Adventurer's--Pan, Tarzan, Aladdin, and Hercules!!

While my 4 yo DS has not gotten into Power Rangers, he sure is one Buzz Lightyer fiend! He'd been hooked for over 2 years now and I see no end to it. Now, my 1 1/2yo DS just started yelling "Buzz" every time he sees any of my older son's clothes, toys, books, etc with Buzz on it. I would love if there was some sort of adventurers/heros type meal or event!

Years ago, around 1993-4 I think, there was a Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles show at MGM. The characters were available for photos etc. My son says that they are on one of the Christmas Parade tapes that he has, maybe 1994. So it's not beyond Disney to have characters for boys. Does anyone else remember this?
Speaking of characters, around the same time there was a big Barbie show at EPCOT. Didn't see it, my son wasn't interested.
Our family would put in a vote for the Power Rangers, too.

Yes. A few years ago, the Ninja Turtles were singin', dancin', huggin', and signin', just like good characters do, and they were a big hit.

People new to the board should beware of any poster who chooses phrases like,

"NO, there won't be Power Rangers at the park. That will be very un-Disney-esque"

and

"I don't think Disney will incorporate Power Ranger characters into their parks. One reason is they are not as popular as they were when they first came out."

I doubt that these posters have either true inside information, or young boys.

Again: Moroccan belly dancers, Ninja Turtles, golf courses, and Pleasure Island. There is NOTHING un-Disney-esque if the guests want it.

Sign my boys up as two guests who want Power Rangers. Sign me up as one dad who would prefer the Swedish Bikini Team.

I think my boys have a much better chance.

My son is really into Power Rangers. I can see us doing a character meal with the PR.

I remember seeing the Turtles come up from the sewer at MGM on my first trip to WDW. It was probably in 1992.

When on our vacation this past June/July. My 5 year old nephew wanted more excitement. We opted for a run to Gatorland instead of the character Breakfast. MY Cousin went with the girls. She said we made a good choice since he is so "grossed out" by anything girly or mushy. There aren't many popular modern "boyish" Characters besides Buzz, woody and Stitch. We would love to see the Rangers next time we come down.
